It isn’t as hardcore as a Nissan GT-R, but it certainly is very sporty. The Nissan Z-cars have been around for a long time and the 2014 370Z is the latest iteration of a long line of Z-cars that have come and gone.
Last year, Nissan updated the 370Z Roadster with new features like daytime running lights, an updated front fascia without compromising on the looks. The coupe has nice high shoulder and confident looks. Chopping off the roof hasn’t ruined the handsome exterior of the 370Z either.
For 2014, the Nissan 370Z Roadster employs a 3.7-liter V-6 naturally aspirated engine with 332 horsepower on tap. The engine is capable of churning out 270 pound-feet of torque @ 5200 rpm. For driving enthusiasts, Nissan offers a 6-speed manual gearbox which comes with Nissan’s SynchroRev Match system, while a 7-speed automatic with paddle-shift is also on the list.
The 2014 370Z is capable of delivering similar performance as the 2013 model. Combined fuel economy figures released by Nissan confirm that the 2014 model is rated at 20 mpg and 21 mpg for manual and automatic version respectively.
Updated 04/09/2015: Nissan announced prices for the 2016 370Z, which is now on sale at Nissan dealers nationwide unchanged from the previous year. The model is priced from $41,820, and the only update is a new Deep Blue Pearl exterior color.

Earlier this year, Volvo unveiled the Concept Coupe — the first of three concepts — based on the company’s new Scalable Product Architecture. The coupe was a design study commissioned to give us a glimpse of the future Volvo design direction.
Now under the watchful eye of Thomas Ingenlath, Senior Vice President of Design, the Swedish car maker has unveiled the second concept dubbed the Concept XC Coupe.
Per Volvo’s naming convention, ’XC’ is the prefix used for all things SUV. So, the Concept XC is nothing but a showcase future Volvo SUV designs, and it will show its face at the upcoming 2014 Detroit Motor show. This being a concept, Volvo has not revealed any technical details as of yet.
Like all manufacturers, Volvo too is switching to modular construction in order to keep a tab on development costs. The company’s Scalable Product Architecture will underpin all future Volvo cars, including crossovers, full-size SUVs and sedans.
Update 1/8/2014: With only a few days before it does its full undressing in Detroit, the Volvo Concept XC Coupe has dropped cover and revealed a few details about itself. You can see more after the jump.

It seems like we are off to a good start with news from Ferrari this new year. Recently, we brought you stories of highly cherished, classic Ferraris that will hit the auction block in 2014 and a brand new LaFerrari popping up at a used car dealership. The asking price is three times that of a brand new La Ferrari.
If $3.2 million for a used LaFerrari seems rather steep, then you’ll likely be outraged by the roughly $3 million asking price of this used Ferrari Enzo. Yes, the F60 that preceded the LaFerrari.
Ferrari built just 400 examples of the Enzo, which makes it even rarer than the LaFerrari, which will see a 499 unit production run. This very example of the 2003 Ferrari Enzo is up for sale at Fusion Luxury Motors in Los Angeles with just 354 miles on its ticker.
It is the last of the V-12 Ferraris with fewer computers and electric motors. The Ferrari Enzo is widely regarded as one of the most awesome Ferrari models ever manufactured .

Gazoo Racing from Japan is working on a couple of special cars for the 2014 Tokyo motor show. As you may already know, Gazoo Racing has been an active presence in the motorsport scene, as it has also raced in the Nurburgring endurance races among others.
Apart from the other concepts the team has produced over the years, Gazoo Racing will bring a very special, custom Toyota GT86 to the Tokyo auto salon.
The custom Toyota GT86 by Gazoo Racing will be revealed on January 10, 2014. We tried to snoop around for some more information about the upcoming sports car, but sadly, the company hasn’t provided any more details about it.
The Gazoo Racing concept will feature a large rear wing shown here in the teaser image. It could also get a full body kit and minor aerodynamic tweaks. Lightweight racing wheels with larger rotors for improved braking and handling performance.
We are waiting for Gazoo Racing to formally announce the 2014 Toyota GT86 concept, and until then, we could only speculate as to what upgrades could end up on the new car. We will be updating this story as and when the official information is out.

Until recently, the best place to spot supercars was the principality of Monte Carlo on the southern coast of France. Dubai has, in recent years, seen a huge inflow of high-performance sports cars and exclusive hypercars.
So much so that even the local police now roam in their very own high-power crowd pullers. The Dubai police department recently acquired a McLaren MP4-12C, adding to their fleet of Mustangs, Corvettes, Mercedes, Veyrons and Lamborghinis. Just imagine cruising through your local streets and suddenly seeing a Lambo with red and blues flashing behind you — now that’s some scary stuff.
The official video confirming the McLaren MP4-12C being added to the Dubai PD’s fleet is nothing short of glamorous. We still doubt that the Dubai police force will actually use these cars, the MP4 included, for anything besides gratuitous publicity.

Here we are with some more Ferrari news; this time it is about a Ferrari F40.
The F40 was and still is an extremely potent track car that hails from the motorsport specialists at Ferrari. The F40 was built it to commemorate the prancing horse’s 40th anniversary, and it went on to win the hearts of car enthusiasts around the world. However, it is not a car you take for granted because it can turn around and bite you, if you lose focus behind the wheel.
That’s exactly what happened with a F40 owner sometime back. Sadly, he ended up crashing it to such an extent that he decided to sell it off. A bunch wise fellas from Gas Monkey Garage then bought it for $400,000 and set on the journey of rebuilding this awesome supercar.
What they came up with is even more breathtaking; a Ferrari F40 for the 21st century. A complete rebuild later, they now plan to auction it off at this year’s Barrett-Jackson auction. The restoration work was aired on the popular TV series "Fast N’ Loud" Given the long hours put in by the team, the car could fetch more than $1 million. So, a $600,000 margin may be good enough.
The 2014 Barrett-Jackson auction will be held from January 12th through 19th in Scottsdale, AZ.

One may mistake it for the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Electric Drive, but it’s not. This rather ostentatious SLS AMG has been modded by the folks at the AMG Performance Studio.
For an additional cost, owners can send their cars over for a complete makeover and here is one such example of an SLS AMG tastefully modified to customer preference with bright fluorescent exterior and black accents. Most of the aerodynamic upgrades you see here are standard equipment on the Black Series.
The AMG wheels have been finished in a gloss black with fluorescent accents. The brake calipers, however have been left Solarbeam Yellow which is bit odd.
Underneath the paint, all the bits and pieces are from the standard SLS AMG Black, along with that glorious 6.2-liter, V-8 engine that puts out 622 horsepower and 468 pound-feet of torque. With this monster V-8, 60 mph comes up in just 3.5 seconds and the top speed is set at 198 mph.
Anyway, Mercedes-Benz has not revealed the name of the person who ordered this flashy car, but we expect to hear more from them about the very first SLS AMG Black Series to get the spa treatment from its very own Performance studio.

The Pagani Huayra is one of the most exclusive supercars money can buy. The company founded by Horaccio Pagani produces these masterpieces of automobile design and engineering on a small scale. In year, Pagani is able to deliver just about a handful of cars.
The Huayra is made to order keeping in mind individual customer preference. Pagani would do all types of exterior finishes, leather and carbon fiber. After you’ve confirmed the order and the payment made, Pagani starts building the car. That takes quite a bit of time.
However, now if you wish to own a Pagani Huayra and haven’t got the patience to wait for at least a year to take delivery, you can checkout the used car market. One such Huayra finished in pearl white over carbon fiber is up for sale in Dubai. The asking price for this exclusive hypercar is $1.7 million.
The car seems to be in great condition with just 373 miles on the odometer. The interior is finished in white and black leather with a substantial expanse of naked carbon fiber. Most of the car’s rigid monocoque is built using layers of carbon fiber. Certain mechanical components are made out of magnesium and titanium.

Gemballa reminds me of some of the most hideous looking tuning jobs ever, but, once in a while they do make proper supercars stand out from the crowd. Gemballa also specialize in tuning Porsches.
One of the very popular models they have worked upon is the Carrera GT. Gemballa created a handful of unique special editions based on the Porsche supercar and called the Gemballa Mirage GT.
These one-off cars were sold out almost instantly and being unique pieces of German engineering, Gemballa made few bucks on every car sold. Now, a Gemballa Mirage GT ’Special Edition’ is up for sale in Germany.
Given the standard car would have cost about $450,000 in the U.S., the used Gemballa Mirage GT has a price tag of $780,000. That is a lot of money even for a Carrera GT that has been tweaked to produce 650 horsepower and is painted black with orange accents. The car has 12,000 miles on its odometer.

After a long wait, Ford finally revealed the 2015 Mustang to the world on the December 5, 2013. This time, Ford is going global with the Mustang making it available in multiple markets outside of the U.S.

The 2015 Ford Mustang GT recently payed a visit to Jay Leno’s Garage. Starting with the Mustang 1, Ford embarked on a journey that created an world famous icon. The first production Mustang with chassis no. 0001 was also at Jay’s garage accompanied by the then CEO of Ford Motor Co.
A good history lesson then, before the 2015 Mustang rolled in and along came the Mustang Chief Engineer who worked on the project. This being a pre-production prototype, Jay did not get to drive it, though.
However, he did get the opportunity of cranking-up the 5.0-liter V-8 engine. And doesn’t she sound like sweet music.

