The Husqvarna SMS 126 is a capable off road motorcycle that will reward you with a fun riding experience every time you jump on its back.

Its dual-purpose character makes it the perfect motorcycle for mixing the city riding with the dirty tracks.

At its heart lies a single cylinder, two-stroke unit with a displacement of 124.82 ccm. The engine is mated on a six speed transmission and is fed by a 9,50 liters fuel tank.

It is also worthy of being mentioned that the SMS125 comes with the ECS electronic carburetion system that helps it meet the Euro 3 requirements. You also get a new exhaust and silencer derived from the 125cc racing CR/WR.

To be able to deal with bumps without too much drama the Husqvarna SMS125 is fitted with Marzocchi 40mm USD forks and a rear Sachs adjustable shock absorber with Soft Damp linkage.

Overview

The SMS125 has become an icon for sixteen-year-olds, a sales phenomenon and a new fashion. It is the starting point for those who want to feel the thrills of an off road style bike, but is also ideal for everyday commuting in town. Easy to ride, light and easily handled, the 2011 version of the SMS125 has what it takes to confirm its status as category leader. The bike is available in two colour schemes. The red and white colour scheme shared by all Husqvarna off road models is now enhanced by the addition of bodywork graphics using "In–Mould Decoration", integrated to the plastic itself. The black and white version also has In-Mould Decoration. The bike is fitted with new handlebar guards.

Engine

The SMS125 comes with the ECS electronic carburetion system, an integrated system for electronic control of the fuel mix (both air/petrol and petrol/oil), developed in collaboration with Dell'Orto. The unit also controls the ignition system. This enables the2-stroke SMS 125 to meet Euro 3 requirements, contains costs, boosts commercial competitiveness and maintains all the advantages typical of 2-stroke engines: lightness, performance and low running costs. The new exhaust and silencer is derived from the125cc racing CR/WR.

Chassis

The suspension now features new Marzocchi front forks, specially developed for this model, further enhanced by the Sachs shock absorber with new calibration allowing greater flexibility and support.

Verdict

The Husqvarna SMS 125 is supermoto inspired and offers a perfect compromise between handling power and agility.

It is pretty safe to say that its overall performances are at least as good as the ones of any other 125 cc Japanese rival. Moreover, it also offers a pretty good value for its money and you won’t complain about the equipment either as it comes with Brembo brakes, Marzocchi forks, Sachs shocks and even a modern LCD unit (which unfortunately isn’t fitted with a tachometer).

In the end, the Husqvarna SMS 124 has anything it needs to be considered a cool looking off-road bike equipped with a reliable motor that helps you improve your riding skills in a fun way.
