This may sound surprising, but Mercedes’ city car brand, Smart, is marking its 20th anniversary this year. To celebrate it, the marque is unveiling the ForEase electric open-top concept at the Paris Motor Show. The car looks super cute, but would it practical option to buy should it go into production?

What Makes the Smart ForEase Concept Car Special?

The Smart ForEase does not come with a roof at all! Not even a soft-top. Instead, there’s a pair of roll hoops and a ducktail spoiler behind the seats. In terms of looks, the ForEase comes finished in a mix of metallic white and silver paint.

As if this wasn’t enough to catch attention, Smart decided to add luminous “steam green” highlights to the front and rear bumpers, and the wheels. The wheels look like they’ve been borrowed from a kid’s tricycle. The Smart ForEase offers LED headlights, daytime running lights on the grille, and taillight with inserts that give off a 3-D look. The door handles are neatly integrated near the window sill.

On the inside, the luminous bit dominates the whole cabin. It’s found on the seats, the stitching, in the honeycomb elements in the air vents, and the outer edge of the infotainment screen. The steering wheel, oh wait; it’s not a wheel, it looks like a straight lift from a video game.

The performance and range figures haven’t been revealed, but the ForTwo delivers 100 miles on a full charge, and 0-62 mph takes a slugish 11.5 seconds.

Up until now, Smart was producing combustion engines in Europe but has decided to ditch them in favor of electric cars. In U.S., Norway, and Canada, Smart sells only EVs. Smart has introduced similar concepts in the past also, like the CrossBlade, which was a roofless and doorless design, and the ForSpeed, an electric open-top concept based on the second-generation Smart.
