When it comes to Hard Enduro riding there is only one yardstick: The Roof of Africa” - this year celebrating its 40th anniversary and supported by KTM.

This rally offers three days of gripping riding in the wilds of Lesotho from November 29 to Dec 1, 2008.

Three Day Spectacle

The three day spectacle starts in Maseru, the capital of the southern African kingdom, with a Supermoto-style prologue cheered on by crowds of up to 100,00 enthusiastic locals. Riders then tackle the Dragons Mountains where they climb to a magnificent 3,400 m altitude to find themselves truly on the Roof of the Dark Continent.

“Roof Ranking of Fame” for the winner

Riders will take the first 60 km in their stride but the real challenge awaits them when they confront 400 km of heavy offroad terrain – winding trails, rocky climbs, nasty descents, drifts and riverbeds. Here there is no road book, no GPS and no checkpoints. The course is colour coded making it easy for riders to navigate while concentrating on the business of being the fastest. The system is a proven one and the event has the proud record of never having had a fatality or even a serious accident. Base camp after the hard day’s ride is back at the hotel in Maseru to recuperate ahead of the next day’s competition. The winner: the quickest home after three days of hard riding. The reward: the trophy, a place in the "Roof Ranking of Fame" and lasting peer group admiration.
