The highest amount paid for a motorcycle at an auction until now was for a 1951 Vincent 998cc Black Lightning which got sold for a whopping $929,000. But this brand new $1.9 million Harley Davidson makes that seem like change.

Encrusted with jewelry, heat-resistant LEDs, gold and silver plating, an armored glass dome amongst others, this Harley-Davidson Blue Edition will go down the history books as the most luxurious motorbike ever to have been produced. It took around 2500 man-hours to hand-craft this exquisite piece of machinery.

Put that number into days, and you’ll get a 104 days of continuous precision work that has gone through a Harley Davidson Softail Slim S to turn it into this blue bling. Commissioned by a Swiss jeweler and watchmaker, Carl F. Bucherer, this Blue Edition machine is a one-off build, completely handmade by a Swiss-based boutique Harley Davidson workshop, Bünderbike.

The highlight of this event here are the two armored glass-domed safes built onto either side of the fuel tank. One of them showcases a unique Carl F. Bucherer watch based on the Patravi TravelTec II, housed in a cage made from silicon rings tjat also serves as a winder. The other dome is a retractable safe that contains a Solitaire Heaven ring with a flawless 5.40-carat diamond.

Also included are five specially crafted pieces from Bucherer Fine Jewellery’s Dizzler ring collection, featuring 360 diamonds (32.962 carat in total). Then there are these diamond studded handgrips and forks, which themselves come plated with rose gold along with every screw used on the bike. So are the levers, footrests, headlight housing and the fluid reservoirs.

The paintjob, apparently, is a secret. But we know that it has six layers to it including a silver-plating before the final coat of blue is applied. Putting up a show to this set of glittering features are the heat-resistant LEDs that light up the domes and the 1,888cc motor as the engine bay covers are transparent.

The saddle is made from cow-hide and is hand stitched. The front spoiler, sprung rear fender and the wheel rims are all individually constructed in-house by the chaps at Bunderbike. The suspension setup sees a springer fork at the front and an adjustable air suspension at the rear tethered to a massive 300 inch rear tire.

Well, you already know how much it costs, but why it costs exactly that much? The answer is pretty simple actually. The 1,888cc motor can thrust this machine to a top speed of 188.8 kph. The folks just loved this number apparently and decided to price it at 1.88 million Swiss Francs. In today’s conversion rate, it comes up to roughly $1.9 million USD, making it reportedly the most expensive motorbike ever to have been made.

The watchmaker will also supply a second Carl F. Bucherer watch that carries design elements of this custom Harley on the dial. Bucherer says, “even when not riding the motorcycle, the buyer will therefore always have a piece of the pinnacle of Swiss watchmaking at his or her side.”

Fancy a more detailed look? Bucherer will open a permanent boutique in the Selfridges Wonder Room, where the motorcycle will be on display and available for purchase.
