Gone are the days when the word “Triumph” gave us the sexy vintage feels. Now, the brand has evolved big time into making machines that still keeps the sexiness alive but has turned into a whole new stigma. You’ll know what I mean when you see the Bonneville Bobbers’, the Tigers’, Speedmasters’ and the Street Triples’.

They are the new breadwinners and are so good that they are minting money for the iconic British brand. Their Bonneville range is selling as fast as they can make them and the Street Triples have become favorites for naked lovers.

Adding to the list will be the all-new Speed Triple naked roadster. The “Hooligan” of bikes. Triumph just teased the bike in a new video that gives us a launch date of January 29th.

Like old wine in a new bottle, the new Speed Triple is a 24-year-old model. It has already been updated half a dozen times with the latest one being in 2016. But with the competition spearing ahead, Triumph decided to refresh the Speed Triple with a few of its gimmicks.

The video in discussion here features seven-time world champion Carl Fogarty and two time Isle of Man TT winner Gary Johnson trying to prove the “Ultimate Hooligan”. There are no prizes for guessing what bikes they have chosen to prove it on. It is clearly the new Speed Triple that Triumph has been testing since October last year.

It is amazing how much you could tell has changed by just a few dim-lit shots seen in the video. Although it is hard to pinpoint precisely, we at least know that Triumph has tried hard to keep things fresh here. Take the new Arrow exhaust for example. They might even come as standard and looks sleek compared to the ugly bulbous ones on the previous one.

Then there is the new five-spoke wheels and the TFT dash borrowed from the Street Triple. That means you also get new switch gears to operate the multitude of functions on the TFT. LED lights look to have crept in as well.

Coming to the motor, it’s hard to tell what’s going on inside without having a look at it. But we know that Triumph had 104 changes made to the previous update even though the displacement remained the same.

Just like the Street Triple, even the Speed Triple might come in three specifications: S, R, and RS. Expect the RS to have top of the line equipment list including carbon fiber patches, Brembos’ and Ohlins’.

The unveiling will happen on the 29th of January, that is the coming Monday, and Triumph has invited a few folks to test out the new machine at Almeria in Spain on February 19. That will be the location for the press launch we reckon.
