With the biggest motorcycle event, EICMA, running on its second day in Milan, Ducati made sure to grab all the limelight they could by launching their 2018 models a day before every other manufacturer could at EICMA.

Along with updates to their current models, the Italian brand launched new ones to their lineup including the mighty impressive Panigale V4 superbike, Multistrada 1260 and this Scrambler 1100 that brings in the biggest motor to the ‘Land of Joy’ series of motorcycles.

Catering to those who yearn for a more serious performer, the 1100 answers with the potent powerplant and equipment list that lets riders upgrade without having to leave the Scrambler family. It all starts with the new redesigned 1079cc engine borrowed from the brand’s Monster lineup. It gets paired with an equally agile chassis developed in conjunction to give the riders the matured tool they look to change into.

Taking cues from the ‘70s, the 1100 is designed to have balanced proportions and seating geometry to give the rider a heightened feel and comfort. Use of authentic materials and Ducati’s habit of attention to details will give any quality-conscious rider the joy of ownership.

Be it the 320 mm dual front brake discs, beefier teardrop tank, interchangeable aluminum side panels and seats, the twin exhaust pods, aluminum levers and air-box covers, round LED headlights with aluminum X rings, multi-function switchgear, and the unique two –element instrumentation. Every single part of the Ducati Scrambler 1100 has been meticulously designed down to the very last detail.

The Monster’s Desmodue L-twin two-valve engine gets redesigned to prioritize fluid acceleration across the rev range and puts out a maximum power of 86 hp at 7,500 rpm and a maximum torque of 65 lb-ft at 4,750 rpm making it the most powerful Scrambler model. The 6-speed transmission has a slipper function that limits rear wheel chatter during heavy down-shifts.

Ducati will offer the 1100 in three variant: the standard model, a ‘Special’ and a ‘Sport’. Each of them gets their dedicated aluminum panels, handlebars, seats and color schemes and the ‘Sport’ gets Öhlins suspension (Kayaba on the Scrambler 1100 and Scrambler 1100 Special) and aluminum wheels.

The 1100 comes equipped with electronic rider aids to handle all that power. It includes ride-by-wire, IMU, Bosch 9.1 MP Cornering ABS, traction control and three Riding Modes. Braking is handled by 4-piston Brembo M 4.32B monoblock calipers on twin 330mm disc at the front and a 230mm disc at the rear.

We’re still waiting for word on pricing and availability for North America. Meanwhile, the European 1100 will cost £10,695 for the base model, £11,495 for the Special and £12,295 for the Sport. A dedicated apparel line also comes along with the 1100 that includes jackets, helmets, and gloves by Roland Sands.

This bike will go head to head with the other Europeans like the R NineTs’ and the Street Scramblers->ke1868’/Thruxton->ke1867’s regarding performance, yeah sure, but when we get talking about the fun factor, I guess no one gives it better than the folks from Ducati.
