Thousands of motorcycle enthusiasts AKA "bikers" will head for the Lansing Center Sunday, January 28, 2007 in anticipation of Spring...the search for new and used motorcycles, parts, accessories, apparel, tires, helmets, trailers & leather.

Brand new 2007 model motorcycles and the most creative custom motorcycles you can imagine, that cost up to $60,000, will share space with private individuals who will clean out their garage and bring their Hard-to-Find-Parts and "take-offs' to the LANSING CENTER. Dealers bring overstocked items, closeout merchandise and NEW stock offered at "swap meet" prices.

"Everything for rider or machine," says event director Staton Lorenz who has been the organizer of these events for 32 years. "No two meets are alike...each city has it's own "local" motorcycle industry...painters, fabricators, franchise dealers, aftermarket parts and accessories shops, mechanics and builders...this is where the veterans and the "newbies" meet and share the love of the sport, where friendships begin," adds Lorenz

Biker TV shows have taken over the Discovery Channel and even the Speed Channel offers the drama involved in building a motorcycle from the "ground up." Great TV but where do you get all the parts, frames, wheels, sheet metal, tires, motors, paint and fabrication? At the LANSING CENTER each January. The chopper craze has returned...fresh from the '70s...but with quality builders emerging almost daily.

So what's new? Come to the swap meet and find out. One trend that's noticeable is the conversion of 2-wheel touring cycles like Harleys and Gold Wings into 3-wheel TRIKES. The aging population wants to ride more, further and carry more baggage without the fear of a heavy motorcycle "tipping" over at slow speeds. The love of riding doesn't diminish when one gets older but sometimes the body does...trikes solve that problem.

The "biker lifestyle" is most closely associated with the leather apparel, T-shirts that make a point on the front and advertise where they've been on the back, bandanas, boots, chaps, vests, novelty helmets and event pins. You don't find these items at the mall!

Giant Motorcycle Swap Meets let buyers and sellers meet at a common place, annually, so that strangers don't have to visit private homes to see motorcycles for sale or drive all over 5 counties searching for that perfect cycle for; street, dirt, touring, custom or chopper interests.

Adults $8. Kids 6-12 are $2, under 6 are FREE. Register to win door prizes of airfare for two people to Bike Week or membership to Fitness USA Lansing. The Lansing Center is located at 333 Michigan Ave. in downtown Lansing, MI.