Until recently, Lexus has released a couple of teaser images of their upcoming RC F coupe. The company has been cleverly revealing just bits of the car as a lead up to the official reveal. Today, we bring you what could be the first leaked images of the actual car. These pictures have appeared in a Japanese magazine.
The January issue of the Japanese Best Car Magazine reveal the 2015 Lexus RC F coupe in all its glory. That said, we’re are still not sure if it is a well executed digital render or a studio image of the actual car.
The front three-quarter image clearly shows a hood scoop, special F mesh grille, air ducts in the front bumper and side vents next to the front wheel arches. The headlights on the model shown here are of the HID type with two in each housing.
This is a car Lexus wants to pit against the all-new BMW M4. The sports coupe does have a tough task at hand especially since keeping it company is the biggest name in the segment. Unlike the BMW M4, the Lexus RC F could use a 5.0-liter V-8 engine with over 400 horsepower on tap.

Before McLaren began manufacturing their own supercar, they collaborated with Mercedes-Benz and came up with the 600-plus horsepower McLaren Mercedes SLR. A limited number of cars went on sale in the first half the previous decade. A later iteration of SLR was a special edition called the SLR 722 Edition.
It was named "722" as a tribute to Stirling Moss’ Mercedes 300 SLR no.722 that won the 1955 Mille Miglia. They also made roadster based on the 722 Edition. In 2009, a limited-run 722S made its debut. Only 150 units were ever produced. One of them is now up for sale in the U.K.

Ever wondered, why the Ferrari 250 GT LWB California Spider has "California" in its name? Here’s why. A Ferrari dealer based out of the U.S. requested the company to make a car named after their biggest market and hence the name. The sunshine state of California has been the home of Hollywood for ages and money was never short.
Even today, the sheer number millionaires in the state is mind-boggling. That said, with the advent of the age of information and technology, a new generation of billionaires have emerged. Anyway, back to the California Spider. The 1958 Ferrari 250 GT California Spider LWB will hit the auction block soon.
Experts suggest, the car could be valued over $8 million! One reason for such a high price is the fact that back in the days, Ferrari only built 50 examples of the California Spider. Now, the Ferrari 250 GT was a thoroughbred racer on which the California was based. The "LWB" stands for "Long Wheelbase". The market for old and rare Ferraris is huge. Only this year, RM Auctions sold an equally rare Ferrari 275 GTB/4S NART Spider for 25 million dollars!
And that’s not all, an even exclusive Ferrari 250 GTO fetched no less than $50 million. A short wheelbase version of the 250 GT California Spider also found a buyer recently. He apparently shelled out $11 million for the 250 GT California Spider SWB. The LWB California that is to be auctioned by RM Auction in Arizona is the 11th chassis (out of 50) produced by Ferrari and worked upon by the legendary metal worker Scaglietti.

Not so long ago, Lamborghini revealed its Gallardo replacement in the form of the Huracan LP610-4. The new supercar from Lamborghini looks strikingly similar to the larger and more powerful Aventador. But, the Aventador LP700-4 is a thing of beauty and hence we have no problems with the Huracan sharing a family face.
Within days of its unveiling, the internet was flooded with artist renderings of the Huracan in various configurations including a Spyder version. What we have here is Evren Milanos idea of the Lamborghini Huracan Superleggera. The artists even goes on to predict the engine specifications adding the suffix "LP640-4".
These renderings seem very close to the real thing. I personally like the one in yellow. Anyways, the artist has added a large rear spoiler and full body kit to the Huracan. Wheels are of a different variety. The front bumper gets a more pronounced splitter element while at the rear is diffuser for added downforce. We also like the idea of a roof scoop.
Although, Lamborghini is yet to release details about the lightweight Superleggera version, Evren Milano’s design gives us an idea of how attractive and exciting it can be. That said, the Superleggera will be lighter and more powerful than the standard Huracan. Hence, the predicted 640 horsepower seems realistic.

More V-8 supercar news. This time it is an American car with a massively powerful V-8 in the form of a Ford GT X1 TT. This highly modified Ford GT has been worked up on by Rich Brooks from the The GT Guy LLC. The engine in this car puts out no less than 1000 horsepower.
Ford built the Ford GT in 2004 as a replacement for the Le Mans winning Ford GT40. The company produced just over 4000 units of the GT. The standard car was powered by a 5.4-liter V-8 coupled with a supercharger.
The thirsty configuration was able to put down 550 horsepower. The car was designed along the lines of the original with flared rear haunches and low roof line. It was pretty unique car this.
Rich Brooks was able to double the output by adding a twin-turbo contraption to the already powerful 5.4-liter V-8 to a rare, limited edition Ford GT X1. Just 30 examples were ever built as part of a deal with the Genaddi Design Group.
The twin-turbo 1000 horsepower V-8 was then called the Ford GT X1 TT. At present, the car is in the U.S. with 3700 miles on the odometer and is up for sale for $450,000.

Usually, future product offensive and market strategy is a close a guarded secret in any organization. However, there are ways to dig out information that could give us some idea as what goes on behind closed doors. Autocar recently got access to trademark applications filed by Audi which clearly reveal some of the models that could enter production in the near future.
The documents show a few SUVs that Audi plans to introduce into the market. Starting with the much talked about Q2, Audi wants to launch a high performance version based on the Q2, dubbed "SQ2". The company has already committed to a Range Rover Evoque rivaling Q4 and SQ4 on the aforementioned lines.
In recent times, the market has seen increased demand for luxury SUVs. Audi sees this as an opportunity to spread its wings. The company has trademarked the name "Q9" for a future large SUV. They also have plans to offer fuel-cell technology in their road cars. Hence the name "f-tron" pops up onto the trademarks list.

Dubai is an oasis of hyper-expensive lifestyle in the middle of the Arabian desert. It is home to the tallest building in the world and the most expensive hotel suite, I would guess. Anyway, what this Emirate is also famous for, is its police squad. Renowned for its collection of supercars, the Dubai police certainly need them especially when there are so many privately owned high performance machines around.
Now, to keep a check on the ever growing population of millionaires and their supercars, the Dubai police have added a new squad car to their line-up. Dubai PD have taken delivery of a McLaren MP4-12C. So, if you have a need for speed, the 12C is the last thing you want to see in your rear view mirror.
Much to the relief of supercar owners in the region, the Dubai police use their supercars for promotional purposes and not to chase speeding boy racers. Like all the other cars in the squad, the MP4-12C gets the famous Dubai PD green livery over white base.

What happens when you pit a Dodge Challenger SRT8 against a big and heavy luxury limousine? Any rational person would bet heavily on the lighter Challenger, but there is on small exception about the nearly 4,700-pound competitor... it happens to be the Alpine B7 with a snarling V-8 under its hood. Now, that seems like a fair challenge, but that weight difference is a tough one to overcome.
So, here we have two V-8-powered cars; one is a coupe that is built to go fast and the other is a comfortable saloon that also has a little muscle behind it. The Challenger’s 6.4-liter V-8 puts out a very respectable 470 horsepower, but the 4.4-liter, twin-turbocharged V8 under the BMW Alpina B7’s hood makes 540 German-engineered horsepower. Now things are looking a little better matched...
So, who wins: raw American muscle or the nearly 550-horsepower luxury rig that is at a 500-pound disadvantage? Watch the above video to find out.

Given a choice, I would choose the Ferrari F12 Berlinetta over the Lamborghini Aventador. However, there are a majority of folks who would fall for the brutal power and aggressive looks of the Aventador. No wonder then, the big Lambo is so popular. Given the high demand for this 700 horsepower supercar, owners are more keen to personalize their cars.
That’s where aftermarket tuners like Premier Autowerkz come in. They have recently launched upgrades for the Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4. The extensive update includes a full body kit, fixed rear spoiler, new paint scheme and wheels.
The exterior is finished in a very attractive shade of blue and gloss black. The body kit consists of a carbon-fiber front bumper and splitter with a more aggressive front air intakes. A new carbon-fiber rear diffuser has also been added, and the exhaust system has been reworked for a unique Lambo howl. The standard retractable spoiler has been done away with and replaced with a fixed carbon-fiber piece.
PUR wheels adorn the large wheels arches on this Lamborghini Aventador. PUR RS05 wheels finished in metallic silver gives the car a sporty and distinct appeal. Brake calipers on this example are finished in a shade of gold. Under skin, the Aventador uses a the same 6.5-liter, V-12 with 700 horsepower and all-wheel drive. ’Launch Control’, thanks to the dual-clutch automatic transmission is standard.

"They hide in the bushes, they fly over test tracks;" the automotive paparazzi are always on the prowl, looking to grab a shot of the most secretive automotive projects. Ford has now revealed the next-generation Mustang coupe, and in this video it explains how the art of camouflage helped it keep the 2015 Ford Mustang under wraps, quite literally.
The iconic Ford Mustang, has been around for 50 years and has a huge fan following. So, it’s no surprise that the amount of excitement and curiosity was high ahead of the official reveal. Before we all get to see the car, it is essential for any car maker to keep it away from prying eyes during the development and fine-tuning phase.
Ford managed to keep us guessing for sometime before the Stang’s official launch, so what did it do to protect the car’s identity? As camouflage experts at Ford explain, they prefer to use soft vinyl instead of hard plastics that bind to the surface of the vehicle. The soft vinyl covers better and hides the contours of the body which made it rather difficult for us lot to get a peek at the lines.
As it seems, a lot of work goes into wrapping the car in vinyl, Styrofoam and plastic. During the early stages, our auto paparazzi had brought us heavily camouflaged images of the Mustang. As the launch date was nearing, the vinyls and plastics were replaced with psychedelic wraps to reveal the front fascia, and that’s when the internet became flooded with renderings of the 2015 Mustang.
With the official unveiling of the 2015 Ford Mustang, the teams are finally relieved of trying to keep it under wraps. But, this cat and mouse game between the car makers and the paparazzi continues, as we are still awaiting some special-edition models.

