Piaggio's->ke2268 umbrella casts a wide shadow at the INTERMOT motor show in Cologne, Germany, as the home company released information regarding its new models and features for the '17 model year. Starting with Vespa->ke2257 -- Europe's biggest, little-ride company, -- add a new Tuono from Aprilia->ke1934 and some sexiness from Moto Guzzi->ke1411, the immediate future looks bright and clean, literally.

Vespa

The factory created a new Vespa GTS that carries the also-new 125/150 cc, I-Get engine. Not only does the plant come built for low emissions, the “Start & Stop” feature kills the engine when stopped, and restarts it again when you're ready to go. This reduces emissions with a concurrent reduction in fuel consumption as well. I'll be taking a deeper look at this one as soon as the show winds down.

Aprilia

Aprilia->ke1934, Piaggio's sportbike->ke631 division, debuts a new trainer bike; the Tuono->ke1978 125 that comes clearly set up for the entry-level market with sportbike DNA and a very unintimidating powerplant.

The RS->ke2016 125 also got updated for '17 with a facelift inspired by its RSV4->ke3270 superbike->ke1888. Aprilia's RSV4 and Tuono V4 get a whole passel of upgrades with Öhlins suspension components, new brakes complete with cornering ABS, and a pit-limiter function and downshifter for genuine speed fiends.

Moto Guzzi

Finally, Moto Guzzi->ke1411 let us have a peek at its Audace Carbon, a spruced up version of its popular Audace that sports carbon-fiber components over a sinister-looking, blackout paint job with conspicuous red valve covers, calipers and wheel graphic. It's just an update, but it's a really cool one if you like the look of carbon as much as I do.

That's all so far for this show, but I expect we will see more from these three as the year draws to a close.
