While we are all waiting for the 2014 Golf R to hit the market, the German tuner ALPHA-N Performance decided to offer a few tricks for the current model.

The base Golf R is powered by a 2.0-liter, turbocharged four-cylinder engine that delivers a total of 270 horsepower. That's a pretty hefty number for a four-banger, but that's not the best it can can do.

ALPHA-N Performance updated the Golf->ke164 R with a new EVOMS sports air filter system and a new, stainless-steel exhaust system that considerably improves the sound of the turbocharged engine. All these changes, combined with a new EVOX systems chip tuning box, jump the total output to 330 horsepower - an increase of 60 horsepower over the base version.

All this power is transferred to the asphalt through all four wheels via the standard DSG gearbox.
