Quotes

“Yamaha boasts that the Viking VI is the first true six-person Side-by-Side on the market. Rather than having two three-person bench seats, Yamaha created an individual seat for each passenger. Just like the front section of seating, the center passenger is situated rearward just enough to clear the shoulders of the left and right side riders. As with the original Viking, these seats all have individual three-point harnesses to keep everyone safe. Every sculpted seat contours to its passenger to give the support needed for long days in the saddle. Yamaha even took the rear-seated passengers into consideration to the point of making the front seat headrests hollow for optimal viewing of the trail in front of them. As well, positioning the rear passengers up 25mm will also lend to clearer vision of the ride ahead.

Ample floorboard space for the passengers onboard the Viking VI benefits from embossed tread to give the confidence and grip needed should a less than inspiring driver take the wheel. The pass through design allows riders to exit on either side of the Viking VI, front or rear. One additional notable would be the crazy amounts of storage under the seats. The Special Edition version of the Viking VI includes a sealed container.” ----- ATV

“While the Viking VI is basically a stretched version of the Viking, it wasn’t as simple as I had pontificated. Yes, the same 686cc liquid-cooled Single powers the two, but the engine electronics and Utramatic CVT transmission have been tweaked to work with the additional weight of the machine and extra passengers. Not only are the CVT ratios slightly altered, but the centrifugal clutch that allows for constant belt tension gets thicker friction material for more durability and better engagement for the larger machine. The middle driven gear has been shot peened for greater strength as well.

The suspension was also beefed up for the 1634-pound Viking VI. Heavier progressive rate springs have been installed on the nitrogen gas-charged shocks, matched with revised compression and rebound damping to keep the ride under control. Yamaha’s engineers also beefed up the A-arms with additional gussets. Even with the added load of the larger chassis and extra passengers the VI still retains the 600-pound payload and 1500-pound towing capacity of the three-seat Viking.” ----- 4wheeldirt

“Taking a turn in the Yamaha Viking VI EPS gives you a handle on the electric power steering and how more capable it is of navigating turns and corners. It has a steel dump bed that can hold up to 600 pounds, tow an additional 1,500 pounds and still have room enough for six riders. With the three point seat belts and the roto-molded doors allow for safe riding and comes with the Realtree AP Camo graphics.” ----- Motorcycle USA