Chargespeed Japan has launched an aerodynamic upgrade for the R35 generation Nissan GT-R. The aero-kit is now available in the U.S. as well. Unlike other aftermarket body kits available for the Nissan GT-R, the "Bottomline" by Chargespeed Japan has been designed to blend into the GT-R’s contours. The company also claims to have improved aerodynamic performance of the R35 Nissan GT-R.
Nissan has spent years perfecting the aerodynamic performance of the new GT-R, so it is already near perfection, so any improvements by this kit will only make the GT-R better.
The front bumper gets an add-on air dam to streamline the air hitting the front bumper. The side skirts have been lowered to prevent air from getting under the car and causing lift. The rear uses tiny guide vanes at the upper edge of the rear windshield to direct air onto the rear spoiler. A rear diffuser also helps channel air from under the car to create more downforce.
The Bottomline kit is a made specifically for Nissan GT-Rs built between 2009 and 2013. The company also offers individual components for those of you who want to build it piece-by-piece.
All the parts are made of fiber-reinforced plastics, but customers can also opt for "Hybrid" carbon-fiber parts, hand laid with a 1x1 weave. Chargespeed is also working on an all-carbon body kit upgrade.

The Mercedes-Benz CLK63 AMG Black Series went into production in 2007. Back then, Mercedes built a limited number of these high-performance coupes, hence the price tag was not what you would call "affordable." It was expensive, had a terrible ride and it had no rear seats, which did not help when it came to practicality.
However, the CLK63 AMG Black Series was never built to be practical or even comfortable. What it did best was to put a grin on your face whenever the "go-go" pedal was pressed.
Our friendly, neighborhood gearhead, Jeremy Clarkson, owned one, and he loved it. The recipe for winning over JC from TopGear was simple. What Mercedes-Benz did, is take a standard CLK-Class coupe, send it across to AMG, who would shoehorn a 6.2-liter V-8 into the engine bay and do some adjustments to the suspension, etc.
Mercedes would then send the finished car to its "Black-Ops" department, which would throw away the rear axle and replace it with an "industrial-strength" axle and stick a note warning drivers that turning the traction control off can cause loss of life/property and hence isn’t advised. So, it was a car for crazy people, basically. And now folks at City Performance Center, Australia have turned it a mythical creature that makes unicorns seem abundant...

The holiday season is here and just to help you out with some gift ideas, here’s one special collector’s model that you might want to get for someone. It is a 1/12-scale Lamborghini Countach model built by the Japanese company Goodsmile. In total, this model is 345 mm (13.6 inches) long, 157.7 mm (6.2 inches) wide and 89 mm (3.5 inches) tall.
There’s no denying the fact that enthusiasts love to collect scale models of classics, as well as modern cars. There are quite a few brands that make detailed works of art and the one from Goodsmile doesn’t come cheap.
This Lamborghini Countach LP400 in 1/12 scale will set you back ¥120,000, which is about $1200 at the current rates. Yes, that’s a lot but if you look closely, the cars are built with utmost attention to detail. Goodsmile actually scanned the full-size car, using modern 3D scanning techniques to achieve this sort of perfection. Each of the 500 parts are meticulously die-cast, or formed in ABS or resin to give it the perfect shape and size. The models are so perfect that not even an inch of deviation is spared.
The classic scissor doors swivel up to reveal the supercar’s uber-cool interior. The engine bay door also opens, so that one can glance at the glorious V-12 engine that resides beneath. The cabin light turns on when the doors are swung open, headlights popup and instrument panel glows much like the real thing. The tires are hollow so that the weight of the car squashes them against the ground surface giving it a more authentic look. Rounding out this realistic model are wheels that you can remove and bolt back with a specially provided tool. Now, that’s really cool!
The unfortunate thing is that the models will not be ready for shipping until October 2014, so you will have to wrap up a picture of the model this Christmas and tell the receiver that it will arrive in about a year’s time. Alternatively, this could be an early idea for next Christmas.

The 2015 Ford Mustang was unveiled to the world recently, when Ford showed the pony car to public at launch events that took place at multiple locations around the globe. Ford now plans to expand in to new territories and that includes right-hand-drive markets, like England, Australia and Japan.
The iconic Ford Mustang does have an international fan base, therefore we weren’t taken by surprised to hear that the Mustang would venture outside of the U.S.
At the unveiling, Ford showed us the standard 2015 Mustang along with the 2015 Ford Mustang GT. Like we’ve said before, the styling is simply gorgeous, and we love the way Ford designers have incorporated certain design cues from the classic Mustang into this modern reincarnation.
The gills from the original return in the form of daytime running lights, while the triple-bar taillights are now more three dimensional to the naked eye. With the basic models well outlined, folks are now curious to learn about more power-packed versions of the pony car.
Well, that wait is nearing an end, as today an insider revealed a demo promo order system on dealer-side computer software, which clearly shows a Shelby GT350. This means that though the GT350 will likely return as a dealer-direct package, as opposed to a Shelby aftermarket add-on package. Short of the name, the screen grab doesn’t reveal much else.
To date, Ford has remained mum about the whole thing, as it could be preparing for yet another big event to launch the first of the Shelby cars based on the 2015 Ford Mustang.

Imagine driving a car on a rainy day with no windshield wipers. Sure, water-repelling chemicals help a bit, but without wipers, driving could get tricky. Modern automobiles are a result of over 100 years of evolution, and today’s supercars are unlike anything the father of the automobile would’ve dreamed of.
The 21st-century automobile is a complex system of mechanical and electronic parts, but some old bits, like the windshield wipers, are still a part of each and every car that rolls out of its respective factory. Well, McLaren has now embarked on a quest to completely revolutionize the concept of the windshield wiper.
The company plans to replace the mechanical wiper with an invisible force that would make these parts unnecessary. According to McLaren’s chief designer, Frank Stephenson, McLaren is currently working on a system that will use high-frequency sound waves across the windshield to keep it free of all debris, which is similar to the system used on modern fighter jets today.
Modern supercars do look like road-going fighter jets and use carbon composites and other materials from the aeronautics industry, so why not add more aerospace technology to the mix?
Mechanical wipers cause substantial aerodynamic loses and when it comes to supercars, like the McLaren P1, engineers spend months on end perfecting its aero-performance.So, the industry would definitely benefit if wipers as we know are replaced by sound waves.
What McLaren in planning, is to use an ultrasonic transducer to emit 30 kHz sound waves to help debris just bounce off the windshield. Of course, this a more simplified explanation and we’re sure it’s much more complicated than that.
There is no word on when this technology may be ready.

If you look into the history of the Toyota brand, the Land Cruiser has been around for more than half a century. It has long proven how capable it is on whatever terrain you throw at it. Where a Range Rover would fall apart, crying out for for maintenance, the Land Cruiser would continue to do its job. When it comes to reliability, the Japanese sure do have some secret formula.
For the 2013 model year, Toyota gave the Land Cruiser a mild makeover. New styling elements were added upon an already awesome-looking machine. The interior too was overhauled, with more standard features than before, while a rather potent V-8 engine provided the muscle required to take on the worst of rugged terrains. Added safety features and driver aides all made it easy to drive.
For 2014, Toyota has made subtle changes to the Land Cruiser. It still boasts the 5.7-liter, V-8 engine and a handsome-looking exterior, but the automaker has now standardized all optional features into one attractive package. So, the 2014 Land Cruiser will be available in just one trim level.

If electric car makers are to flourish in this highly competitive industry, then the cost of ownership needs to come down. Although, the electric car won’t replace conventionally powered cars any time soon, the high pace of the developments in electric car technology could one day allow automakers, like Tesla, to offer products at more affordable prices.
Tesla is now looking to spread its business into more mainstream cars for the masses, and this includes a midsize sedan that will be priced below the current Tesla Model S.
The new sedan, dubbed the Model, E will be revealed at the 2015 Detroit Motor Show with deliveries scheduled for early 2016. Chief designer, Franz von Holzhauzen, has told AutoBild that the midsized 3 Series competitor should be out in a years time. The new electric sedan is expected to be priced in the $30,000 to $40,000 bracket.
We are still awaiting more details about the upcoming Model E sedan. That said, we expect it to feature familiar Tesla styling with a wide oval grille and clean lines. The exterior and interior design would in all likelihood be influenced by the Model S which has now been widely accepted in the market.
Underneath, the new Model E could use a similar powertrain as the Model S. Batteries will be stowed away in the floor, and electric motors will drive the rear wheels. Tesla will almost certainly lower the output of the electric motor to help increase the overall range and lower the price.
Also helping lower the price, the Model E will likely have a few less interior features as the Models S.
We’ll keep an eye out for more information on the upcoming Model E, and bring you more information as it becomes available.

The Bugatti Veyron Super Sport can do 267 mph. The McLaren F1 from the 1990s could reach 240 mph. Not just once or twice, but given a straight enough road and a private police force to keep traffic out of the way, these cars can do those speeds all day long. You would probably need to carry a fuel tanker and semi full of spare tires along, but that’s the cost of having that much fun.
The Mclaren F1 had been the fastest production car for some time. Until, the Bugatti Veyron came along. Even before the McLaren F1 was conceived, the Ferrari F40 was the fastest production car with a top speed of 201 mph. However, things could have been very different if Callaway had made a claim for the title.
The Sledgehammer, which was essentially a hopped up and seriously modded Corvette, was developed in the 1980s and featured some of the most advanced aerodynamics for its time. So, why did this Corvette require such sleek aerodynamics? Well, to allow the Callaway Sledgehammer to hit its mammoth top speed of would top out at 254.76 mph.The Sledgehammer hit this top massive top speed on October 26th, 1988 with John Lingenfelter behind the wheel.
The aptly named Sledgehammer achieved what the Bugatti Veyron could do almost two decades later. Now you have the opportunity to own the Sledgehammer — one of the rarest cars on Earth — as it is set to cross the auction block. Unfortunately, the winning bidder won’t be permitted to drive it on public roads.

