It’s perfectly understandable to have our eyes fixated at the start of the 2015 MotoGP->ke2192 season in Qatar. That’s only fair because Qatar will host the season-opening race this weekend. But right after that, MotoGP will head to Austin, Texas for the second race of the season at the Circuit of the Americas->ke3809. So in keeping up with our preview of the upcoming MotoGP season, the Circuit of the Americas has released a video featuring former world champion and current COTA track ambassador Kevin Schwantz as he takes us on a flying lap around the race track.

We all know the acrimonious history between Schwantz and COTA, but that’s really a story for another day and besides, the two have already settled their differences, which actually led to Schwartz being named as the track’s official ambassador.

So it’s fitting that Schwartz would put his ambassador duties to good use by giving us a quick preview of the Circuit of the Americas, explaining some of the intricacies and unique characteristics of the track that has made it one of the most difficult race tracks in the world. The 1993 500 cc world champion also took the time ride around the 3.4-mile grand prix circuit on board a Suzuki GSX-R1000.

Don’t pay as much attention to Schwantz riding the GSX around COTA. What you should you do is listen to his narration of the circuit and the requirements a race bike needs to be able to keep up with the demands of the circuit.

It’s a fascinating video that paints a nice picture of what’s in store for all of us when MotoGP descends on the Circuit of the Americas on April 12, 2015 for the second stage of the 2015 MotoGP season.
