Mark Aitchison, one of the world’s most promising young riders, has been secured by Triumph Italia BE1 Racing team to run alongside Ivan Clementi in the next season’s races.

Aitchison is looking forward to a successful year and believes that there is no question of his being a World Champion someday.  “I have no self doubt that I can do it. It’s just when."

“I’ve just got to pull it all together like Casey Stoner did earlier this year.  Last year he struggled with his Honda package. Things didn’t work out for him.  He had an off year and crashed a lot."

“Everyone wrote him off for this year but as soon as he found the right package that works for him, he was winning every race. That’s the stage I must reach.”

The 23 year old from Australia is delighted with the team’s decision to select him and offer him the contract for the next year’s World Supersport Circuit.  He will be supported by an English-speaking crew at the Triumph Italia BE1 Racing team – something he didn’t have this season at Team Celani in the World Superstock Championships.

In just two short professional seasons Mark Aitchison has set the bike scene alight.  In 2006 he was runner-up in the Australian Superbike Championship.  He was then picked up by the Italian outfit Team Celani, where he finished fifth in the World Superstock series.

Aitchison said: “I can’t wait to get started on the 2008 programme and of course the first race in Qatar.”
