I’ll be the first to admit that I’ve never heard of a snow bike before. Then again, that’s usually what happens when you live in a place where snow is more of a mythological concept than it is reality. So imagine my surprise when Red Bull->ke731 sent an e-mail alert featuring freestyle motocross->ke2962 rider Ronnie Renner and his buddies running roughshod over the snow in British Columbia, Canada with only snow bikes at their disposal.

So what exactly is a snow bike? Based on what I’ve gathered, it’s a motocross bike->ke295 at its core, but instead of its usual configuration, the front wheel was replaced with a ski and the rear wheel is aided with a snowmobile track. It looks incredibly awkward when it’s just sitting still, but once it starts moving the snow bike actually looks like a million bucks!

I never thought I’d see the day that such a machine could do all these things in the snow. I mean, have you ever seen a snowmobile track wheelie before? I haven’t, and it’s pretty sweet to watch Renner and his friends do it.

Check out the video and you’ll see exactly what I’m talking about. Snow bikes are pretty much useless in my part of the world, but if you snow at your disposal, this could be something that you can have a lot of fun doing.

Making snow men is cool, but snow bike riding is the business.
