Hoversurf inc., a Russian technology company, has been at designing personal quadcopter hoverbike for a while now and looks like they've got some serious buyers lined up for their product. One of them is the Dubai police.

Who else could you have thought of to be the first ones using this technology to catch thieves? For guys who move in exquisite automobiles manufactured by the world's best names, this is a no-brainer.

Unveiled at the Dubai’s Gitex Technology week, this hoverbike is a unique electric-powered vessel combining a motorcycle seat with quadcopter drone technology. With full police gear and insignia on it, the hoverbike shows us a glimpse of what it can do that the others in the fleet can't.

The Brabus G 700, Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG, McLaren 570S and the Bentley Continental GT at the background seemed uninteresting in front of the SCORPION hoverbike.

The cop uses two joysticks couple to the SCORPION platform that are ergonomically placed so that the operator can control the hoverbike with both hands. There are four high powered twin-blades on four corners of the hoverbike which provides the required lift, and one can probably direct the hoverbike with the help of the joysticks.

The police hoverbike can travel at speeds of up to 40mph, for up to 25 minutes and can carry as much as 300kg. According to the company's website, there is a "safety system powered by state of the art flight controllers, special logical programming and passive elements with computer-aided speed and altitude limiting". Fancy!.

Started as a ‘crowdfunding’ project, the SCORPION platform has come a long way into this prototype and soon can be purchased for recreational purposes. One can pre-order on their website: hoversurf.com.

Unfortunately, there is no pricing available on these. It is obvious that it won’t be just for the price of two bananas. Also, there won’t be a motorcycle’s license or even a pilot’s license to authorize you to ride one of these things.

There are many companies around the world developing such projects where people can be transported with the help of quadcopters, but nothing has come to being this small and compact.

Perfect for coupling it with our two-wheeled glories. Governments and militaries across the globe are also investing in such technologies which are showing promising progress.

Dubai police have shown us how.