We are witnessing the evolution of the electric car. With the world’s biggest players having entered the market, we could expect development in this field to happen at a brisk pace. BMW already has its i Series in place and Mercedes-Benz is still pondering over the SLS AMG Electric Drive. Audi, on the other hand, shocked the world when it announced the scrapping of the R8 e-tron.
As we speak, folks at Audi are reconsidering the decisions they made in axing the R8 e-tron program. Yes, Audi is currently looking at options to put the R8 e-tron in to limited production by the end of 2014. The Audi R8 e-tron was the latest zero-emissions concept coming out of the Ingolstadt factory and now a select few among us could even own one. In order to facilitate the production of the new two-seat electric sports car, Audi has made a number changes to its research and engineering divisions, spending lots of money in the process.
Such an investment could only mean, positive steps have been taken in order to make the R8 e-tron a reality. Being a Volkswagen Group entity, Audi also benefits from research and development being done by its sister company for the VW e-Up, e-Golf and the XL1 hyper-mileage car.
It’s pretty crazy how quickly things can change in the automotive world...

When the going gets tough, it’s time to summon the Toyota Land Cruiser. When it comes to go-anywhere ability, the only vehicle that has managed to stand its ground against the Land Rover is the Toyota Land Cruiser, which in itself has earned a legendary status. For the year 2013, Toyota updated the Land Cruiser with added standard features and a styling overhaul.
Now, for the year 2014, Toyota has brought an evolutionary design change to the Land Cruiser. It may look different, but underneath it still is more or less the same burly, all-wheel-drive SUV with loads of features and creature comforts.
Like most heavy-duty off-roaders, the 2014 Land Cruiser is based on a body-on-frame platform that gives it added strength to take on the roughest of terrains the world can throw at it.
Over the past 60 years, the Land Cruiser has evolved from a manual select, all-wheel-drive utility vehicle into a luxurious SUV packed with the latest electronic aides, cameras and safety features. Has the addition of computer programs and guidance systems made exploring the farthest reaches of this planet child’s play? Lets find out.

McLaren will make just 375 examples of the P1 hypercar and each one of them is sold. Now that there are none left, one would have to wait for a P1 to pop up on the used-car market. Almost certainly, it won’t come cheap, as the standard car costs over a million dollars and given that 73 percent of the 375 units have been ordered with various options and personalized interiors, finding a basic, used McLaren P1 would be pretty difficult.
Having said that, if you do happen to have $2 million in spare cash lying around and have the urge to buy one for yourself, then you’re in luck. A dealership in Dubai is offering a used McLaren P1 for sale. Keep in mind that the term "used" is more of a technicality than anything, as it actually has zero miles on the odometer. The dealership bought the car direct from McLaren, which technically makes it a used car. This is currently the only known McLaren P1 for sale.
This specific example of the McLaren P1 has a yellow exterior with carbon-fiber trims and a black interior. You can checkout the car here.

If you are looking for a cheap, front-wheel-drive hot hatchback, then this isn’t the one for you. It is a Mercedes Benz A Class, and it’s got a masterfully crafted AMG engine under that custom hood. Welcome to the Mercedes-Benz A45 AMG.
This one has been wrapped in yellow gloss and a RevoZport kit, which includes the aero vanes on the front bumper, splitter, a rear spoiler, rear diffuser, and much more. The yellow color does drum up thoughts of the SLS AMG Black Series supercar, which Shmee150 rightly points out. It actually does go well with the A45, especially with the contrasting black theme.
The hood is one-piece, carbon-fiber unit and so are the wing mirrors. The roof of this A45 has also been blacked-out, as are the windows. Even the grille with the three-pointed star standing proud has been neatly incorporated into the theme. The wheels, which are in matte black, are from Brabus and the calipers are coated in solid red.
Then we come to the interior. The A45 AMG has one of the finest interiors in its segment. The influence of the SLS AMG supercar can be found here, as well. There is leather, Alcantara and red stitching. The dials are lined with brushed steel and so are the triple air-con vents. Altogether, a superb job, we must say.

We are less than 24 hours away from the official launch of the 2014 BMW M3 and M4 Coupe. The much awaited sports coupe and sedan have been around the world showcasing their fancy new bodies and along the sidelines, BMW has been steady releasing details about the powertrain and other technical bits to the media. There’s excitement in the air as the zero hour approaches.
Meanwhile, insiders close to the journalism fraternity are hard work trying to get as much information out to the public as possible. A few hours ago, we brought you the first official high-resolution images of both the cars, which had apparently leaked onto the internet earlier in the day. Now, AutoBild has blown the lid off of the embargo by posting a video showing both the M3 and M4 being thrashed around the Ascari circuit in southern Spain.
Unfortunately, the video is in German. We’re sure those who understand the language will enjoy the introductory video shot by AutoBild magazine, and those of you who do not understand can still understand the language the in-line, six-pot engine speaks. The short video also includes the original E30 M3, giving us an idea as to how much the M3 has evolved in the past three decades.

BMW is all set to launch the 2014 BMW M3 sedan and M4 coupe on Thursday, December 12, 2013. A day ahead of the launch, we bring you the first official images that have leaked onto the Internet. What you are looking at, is a set of official high resolution images of the new M4.
BMW had unveiled the concept M4 at this year’s Pebble Beach Concourse in a brilliant new shade of gold, but BMW did not reveal the interior of the Concept M4. Since the M4 Concept’s unveiling, we’ve spotted test mules of the car in Europe, as well as in the U.S. The M4 was also put through intense tests on the Nordschleife in Germany.
After the official unveiling of the concept M4, BMW released some basic technical details about the upcoming M3 and M4 and, as expected from an M performance car, the 2014 M4 packs some serious power and modern technology.
BMW will announce the pricing for both the M3 and M4 on December 12, 2013. Keep watching this space for more on this.

If you think Ferraris are exclusive, think again because just down the road is a small company run by a man called Horacio Pagani. The Pagani Zonda was his first creation and nowadays, technicians in his factory hand-build the Pagani Huayra.
With the limted-run production of the Zonda having ended, Horacio took up the new Huayra project last year, but unsurprisingly there are some wealthy enthusiasts of the old Zonda. These enthusiasts prefer the naturally aspirated AMG-sourced 7.3-liter V-12 over the twin-turbocharged engine of the Huayra.
Over the years, the Zonda has evolved into its ultimate expression, the Zonda R. Built for fun, the Zonda R was just an exercise to see how fast the supercar can actually be. The car was not road legal, so it was never offered for sale. Pagani did, however, make road-going special editions of the Zonda R.
Recently, Pagani came out with the Zonda Revolucion and it said that this will be the last of the special editions. As it happens, it isn’t the last Zonda, as unique Zonda Revolucion was spotted at the factory by Marchettino. What’s so unique about it? Well, the carbon-fiber body on this car has a blue tinge to it, but you can still see the weave in the carbon fiber under the glossy lacquer coating.
In the above video, you can see that the car is still being assembled at the factory. As is the case with most hypercars, it is still a mystery as to who owns this beauty, but whoever it is, he or she is one of the luckiest souls on the face of this planet.

Hyundai Motor Co. has launched a new sub-brand called "N." The new brand will consist of high-performance road cars, as well as the ambitious rally car project. As we know, Hyundai will be a part of the 2014 World Rally Championship and its resident rally car, the i20 WRC, will be the first product built under this new N brand.
By now, you must be wondering why the letter "N;" well, Hyundai is based in Namyang, Korea, and that is where the "N" comes from — easy enough. In an odd twist, the Hyundai N performance division isn’t actually based in Korea; it is actually stationed in Alzenau, Germany, which just outside Frankfurt.
This German plant is home to the 2014 rally car, and it is where the company has plans to build its road cars under the new N sub-brand. Having said that, we can’t say for sure whether these N performance rigs will be bespoke sports car or just tuned versions of existing Hyundai models.
Speaking at the press briefing, Hyundai motorsport president, Gyoo-Heon Choi, said: "This is the start of a new chapter in Hyundai’s history, one that we expect to have a positive impact on our brand around the globe."

Autocar recently had the opportunity to chat with a lead engineer from Lexus and according to the ex-development lead of the Lexus LF-A project, there are a few new high-performance models lined up for the future. The interaction with Haruhiko Tanahashi also raised rumors about a V-8 powered RC F coupe that could be headed for the 2014 Detroit Auto Show.
So, although an LF-A replacement won’t happen in the near future, a couple of F models may provide some excitement. That is until a more reasonably priced LF-A enters the fray.
The new ’F products’ would form the Japanese car maker’s premium high-performance range, starting with the RC F, GS-F and IS F. Lexus is gearing-up to introduce the second-generation IS F sedan for a later date, while the RC Coupe could get a V-8 engine transplant soon.
On top of all of these in-the-works goodies, Lexus officials also hint of performance hybrids being a part of the F-product lineup. That is sure to get anybody amped up — gratuitous electricity pun very much intended.

WhatCar? reports that Land Rover could launch a pickup version based on the next-generation Defender. The news broke after Land Rover design boss Gerry McGovern explained that the pickup can only be launched when more conventional models of the Defender hit the market.
Now, Land Rover is planning to introduce the new Defender in the year 2016, this according to reports, which will be available in five- and seven-seat configurations, and permanent all-wheel drive. The WhatCar? report goes on to say that the upcoming Defender pickup would be a premium offering with all-wheel drive as standard. It is touted to rival the Volkswagen Amarok
The pickup version will only come in a five-seat, crew-cab configuration with permanent all-wheel drive. Traditionally, the Land Rover Defender has been available in various body styles, including hard top, soft top, wagon, utility wagon, chassis cab, double cab, etc. The rugged Defender platform has proven to be versatile, which can be tailored for specific applications.

