Celebrating its “defining heritage” Rolls Royce just revealed a whole collection of bespoke Ghost cars called the Silver Ghost Collection. It is an important celebration as the Silver Ghost, produced in 1906, actually was named “the best car in the world” upon completion of a nonstop endurance voyage that covered 14,371 miles. An incredible achievement in 1906. Now, with a limited edition of only 35 Rolls Royce Ghost cars designated for the Silver Ghost Collection, the British company based in Goodwood solidified its status as the ultimate in the world of cars.

Rolls-Royce Silver Ghost Collection

Matthew Butt, Product Manager – Ghost, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, commented, “Careful consideration has been paid to the Collection’s defining features. References extolling the past are skillfully hand-crafted into the Ghost’s interior and exterior, creating a contemporary homage which speaks as much of today’s great brand as the original Silver Ghost does of its day. This is a truly remarkable Collection.”

While the detailed specifics are most certainly kept from the prying eyes of journalists and those who can’t afford this magnificent piece of art, I did figure out that the Silver Ghost Collection features a number of throwback touches that references that first Silver Ghost, then called the 40/50hp. Actually, it was only in 1907 that Rolls Royce designated the Silver Ghost name to it and Autocar declared it as the best car in the world. The title stands to this day. Only now, it is applicable to any Rolls Royce envisioned or approved in Goodwood.

Apart from the unique Cassiopeia Silver paint that echoes the original from 1906, the Ghost from the Silver Ghost Collection gained polished wheel centers and an awesome blacked out front grille. Rolls Royce went above and beyond anything in creating the silver finish for this car. The silver particles infused in the paint are actually made of silver. Rolls Royce reported that the application of this paint takes at least 8 hours. Quite a tiresome process.

The collection is distinguished from the rest of Rolls-Royce cars by a Hallmark of AX201. It is a registration plate that was on the original “Silver Ghost.” This retro touch adorns the base of each Spirit of Ecstasy ornament on the car. Quite amazing.

A Cabin Reminiscent Of The 1906 40/50hp Where It All Started

As is the case with every single Rolls Royce car, the Silver Ghost Collection automobiles get a rather special and unique interior. Although every cabin in any Rolls Royce is quite astounding, this particular Silver Ghost reminiscent of 1906 original with the Forest Green leather, silver touches, and a plaque with the wording “Silver Ghost Collection – One of Thirty-Five.”

Conclusion

Obviously, the latest Rolls Royce Silver Ghost Collection celebrates one of the most epic voyages ever undertaken. Back in 1906, Charles Rolls and Claude Johnson managed to complete a 14,371-mile journey that dramatically reshaped the perception of what a car is actually able to do. Now, a century later, Rolls Royce is still considered to be “the best car in the world” by many. That is the power of achievement. With Rolls Royce, it is all about achievements.

These 35 cars from the Silver Ghost Collection only confirm that.
