The highly anticipated debut of the Yamaha MT-25->ke4425 could come on June 6, 2015, at least if you’re the type to put any stock on a recent teaser photo and video released by Yamaha->ke301 Indonesia that’s hinting on a #nakedvolution that’s set to drop on that day.

Now I don’t want to get too ahead of myself, but the teaser video of the launch makes it look like the event’s going to a pretty big deal. Yamaha Indonesia appears to be rolling out the red carpet for this one and images of a mysterious naked bike on the video only adds to that assumption.

Granted, there have been no specific announcements that the MT-25 will make its debut on this event, but let’s say that it does. First of all, it makes sense for Yamaha Indonesia to throw such a lavish party and highlight it with the debut of the naked version of the YZF-R25.

Doing it in Indonesia also makes sense since the Southeast Asian country is considered as one of the biggest motorcycle markets in the entire world. That’s especially true for small-displacement bikes, something that the MT-25 is expected to be.

It wouldn’t make too much sense for the bike to debut anywhere else, too, since Western markets are more inclined towards bigger models. Having the bike make its debut in Indonesia is a sign that Yamaha is more than ready to stare down the likes of the Honda CB300F and the Suzuki GW250F in the race for supremacy in the quarter-litre sports bike market.

There’s going to be no shortage of customers lining up to get a piece of the MT-25 when it officially hits dealerships down the road. What better way to announce its arrival than to throw a lavish street party in a country where motorcycles outnumber cars by a wide margin.

Like I said, I don’t want to get too ahead of myself, but I’ll be the first to admit that I’m excited to finally see the MT-25 in all its glory.

Why it matters

Yamaha’s playing its cards right if it does decide to unveil the MT-25 in Indonesia as opposed to other countries where the bike is also going.

I already mentioned that unlike North America and in most European countries where larger displacement bikes rule the roost, Asia is one of the biggest markets for the smaller displacement kinds. That includes Indonesia, which is actually one of the largest motorcycle markets in the world, period.

I fully expect the MT-25 to be a huge sales success in Indonesia, which is why holding its debut there could give the naked version of the YZF-R25 even more commercial boost and cache than what it already has.

The party to announce the bike’s debut should be off the hook, too. Have you seen the video? There are promises of so many events and live musical performances you would think that this was some kind of festival or something akin to that instead of its real purpose as a setting to debut a new motorcycle.

So yeah, Yamaha’s going full throttle on the MT-25’s launch, as it should because the company is banking on the bike to be a huge sales hit in the country. I already think it will but this event could also serve the purpose of generating enough buzz in neighboring Southeast Asian nations that there’s a new Yamaha motorcycle that’s become the talk of the town.

If the Yamaha MT-25 lives up to the considerable hype being placed on it, I wouldn’t be surprised if it turns into one of the company’s most popular models. The fact that it’s being put right smack in the middle of one of the world’s largest motorcycle markets is enough of that.