It is an American icon, this Chevrolet Corvette and the latest C7 Stingray just got the approval of a veteran Corvette fan. Mat Juechter is 80 years old and has seen this icon evolve into what it is now. Recently, this Corvette connoisseur took delivery of his very own 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray.
Mat Juechter is not only a huge fan of the Corvette, but he is also the father of Tadge Juechter who was the Chief Engineer on the 2014 C7 Corvette project. His father, Juechter Sr. is nothing short of a gearlhead, and he had been driving the previous-generation C6 Corvette up until now. When he saw the new Vette, he simply knew it was time for an upgrade.
Another interesting fact about the Laguna Blue C7 ’Vette Stingray that Juechter Sr. just bought is its license plate, which reads, "MYSNSCR" — an adaptation of "My Son’s Car." Mat picked-up his C7 Stingray from the National Corvette Museum recently.
Mat has also owned a couple of Porsches during his life and used his C6 Corvette for the past five years as a daily driver.

In 2013, Land Rover introduced a totally new generation of its flagship Range Rover and Range Rover Sport SUVs. The brand is known to produce some of the finest premium off-road luxury vehicles in the world and it did not come as a surprise to us when the world bestowed it with praise, as has been the case with Land Rovers historically.
Yes, the Range Rover has grown into a mature off-road vehicle and is in league of its own, when it comes to luxury motoring. While, the Range Rover sits at the top of the food chain, its smaller sibling, the Range Rover Sport, has had its fair share of successes. MotorTrend magazine honored the RR Sport with the coveted ’SUV of the Year’ and now Four Wheeler Magazine has awarded the Range Rover Sport with "Four Wheeler of the Year" for 2013.
This is the third time a Land Rover SUV has won this award after intense and grueling testing both on tarmac and on rugged terrain designed to test the off-road capabilities of the vehicle.
"It is a great achievement for the very luxurious and performance oriented Range Rover Sport to be named ’Four Wheeler of the Year,’ by the country’s oldest four-wheel drive enthusiast publication," said Kim McCullough, Brand Vice President, Land Rover North America.

How often do you get to experience a super fast luxury station wagon doing insane speeds on test bowl or even a twisty, complicated and undulating test track? Audi UK recently ran a campaign where guests were invited to experience Audi’s ’S’ and ’RS’ range of premium sports cars.
Millbrook proving grounds is a purpose-built test facility in Bedfordshire, England. It includes a high-speed bowl where the cars can be maxed, plus a twisty Alpine test course with elevation changes and tight bends. The Alpine course was designed to mimic actual mountain roads where the car’s high speed handling and stability are pushed to the limit.
Guests got a chance to ride alongside a seasoned driver and experience the limits of the cars. The new Audi RS6 Avant was the star of the show, much to the surprise of just about no one. Despite its immense size and weight, the RS6 was pretty quick around the Alpine track, and on the high-speed bowl, the RS6 hit speeds in excess of 170 mph.

The Mitsubishi i-MiEV is one of several all-electric cars available in the market today. Yes, it’s expensive and and very odd looking, to say the least, but it does have its place in the automotive world. It may not replace a conventionally powered car any time soon, but for quick drive to the nearest supermarket, this could do the job. And while doing so, it would emit zero harmful pollutants into the atmosphere.
Like most electric cars, the i-MiEV is based on a gasoline-powered car — the Mitsubishi i Kei, in this instance — with a few modifications to allow Mitsubishi to squeeze-in an electric motor and a set of batteries. The i Kei was best suited for the conversion, thanks to its long wheelbase and short overhangs that provided decent room for 4 to 5 adults. Additionally, its five-door hatchback design meant there was ample cargo room, as well.
More than the technical drawbacks of an electric car over conventionally powered automobiles is the high cost of manufacturing, which hampers its market penetration. Mitsubishi is striving to get these costs down and appears to have driven them down slightly for 2014, as it has decided to slash the price of the i-MiEV electric car.
With revised pricing and a new list of standard features, how does the i-MiEV stack up against its competition? Read on to find.

"Lairy" is defined as cunning or conceited; ostentatiously attractive or flashy; or aggressive or rowdy. Is this how you would define the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Black Edition? Well, this is exactly how the fellas over at TopGear feel about it...
According to TopGear magazine, the last iteration of the SLS AMG GT Black Series is more manageable than its predecessors and Jeremy Clarkson loved it for its power and tire life. However, for the rest of the world, it’s an inconvenience. And this put the ’Black Series’ in the top position as TopGear’s "Lairy Car of the Year."
It is lairy, but in a good way, they say. It lets you have all the fun and still assists you if you get slightly overboard. “It looks like it wants to bite your leg off, but actually it bear hugs you and covers your back like a best mate. It is lairy but not scary.” We’re willing to bet that those convoluted, yet genius, words came from Clarkson’s own mouth.
Tom Ford (@tomwookieford) quoted Tobias Moers, Chairman of Mercedes AMG GmbH, as responding to the award with "Thanks - that’s pretty much what we were aiming for with the car." Ah, a tongue0in-cheek response to a even more tongue-in-cheek award — isn’t the world of automotive journalism such a wonderful world!
Anyway, so there you have it. TopGear’s "2013 Lairy Car of the Year" is the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Black Series.

Who said you can’t enjoy a supercar while it snows? This driver certainly didn’t want to stay indoors on a frosty morning, so he decided to crank up the C7 Corvette Stingray parked in his garage and head to a parking lot.
Yes, an empty parking lot on a snowy day with no one around except for a friend with a camera in his hand. Let’s do some donuts, shall we? And this isn’t just any Chevrolet Corvette Stingray. This one has a supercharger from Pfadt Race Engineering, which spools to bump the power output to 650 horsepower.
Pfadt Performance also offers a Stage 2 conversion for the C7 Corvette Stingray that includes headers, exhaust, tweaked ECU, etc. Also available is a body kit and wheels for the new C7 Vette.
That is more than sufficient to get the rear tires loose on an icy parking lot. And of course, a lot of fun despite the miserable weather.

The Land Rover Defender has lived a long and glorious life that began back in 1948. The Defender is set to retire in 2015, following 67 years of production. Seen as an example of highly rugged British engineering, the Defender went on to conquer the world, thanks to its go-anywhere ability.
Land Rover plans to replace the Defender with a new model, based on the DC100 Concept. That said, the legacy of the original Defender has rendered it with "classic" status.
A. Kahn Design specializes in the customization of Land Rovers and its latest creation is based on a Defender 2.2 TDCi. Kahn likes to call it the Land Rover Defender 2.2 TDCi SW 90 Chelsea Wide Track.
Kahn retained the classic shape of the Defender, but the subtle detailing make this Kahn Design Defender rather special.

It is a well-known fact that cars like the BMW M3 and the larger M5 are so perfect that they are nearly impossible to make any better. That’s about as perfect a sports sedan can be. You could toss in a custom cat-back exhaust, new mufflers and larger wheels and that is about it. Going any further with engine mods will ruin the fun of owning a BMW M-series.
You can, however, add on an aftermarket body kit, if you like, and give the M5 a little extra style.
Vorsteiner, a California-based tuner, has an upgrade kit that can help make your M5 stand out. The company has just released aero mods for the 2014 BMW M5. The kit includes a front carbon-fiber spoiler and a rear diffuser both of which are cured in an Autoclave for increased strength and durability. The carbon-fiber composites are treated with a four-stage, UV-inhibiting clear lacquer coating.
Vorsteiner also offers unique 19-, 20-, 21- or 22-inch wheels with widths ranging from 8.5 to 13 inches, and a cat-back exhaust for the F10 BMW M5. You also get a couple of Vorsteiner badges and other minor exterior modifications.
Aside from the cat-back exhaust, there are no other engine mods to speak of on this Vorsteiner-modified M5.

How often do you think, the 2014 Chevrolet SS does not produce enough power? Apparently, it is a performance sedan with over 400 horsepower crammed into its engine bay and still, it isn’t enough for many motorheads. More is always better and in the case of the Chevrolet SS and its V-8 powerplant, there’s even more to be had than just 415 horsepower.
Callaway was first to come forward to inject some pop into the 6.2-liter, V-8 engine with a nice tuning package. With it, the Chevrolet SS pumped out 570 horsepower and 535 pound-feet of torque. Now, that’s what you call a performance sedan. At least, Callaway seems satisfied with the output.
Our friends from Texas aren’t far behind either. Hennessey Performance has put up a teaser video of what we could expect form the world-famous tuning house. The video shows a base-line dyno run of the 2014 Chevrolet SS sedan. On the dyno, the SS clocks 359 horsepower at the wheel and 367 pound-feet in factory-spec, which seems about right.
Although, information about the Hennessey-tuned Chevrolet SS is scarce, we believe Hennessey could be aiming for an output figure of around 600 horsepower. This may be slightly more than the Callaway SS, giving Hennessey a slight lead in tuning the next great Chevrolet sedan.

