Performance

The 2.0-liter, 4-cylinder, 16-valve DOHC engine produces 127 horsepower at 5,600 rpm and 131 lb.-ft. of torque at 4,000 rpm. An enhanced OBDII system improves diagnostic capability, and an ULEV-II emissions standards help Reno to remain environmentally friendly.

The EPA fuel economy is 23 mpg/city and 30 mpg/highway with the standard five-speed manual and 22 mpg/city and 31 mpg/highway with the available four-speed automatic transmission.

Safety

Multiple safety technologies are available on the 2007 Reno model. An advanced dual-stage front airbag supplemental restraints system, advanced weight-sensing front passenger airbag and driver and front passenger seat-mounted side-impact airbag are fitted on the vehicle. What is more 3-point safety belts with pretensioners and height-adjustable shoulder belts feature the driver and front passenger seats providing supplemental protection. The other 3 occupants have their safety and comfort ensured by the 3-point seatbelts and headrests at the rear seats. The designer haven’t forgotten the children’s safety. They fitted a Lower Anchors and Tethers for CHildren. (LATCH). The child seat system and child-safety rear door looks are standard and ensure further safety. Eventually, front and rear crumple zones, along with guard beams in the side doors help control impact energy to protect the passengers in the event of a collision and reduce the risk of airbag-induced injuries.

Design

Due to its 5-door layout, the Reno functions like a 4-door sedan when focuses on passenger and as a cargo hauler the 60/40 split-folding rear seatbacks are folded down. When the rear seats fold down, it is easy to accommodate long, wide or bulky items in the 45.4 cubic feet of cargo area.

Being provided with a relatively long, 102.4 inch wheelbase and wide stance, the occupants enjoy a spacious interior. The driver’s seat is adjustable along with the headrest that can be also adjusted. When being designed the constructors had in view a wide variety of body types and sizes. A year before, the tilt steering was made standard and seat fabric was upgraded to further enhance comfort. The interior is acoustically insulated to minimize engine noise, road noise and vibration.

The Reno’s interior is fitted with many dedicated utilities including a lighted glove compartment, center console with dual cupholders, forward storage compartment, front and rear door compartments, dedicated sunglasses holders, driven-side coin tray, rear center armrest with cup holders and driver and passenger seatback pockets. Additionally, there is an AM/FM/CD/MP3 audio system with 8 speakers. All these make driving comfortable and enjoyable.
