The summer is over for the Aprilia Alitalia team->ke1934 as they will be heading back for the 11th German round at the Nurburgring World Superbike Rider's battle. Three more rounds to go wherein the Aprilia Alitalia team has to defend 2 leaderships; the rider class with Max Biaggi and the manufacturer class. This all-Italian squad is surely a great way to end the season.

The 2010 German season seemed to a boom for the Aprilia Alitalia team with nine unexpected wins by four-time world champion Max BIaggi and seven more podium finishes with three credited to Britain's Leon Camier. These winnings granted ranking leader Max Biaggi with 373 points which is 60 more than Suzuki's second-placed Leon Haslam. Aprilia has 385 points in the Manufacturers' chase against Suzuki->ke371's 334 and Ducati->ke622's 297.

Points leader Max Biaggi said, "I can't wait to get back on the track! The holidays are important and pleasant of course but the appeal of the track is always irresistible. The Nurburgring is a great track, and not as difficult as Silverstone for our RSV4. We're now into the decisive part of the season. Of course I'm happy with what we've achieved so far, but the day of reckoning is at the end, so don't talk to me about strange strategies and settling for points. We've got two leaderships to defend and it's not that easy: you can see how easy it is to lose points, our rivals are ready to capitalize on every wrong move we make. There are still six races left, that's 150 points, so the maths show that anything is possible. For the team, it's time for all of us to buckle down again, from here on every race will be decisive."

Before defending their positions at the German Nurburgring circuit, Max Biaggi and the Aprilia Alitalia Racing Team headed to the first day of practice which brought about some mixed results. During the free morning practice session Max Biaggi lead the way with a time of 1'56.571. However, the afternoon's timed session, Biaggi ended up with a time of 1'56.077 giving him sixth place. The bad news doesn't end there, though. Leon Camier came in sixteenth and then the Britain rider had a bad slide that left him with a knee injury and a wrist fracture. This condition clearly states that the Brit rider will be at risk for the last part of the practice session.

Max Biaggi commented: "We're having a bit of difficulty transferring power to the ground. We're suffering particularly from vibrations. I'd say it's nothing very surprising, but tomorrow we need to improve. We need to find the best possible setup. Today I also tried changing out bikes to evaluate the best different solutions and test the effects. Pirelli has provided a new tyre for everyone, but I didn't use it very much. Apparently we'll see an improvement with it, but I'll have to test it more thoroughly tomorrow. In short, this was a busy Friday. Now we need to put all of this information together and make the choices which will let us close in on the leaders."