The 2013 Essen Motor Show has just concluded, giving us a sense of what’s going on in the European tuner car scene. Manhart Racing had very special car on display, much like other tuners who had gathered at the annual exposition. But, before we come to that, let us give you a brief background of the donor car.
The BMW M135i has captured the imagination of every auto enthusiast on this planet. A small, affordable hatchback with a pokey little in-line six-cylinder engine developing loads of power and bucket full of adrenaline.
Manhart has taken the M135i and turned it into a rear-wheel drive drift maniac. How have they done it and why are we so excited about it? Well, we think 400 horsepower would answer all your questions.
Yes, this tiny BMW M135i now produces 403 PS (397 horsepower) and 561 newton meters (413 pound-feet) of torque from its six-cylinder engine. That’s 63 PS more than the standard car. So, you have 403 horses driving the 19 inch OZ Ultraleggera wheels. What could go wrong, apart from lots of tire smoke.

The new supercar was named after the recently founded department within Automobili Lamborghini, which manages all motorsport activities from GT3 to the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo championships in Europe, Asia and America.
When compared to a base Gallardo LP 560-4, the new Squadra Corse version is lighter, more powerful and delivers improved performance figures. As expected, carbon fiber played an important role in the developments of the new Gallardo supercar and many elements were taken from the race track and brought to the road.
Lambo will fully outline the new Squadra Corse at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show.

The sudden death of actor Paul Walker came as a massive shock to all of us. Popularly known as Brian O’Conner, his contribution to the Fast & Furious series will always be cherished in the hearts of his friends, family and fans alike.
Walker played the character of an undercover cop turned road racer in the movie and starred alongside Vin Diesel (Dominic Toretto). The first installment of the movie featured some of the greatest tuner cars of the 1990s and one such car that caught everyone’s attention was the MK IV Toyota Supra.
One of the most famous scenes in the movie was the drag race between the Supra (driven by Paul Walker) and Vin Diesel in his 1970 Dodge Charger R/T, which nearly ended in a dead heat, but not before some intense high-speed action involving a freight train at a railroad crossing and some serious air time.
We take a look at the orange Toyota Supra that rose to fame thanks to its role in the The Fast and the Furious.

The Lamborghini Veneno hit the scene to a relatively lukewarm reception at best, but the lack of media and enthusiast frenzy sure didn’t stop it from planning a roadster version. The new Veneno Roadster was unveiled this past weekend, and there are few differences between it and the coupe model.
The typical roadster has a top that the driver can raise and lower at his demand, but the Veneno is no typical car. Instead, Lamborghini opted to hack the top off altogether.
In terms of overall design, the Veneno Roadster looks nearly identical to its coupe brother, so it retains that crazy exterior look, with exception to it lack of a roof.
Unlike the coupe versio, which was limited to just three units, Lamborghini will limit the new Veneno Roadster to nine units. Each will carry a price tag of $4.5 million.
Update 12/2/2013: The $4.5 million Veneno recently made its public debut in Abu Dhabi. The venue for the unveiling was something out of a Hollywood movie scene. That would be, an aircraft carrier. "We are honoured that Lamborghini was chosen to represent the Italian car industry in the UAE, as a perfect example of iconic Italian super sports cars, and that we have the opportunity to show the Veneno roadster for the first time in Abu Dhabi," said Lamborghini boss Stephan Winkelmann during the press conference.

The rotary engine was the brainchild of German engineer Felix Wankel, and Mazda was the first automaker to put the Wankel invention into production vehicles. Mazda has been producing rotary engines and using it to power its cars since 1963, despite its few drawbacks. Over the years, the company has worked on this concept to make even better rotary engines, which culminated with the Renesis series of naturally aspirated rotary engines.
Since the demise of the Mazda RX-8, the company has put the rotary engine production on hold as newer models moved onto cleaner and more efficient powerplants. Today, the rotary engine does not appear in any Mazda product. An now, the only car maker in the world that has embraced the Wankel engine might be on the verge of putting it to rest for good. We hope that does not happen but that’s what new CEO at Mazda, Masa-michi Kogai alluded to in an interview with Automotive News.
In an interview with the publication, Masa-michi San emphasized on the commercial proposition of the rotary engine. The company would have to generated a sales volume of 100,000 units per year in order to make the rotary engine a viable business option. Masa-michi San also said that generating profits for the company will be a priority and sticking with rotary engines does not seem to be the right path to take, at least for the moment.
The previous boss at Mazda Motor Corp. had hinted at a possible rebirth of the rotary engine in a future hybrid vehicle. The engine would be used to generate electricity to charge a set of batteries. Since then, we haven’t seen a single concept or even an official blurb from Mazda, which begs the question, have we seen the last of the Mazda Wankel rotary engines?

BMW has been on the forefront of research and development of Eco-friendly mobility for the future. The company has invested heavily in cleaner, more efficient propulsion technologies. The recently launched ’i’ sub-brand has been the result of years of development in order to provide futuristic, efficient and Eco-friendly products at affordable costs.
The "electric car" as we know it, has been evolving at a rapid pace, and with advancement in battery technology and "wonder materials," like carbon-fiber, we could be on the brink of a steady switch to electric mobility. BMW is convinced that electric cars are the future of motoring and will concentrate their efforts in this direction.
Board member of development at BMW, Herbert Diess, was speaking to Autocar on this subject. Electrification, according to him, is imminent and fueling the growth of the electric car would be newer, more stringent emission regulations. The automotive sector is among the most regulated businesses today, and government policies would play a major role in deciding the future course of the automotive scene. Europe would be the epicenter for this as has been the case since medieval times
Having said that, there has been no change in the BMW philosophy of "sheer driving pleasure." Until recently, electric cars’ lack of appeal and character, along with a high asking price, had kept the common public away from the idea of owning one. The performance-crazy half of the populous have seen the potential of the electric car and have slowly began to accept the idea.
The BMW i8 is an example of a performance-oriented electric car concept. It combines numerous futuristic technologies into a highly desirable and unique automobile with BMW driving DNA. Same is the case with the BMW i3, albeit on the other side of the spectrum.
European emission regulations call for reducing carbon and particulates to 95 g/km and meeting these standards would call for more electric-drive technologies. Stricter regulations would mean Europeans would most likely be the first to see these technologies in daily use. Already, modern BMW cars feature a combination of hybrid drive and conventional engines. A point will be reached when further reduction in CO2 emission would be difficult. This would eventually require us to shift to 100 percent electric drive.
The BMW i8 has shown the way and future BMW models would be fitted with entry-level electrification. Plug-in hybrids and hybrids would soon become the norm dictated by emission regulations. Full electrification would be the ultimate goal as we try reduce our carbon footprints down to acceptable levels with respect to the global environment.

Back in May, we reported about a tuned Subaru Impreza STi that lapped the Nurburgring Nordschleife in record time, becoming the fastest Impreza to lap the world-famous racetrack. The team behind the record-breaking car, Revolution Motorstore, built it with utmost attention to detail and total commitment, with an aim to set a new lap record for a Subaru Impreza.
The folks behind this awesome, record-setting project now plan to sell the Subaru Impreza "Project STi". An advertisement was recently put up Revolution Motorstore official Facebook page. "Project STi" is now up for sale at £42,995 which is just over $70,000.
That’s a pretty steep price, sure, but keep in mind that this is no ordinary Impreza. The tuner went to great lengths in order to make it competitive. Major changes have been done to the interior and the exterior, including the removal of the rear doors. Not like the rear doors are needed anyways, as in place of the back seat is a custom-built half roll cage.
The tuner also replaced the stock 2.5-liter engine with a 2.0-liter, four-pot boxer engine from a JDM Impreza. Apart from the engine block itself, the rest of the parts have either been replaced or reworked for improved performance and durability. The net result is an engine that now puts out over 500 horsepower and upwards of 500 pound-feet of torque.
The suspension systems have been overhauled from ground up, so it can tackle any track you throw at it. Standard brakes would’ve never stood up to the punishment and hence had to be replaced with larger discs, new calipers, brakes lines, fluids, master cylinders, and more.

It began life as a humble Skoda Octavia, but destiny had different plans for it. The Romanian owner of this car had a wild, almost crazy idea of building what could be the fastest Octavia on the planet.
no need to mention that it is fast, as that is pretty obvious, but we do have to mention that it is fast enough to beat a Nissan GT-R. Mind you, the GT-R is one of the fastest-accelerating, all-wheel drive road cars on sale today. The Skoda in question also happens to have an interesting all-wheel-drive system under its skin.
Ghita Silviu is the Romanian man behind this creation, and he started off with an off-the-shelf Skoda Octavia with front-mounted, transverse engine. This 2.0-liter TFSI engine from a Golf GTI puts out a healthy 200 horsepower in the standard car, but in this example, it churns out a whopping 460 horsepower.
That’s not all, folks. Where the rear seats once lived, there is yet another engine powering the rear wheels. This is the same 2.0-liter TFSI, but with a slightly less intense 330 horsepower. This second engine has a standalone intake, cooling and exhaust systems. The combined output of the two engines is — wait for it — 790 horsepower!
The videos attached with this article prove the fact that this tricked-out Skoda is quicker off the line than a Nissan GT-R. How embarrassing would it feel to be beaten by a Skoda if you happen to be at the wheel of Godzilla, which hits 60 mph in just 2.9 ticks. This monster of an Octavia completes the sprint from 0 to 60 mph in just 2.5 seconds. That’s Bugatti Veyron-like performance. Additionally, the Skoda blitzes past 120 mph in nine seconds. Unfortunately, once off the line, we can’t make out who crosses the quarter-mile marker first, so that needs to be investigated as the videos fail to prove the GT-R fell to the mighty Skoda.

