The Top 5 Cars We're Excited To See From FCA in The Next Four Years

It wasn't that long ago that the late Fiat Chrysler Automobiles CEO Sergio Marchionne unveiled a massive four-year plan for all the auto brands belonging to the American automaker. There were a lot of announcements involving brands like Jeep, Alfa Romeo, Chrysler, RAM, and Maserati. Some of the announcements were expected, but there were also some announcements that left a lot of people surprised and excited for what’s to come. All in all, more than 25 new vehicles are being planned over the next four years, including the five models that we’re most excited to see.

Maserati Alfieri

We’ve known about the Maserati Alfieri for quite some time now. It’s just that in all the years that it’s been in the production pipeline, we still haven’t seen it hit the road. That’s expected to change in four years time when Maserati launches not just one, but two versions of the sports car: the Alfieri Competizione and the Alfieri Spider. We’re particularly excited about the drop-top version of the sports car, mostly because it’d be cool to get seen in one. As awesome as that picture is, the most important development surrounding the Alfieri is that it’s been classified under Maserati’s Blue lineup. That means that it will benefit from a three-motor, all-wheel-drive setup with an 800V battery technology and torque vectoring at its disposal. FCA also promised that the sports car will get a lightweight construction, short charging times, and an extended range, ensuring those who end up buying one will get to enjoy it longer than they expected.

Jeep Scrambler

Here’s another model that we know little about. It’s been said that Jeep is all-in on going into the pickup market, and we’ve seen what kind of models it has up its sleeve through some spy photos that were taken as recently as a month ago. The Wrangler pickup, tentatively named the Scrambler, is expected to give the automaker a new market to conquer. It’s not expected to look too different from the Wrangler. Even its powertrain is said to be sourced from the popular SUV. That would entail having a 3.6-liter V-6 acting as the base engine for the pickup. If that’s the case, the Scrambler could have at least 285 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque on tap. Those who aren’t digging that number can opt for a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder unit with 270 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque at its disposal. Whichever you end up choosing, the important thing is that a Jeep pickup is finally happening. We’ve waited long enough.

RAM 1500 TRX

A Hellcat-powered RAM pickup is no longer a figment of our imaginations. It’s actually coming in the guise of the RAM 1500 TRX, of which a concept version was shown back in 2016. That model featured a supercharged Hellcat engine, and the expectation is that the production model is going to carry a similar powertrain. It may be a little too early to start getting excited about a Hellcat-powered RAM pickup, but the fact that it’s in FCA’s plans for its pickup brand tells you that, barring any unforeseen changes, we’re going to finally get this mauling marauder after years of clamoring for it.

Alfa Romeo Gran Turismo Veloce

This one sits close to our hearts, not only because it’s Alfa Romeo, but because it’s been a while since we last had an Alfa Romeo GTV in our lives. It’s been 12 years since Alfa sold the GTV so you can imagine how exciting it is to have the iconic nameplate back. The initial details about the car are just as exciting, especially when you consider that it’s being touted as having 600 horsepower at its disposal. That’s on top of it getting the four-seater treatment, all-wheel-drive capability, and a perfect 50:50 weight distribution. It’s hard to imagine a car that we’re more excited about, but believe it or not, there is one model that we’re most excited about. It also happens to be an Alfa Romeo.

Alfa Romeo 8C

Here we go, ladies and gentlemen! Rumors of Alfa Romeo bringing back the 8C for the first time since 2010 have persisted over the years. Nothing’s come out of it, but this time, it’s looking more and more likely that we’re finally getting the car we’ve been clamoring Alfa Romeo to build in the last few years. Even better, the company’s plans for the 8C are more than what we expected. Specific details are still scarce at this point, but from what FCA revealed, the returning 8C is getting a carbon fiber monocoque chassis and an electrified powertrain that can produce 700 horsepower and help the 8C sprint from 0 to 62 mph in less than three seconds. Given the numbers that Alfa Romeo’s touting, a 700-horsepower 8C has the potential to disrupt and shake up the supercar segment as a whole.
