Ever since Gran Turismo->ke3689 announced the Vision Gran Turismo Concepts->ke169 last year, only two manufacturers have unveiled their video game-only concepts->ke169. On May 23rd, that number goes up to three, as Volkswagen->ke94 announced that it was unveiling its own virtual Golf GTI that it created exclusively for Gran Turismo 6.

Volkswagen is keeping its concept on lock down until the end of the week, at which time we're all going to finally see that superb hot hatch->ke304 concept that's been pining to be unleashed in GT6.

Ahead of its much-awaited debut, Volkswagen has released a teaser video of the concept, or at least the process that resulted in the creation of the concept. We don't actually see it until the end of the video, and it only offered a short glimpse of what we're all in store for, but the little we saw already has us salivating to see it in full guise, complete with the prominent front splitter, the large wheels, and the roof-mounted spoiler.

Added bonus goes to the old line of Golf GTI->ke223 models that Mattel Hammerbeck and Domen Rucigaj, the two people behind the creation of the concept, were driving in the game. Kind of made us nostalgic for those old hatches.

BMW Vision Gran Turismo Concept

The recently unveiled BMW Vision Gran Turismo Concept features the same aggressive design language as that of the Mercedes concept.

It’s not as outlandish, but it’s definitely up there, thanks in large part to a combination of BMW’s unmistakable racing genes with the design freedom that gives you the vibes of the M4 Coupe packaged with complete racing dynamics.

Under its hood, the the BMW Vision Gran Turismo Concept comes with a 3.0-liter, inline six-cylinder engine with M TwinPower Turbo technology, delivering a stout 549 horsepower and 500 pound-feet of torque. That’s more than enough output to turn the BMW Vision Gran Turismo Concept into a bonafide beast on four wheels.

Mercedes-Benz Vision Gran Turismo Concept

The Mercedes Vision Gran Turismo Concept set the bar so extremely high for the rest of the concepts that are yet to be introduced. BMW’s version came close to matching it, but the Mercedes’ otherworldly design still has us wondering if we’ll see it on the road soon.

Volkswagen, though, hopes to change that with the debut of its new concept later this week.

But as far as the Merc concept goes, that beauty came with an aggressive design language, with elements inspired by the 1952 300 SL race car and an interior with F1 elements. It also gets a powerful AMG engine and an exhaust system with eight end pipes.

As far as output is concerned, the concept comes equipped with an AMG-sourced, V-8 biturbo engine that delivers a total of 585 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque.