Toreros come and go, as do the bulls they fight. The Lamborghini Gallardo has retired from the arena after almost a decade in production, and now the Lamborghini Cabrera, or whatever the final production name ends up being, is next in line to replace the best-sold Lamborghini to date. Spy shots of the upcoming bull are all over the Internet, and now, for the first time, an Italian magazine has published what could be photos of the production Cabrera.
Although we can’t confirm these to be of the actual supercar, the designers are worthy of praise for giving us a glimpse of what could be the next Lamborghini model in the December issue of Quattroruote magazine. If these images are just digital renders, then the artists deserve loads of credit.
With these supposedly leaked images of the Cabrera wearing a Aventador-esque dress in yellow hue, you do get a sense of a baby Aventador — just like all of the rumors are claiming this new model will be.
The sleek headlamp cluster has twin luminous strips in a "V" shape, The front bumper, with its large twin air-intakes, are also something you would expect on a Lamborghini.
From the side, the subtle similarities with the Aventador are more evident. Towards the rear, the horizontal taillight cluster and the unbroken mesh grille under it have been carried over from the past model, albeit with redesigned, contemporary look.
These images certainly look the part of real leaks, but with so many spot-on renderings circulating the Internet, we cannot say if these are real or not.

If it’s a classic from Maranello that is rare and has won races in the past, you can’t expect it to come cheap. That fact that was proved once again at a car auction in New York, where a gorgeous 1964 Ferrari 250 LM, along with other more collectible items from the history of the automobile, were on sale.
Noted auction houses, Sotheby’s and RM Auctions, brought 32 trophy vehicles that fetched a total of $62.8 million in sales. Of that $62.8 million, the Ferrari 250 LM was contributed a whopping $14.3 million, more than double that of the previous 250 LM sold and a new record for the model.
The sale of the 1964 250 LM also got its name in the costliest Ferrari’s ever sold list. Ferrari never produced more than 32 examples of the 250LM.

The first thing that crossed our minds when we saw Kode9 by Ken Okuyama Design was the [Speed Racer] movie. Ken Okuyama is a well known car designer from Japan who has, in the past, headed the design team at Pininfarina. His famous works include the Ferrari Enzo and Maserati Quattroporte. Well, he also loves building special one-offs, and the Kode9 was one such concept that was showcased at this year’s Tokyo Motor Show.
The influence of Italian automotive design is evident in Ken’s work, and the Kode9 is an example of that inspiration. The exterior design of the Kode9 can be related to some classic sports car as well as modern concepts. Despite the similarities, the Kode9 sits as a uniquely different design form and a rather attractive one, to say the least. Most of the parts used have been made using modern technologies like 3D printing and carbon fiber.

Hyundai has announced a set of upgrades for the 2014 Hyundai Veloster. Overall, the Veloster retains its shape with that gaping front grille and the oddball rear profile, but the big news is the addition of a Veloster Turbo R-Spec for next year.
This announcement was made during the on-going 2013 LA Auto Show. Hyundai claims, the "convention-shattering" Veloster adds convenience, performance and safety, making it more desirable than before. Well, its unconventional hatchback design never really struck a chord with our visual senses, but that’s just our opinion.
Since the Veloster Turbo’s release, we’ve wondered if Hyundai would take advantage of the fast-growing hot-hatchback market in the U.S. and reveal a hotter variant. With the new R-Spec model, Hyundai did just that and then some, but the Korean automaker did not reveal all of its specs just yet.

We understand, classic Ferrari models don’t come cheap. And even though we don’t plan to buy one anytime soon, we do keep browsing through online classifieds once in a while, but that still doesn’t mean that we can afford one. Today, we happened to stumble upon this rare and pristine example of a 1985 Ferrari 288 GTO. These classic scarlet red Ferraris are hard to miss and rather valuable.
Ferrari of New England is among the premier Ferrari dealerships in the country and this certified GTO is now on sale for a mind-boggling $1.8 million. That’s a lot of money, only until you realize that Ferrari made only 272 examples of it. In 2009, the previous owners spent $35,000 on maintenance for this 288 GTO and now has 17,352 km (10,782 miles) on the odometer. The regular maintenance work included new brake pads, gaskets, timing belts and other pertinent items.
So, if you happen to be in the market for a nearly $2 million classic Ferrari, this mint-condition model may be up your alley.

Somewhere along the way, people have continuously slept on the Chevrolet SS as a performance-minded sedan that’s ready for its turn of the spotlight.
With aftermarket tuners like Callaway on its side, the SS is primed and ready to be the car we all thought it would be. Callaway knows what its doing when it comes to Chevrolet vehicles and the program it prepared for the SS just goes to show how far the performance sedan can go when treated with a nice dose of tender love.
The unquestioned highlight of Callaway’s program is the engine upgrade, which comes with an extensive list of new components, including an Eaton Roots-style TVS supercharger system, liquid-to-air intercooler, increased-flow-rate fuel injectors, a high-flow intake system, and a low-restriction exhaust system, all of which lets the car’s 6.2-liter, V-8 engine produce a staggering 570 horsepower and 535 pound-feet of torque — a nice increase from the stock 415 horsepower and 415 pound-feet of twist. This is good enough to allow the SS to cover 0 to 60 mph in just 4.5 seconds — down from teh stock 4.9 seconds — to go with a top speed of somewhere in the neighborhood of 180 mph.
A few other pertinent features highlight Callaway’s program for the SS, including the tuner’s badging on the car, embroidered seat mats, and key fobs, among others.

The CEO of Peugeot, Maxime Picat has confirmed to Autonews that the French car maker will make an even hotter version of the 208 hatchback. It will be called the 208 R and Peugeot will place it a notch above the 208 GTi.
Now, the 208 GTi isn’t just a throwaway grocery getter, so to speak, it is as mental as the GTi badge on its hatch indicates. The Peugeot 208 is among the smallest and lightest of the micro-hatchbacks, and the GTi takes it one step further by giving it some poke.
The 208 R would pack even more punch than the GTi, enough to spin its front wheels on demand. Having said that, we don’t expect Peugeot to give it monumental levels of power, or it would just understeer wildly and ruin the fun.
To put it in perspective, the 208 GTi makes use of a 200-horsepower, 1.6 -liter engine, and its top speed is pegged at 143 mph with a dash from 0 to 60 mph taking 6.8 seconds. We expect the 208 R could use the same powerplant as the GTi albeit with a tweaked ECU to push out an extra 20 to 30 horsepower.

If you love racing games, then you are likely familiar with Electronic Arts’ Need For Speed series. Young folks among us would’ve probably missed the days when the world of virtual racing was dominated by three words; N-F-S and everyone of us had t8he game on our PCs. I still remember the time spent speeding along canyon roads, and sunny beaches in a machine called FZR2000 — an add-on for the NFS-II SE. This car could do 248 mph if you managed to stay on the road and not crash into traffic.
Those were the days...
Later versions of the game featured numerous real-world cars, much to our liking. They even made a brand-specific game, which narrated the evolution of Porsche. One sports car brand that we, as enthusiasts of the game, missed was Ferrari. If I am not wrong, Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit was the first NFS title to feature the prancing horse.
Sadly, in later iterations of the game except for a few, Ferrari was kept out, although the quality of racing simulation kept on getting better and better.
Now, what seems like ages since the first Need For Speed title was launched, we finally have a proper lineup of Ferraris to enjoy. Need For Speed: Rivals will be in stores on November 15, 2013 for PS4, on Nov 19, 2013 for PS3 and Xbox 360 and on Nov 22 for Xbox One with some proper Ferrari content. Electronic Arts has released a set of images of the upcoming title and we have compiled them here for your viewing pleasure.

Elon Musk, CEO of electric car maker Tesla, has categorically denied any plans to recall the company’s flagship Model S electric sedan. This comes as numerous reports of the Model S’ fires came to light. News of multiple Tesla Model S fires have been reported to date, and an official investigation into the matter is yet to be undertaken.
That said, U.S. regulators are yet to confirm any form of investigation into the Model S fires. If the government regulator does find a fault, we could be looking at a potential recall of select models. However, Tesla boss does not think a formal investigation should be required and that Tesla cars are way safer than any other fossil fuel-powered automobile.
Musk was quick to attack those media channels that, according to Elon Musk, had blown the whole thing out of proportion. "Reaction to the fires reported by some media are extremely inaccurate and unreasonable," he added. Since, the first report of the fires, Tesla stocks have plummeted by 22 percent, sparking fears among investors.
The NHTSA is in constant contact with the authorities investigating the accidents. The agency had earlier chosen not to investigate into the fires when the first incident came to light.

Land Rover has done it again! This time with the Range Rover Sport, Land Rover has broken the land speed record for crossing one of the most inhospitable places on Earth. It’s no secret that despite their relative softening over the years, Land Rovers are still synonymous with land exploration. That’s what its cars are meant to do and what better place to explore the limits of the 2014 Range Rover Sport than to attack the desert of the Arabian Peninsula.
The Range Rover Sport completed the journey in record time, setting the fastest average speed of 50.87 mph in the process. The starting point for the record run was Wadi Adda Wasir in Saudi Arabia, and the challenge was to cross the "Empty Quarters" over to the border with the United Arab Emirates. The Land Rover team crossed the vast expanse of the desert in 10 hours and 22 minutes, covering a distance of 527 miles.
Moi Torrallardona, Dakar Rally veteran from Spain, was at the helm of the Range Rover Sport. With years of off-road experience under his belt, Torrallardona was the perfect man for the job.
“Desert driving requires a unique combination of speed, finesse and technical skill. It is crucial that you tackle the dunes with precision. Knowing the right time to go full throttle and the right time to slow down, takes experience and clear judgement,” said Torrallardona.
“This unique way of driving requires a vehicle which has the same skillset - it must be both incredibly fast but also agile, responsive and well planted. The Range Rover Sport is exactly that. It is massively capable and is truly the best tool for conquering the desert,” he added.

With performance sedans, like the Ford Taurus SHO and the Dodge Charger R/T, having some success in the U.S., General Motors had little choice than to call upon its Australian division — Holden — for a car that could tap into this market and succeed. That’s exactly how the Chevrolet SS became a reality
Both the Taurus SHO and the Charger R/T have plenty of options, and the Charger even has a slew of new performance options, like the upcoming Scat Packages. All this while, GM has started shipping Chevrolet SS units into the U.S. from Down Under, resulting in only a few basic options and no real driveline options to speak of.
In Australia, the Holden Commodore — the model that the SS is based on — has 455- and 580-horsepower variants available from Holden Special Vehicles (HSV). This raised some red flags with performance nuts.
Automotive Magazine brought this to the attention of Chevrolet Performance Cars Marketing Manager, John Fitzpatrick, and he provided some positive feedback. When asked about future plans for the Chevrolet SS, he revealed that a more powerful version of the Chevrolet SS could possibly makes its way to the U.S., including a manual transmission.
Fitzpatrick said that GM is planning on selling 2,000 to 3,000 SS models per year, and if these numbers are met, GM will start further exploring importing the aforementioned HSV variants. He made it clear that the limited options and lack of higher-performance models is purely to keep the model profitable, while GM gauges customer demand in the SS.
Needless to say, this is pretty promising to hear, and may relieve the concerns among Chevy fans.

The battle between Sony’s Playstation and Microsoft’s Xbox gaming consoles is no child’s play. This is the real thing and in a market where demand for more realistic graphics and realistic physics keeps growing, both console makers are having to rework their hardware to suit the ever growing needs of the target customer. That’s where Xbox One and Forza 5 come into the picture.
Forza 5 promises to cater to the need for more realistic racing experience this year and to achieve this, the fifth edition of the Forza Motorsport franchise will lean heavily on the capabilities of the upcoming Xbox One.
The makers of the game have already released a list of cars that it will feature in Forza 5 and more could be in the pipeline. For now, they’ve introduced a long list of cars that the game will include, and this new list includes some modern cars, a few from the 90s and a few from the 70s. Unfortunately, the list of cars is down to only 200 — down from 500 in Forza 4 — but Turn 10 Studios has also promised more detailed cars and super-detailed tracks. We prefer quality over quantity, but the loss of 300 models and some tracks — the Nurburgring included — may be too much for gamers to swallow.
Forza 5 will also be the first to offer the LaFerrari, but — there’s always a "but" — it will not be included with the game. It will actually be offered as at-cost downloadable content... There is also a rumor that Nurburgring will also be offered as downloadable content, but there is nothing on whether it will be free or not.
Turn 10 is claiming that it is not holding back content to drive up interest — and profits — from downloadable content, and that it is purely trying to offer the most detail possible. We think this is part true and part garbage, as most gamers wouldn’t care if the Nurburgring had a minor flaw or if a car wasn’t 100-percent accurate but we do understand Turn 10 wanting to offer a totally accurate experience.

Mercedes-Benz is set to retire its flagship sports car — the SLS — next year. That’s correct, the AMG-tuned Mercedes SLS will go out of production in July 2014, but the car that will take its place has been seen testing quite a few times and we know it as the Mercedes SLC. Some sources, however, suggest that the new car could be called the Mercedes GT instead.
Where the Mercedes SLS AMG was pitted against the Ferrari 458, Lamborghini Gallardo, among others, the 2015 Mercedes Benz GT (SLC) will rival the Porsche 911 Turbo. This means that Mercedes Benz will re-position the GT down a segment to compete in a much more lucrative market among the Porsches, Jaguars and Audis. That said, a more expensive and faster version will also be available.
The new car will be assembled at Mercedes-Benz AMG at Afalterbach, Germany and will share the production line as its predecessor. According to Autocar, the Mercedes-Benz GT AMG is to be unveiled at the German Grand Prix next year and will go on sale in 2015.

In-line sixes have been a forte of BMW for some time now, but a look back in history reveals an unbroken relationship between Mercedes-Benz and straight-six engines. This engine configuration has its advantages over the rest and that’s why car makers prefer in-line sixes over others, even today. Mercedes-Benz dropped it from their lineup two decades ago but they’ll soon return.
We’ve learned through Autocar that the next-generation E-Class is destined to get an in-line six-cylinder engine under its hood. The 21st century automotive engineering is all about reducing costs without compromising performance, and that’s where modular architecture comes in to the picture.
The new generation of Mercedes engines will be a part of a modular design, allowing them to spawn three-, four- and six-cylinder engines. The new engines will debut on the 2016 W213 generation Mercedes-Benz E-Class.
Plans are already on track for the mid-life update for the new C-Class that is yet to be revealed. The new C-Class should get the new family engines by 2017 — a three-cylinder engine is touted to be a part of the C Class line-up then.
On the technology front, Mercedes-Benz will also debut what’s called an "Autobahn Pilot" on the 2016 E-Class and 2017 C-Class; today we know this as the autonomous diving assistant, which still in testing phase at the moment.

We are soon to see a sudden surge in the number of new premium luxury SUVs. The fact that Aston Martin, Bentley and even Lamborghini are considering to add an all-wheel-drive sports utility vehicle to their lineup is evidence to the current market situation where the wealthy are demanding uber-premium SUVs.
The rise in demand for such a product hasn’t gone unnoticed when it comes to quintessential luxury that is, Rolls Royce. The BMW-owned British luxury marque is aware of the developments taking place in this segment. Aston Martin is pursuing the reintroduction of Lagonda in the form of a luxury SUV; Lamborghini has already unveiled the Urus concept; and Bentley is contemplating an SUV that would satisfy the needs of the average Bentley buyer.
For Rolls Royce, who has been the crown jewel of the segment for years, it might not be as easy as it seems. Its cars have always had a special place in the hearts and minds of not only those who own them, but also those who admire them for their timeless charm. Despite the potential negatives, a Rolls Royce SUV is in the cards, thanks to the aforementioned spike in interest.
According to Rolls Royce boss, Torsten Müller-Ötvös, they are currently investigating whether the brand can carry such a vehicle in its portfolio and that both crossover and shooting brake styling options are on the table.
If Rolls Royce does go ahead with either of the two, the basis for the upcoming model has almost been finalized. The current Rolls Royce Ghost platform, which shares its components with the BMW 7 Series, seems a worthy option as the SUV’s base. The Phantom’s platform would work, but it would be too expensive to make, given as Rolls Royce is targeting a price tag of around $400,000. Additionally, Rolls Royce could easily adapt the Ghost platform to accept an X5 drivetrain and suspension components.

The Tokyo Motor Show opens its doors for the public in two weeks time. As we know, Nissan will make an exciting announcement at the show. Yes, it is the Nissan GT-R Nismo that debuts on November 19th, 2013. The company will also disclose the Nurburgring lap time set by the Nismo GT-R. But that’s not all, as Nissan will also showcase the Bladeglider concept.
Along with the concept car, Nissan will also reveal a concept prototype based on the Bladeglider, but toned down for actual production. The production version will have its sights set on attacking rival cars, like the Toyota GT 86 and Subaru BRZ. Andy Palmer- VP at Nissan told Motortrend that the Bladeglider will be the car for the young generation.
The origins of the Bladeglider concept can be traced back to the Nissan ZEOD RC racer, and that’s where the unconventionality begins. The designers of the Bladeglider concept describe it as "an extreme interpretation" of what a car can be. The thought behind the concept is to offer an affordable and appealing sports car to young people, according to Andy Palmer of Nissan.

The Nissan GT-R is among the fastest-accelerating cars on the planet, second only to million-dollar hypercars. The evolution of the GT-R has been an interesting story, and the next-generation Nissan GT-R will mark yet another important milestone in its storied history.
Nissan has already started working on the next iteration of the GT-R, and for the first time, a top executive at Nissan has confirmed to that the new model will feature a hybrid powertrain. Now, don’t start thinking that this will be some a Hybrid that focuses only on being "green." Nope, this will be more of a performance hybrid, similar to the Porsche 918 Spyder’s setup.
Though these hyper-hybrids are just as fast as their gasoline-powered counterparts, we believe that a hybrid powertrain alters the "wow" factor of performance. Anyway, speaking to Autocar, Andy Palmer — engineering, sales and marketing boss at Nissan — said that there is an "inevitability" about electrification of all future cars and that the new Nissan GT-R "will see some form of hybridization".
For the time being, the Nismo GT-R will remain the flagship model and will receive annual updates. Nissan is known to launch upgrades for the GT-R every year, and the Nismo GT-R will be no exception. The updates include tweaks to the engine for extra performance, improvements on the aerodynamics front, etc.

Rolls Royce brought a very special car to the 2013 Geneva motor show, and it happens to be the fastest Rolls Royce ever produced. The Rolls Royce Wraith was thus launched, keeping a unique set of individuals in mind: young billionaires who prefer a bit of sportiness along with unadulterated luxury. The Rolls-Royce Wraith delivers on both fronts.
Back then, the company did not disclose any plans of a convertible — Drophead, as R-R calls it — version of the Rolls-Royce Wraith. Now, Rolls-Royce boss Torsten Müller-Ötvös has confirmed via Autocar that the Wraith Drophead Coupe will see the light of day in a couple of years time. Like the Phantom, the Wraith will get a folding soft top and the company would start taking orders in 2015.
Speaking of the Wraith, Müller-Ötvös felt happy the way things have progressed since the launch of the product in mid-2013. The company has received positive feedback about the Wraith, and it has been able to attract first-time buyers to the exclusive luxury brand.
According to Müller-Ötvös, the sporty character of the Wraith has also attracted previous Ferrari owners, and these are people who know their performance cars. The Wraith delivers on its promise of high performance along with bespoke luxury, and that is the primary reason why the Wraith gets a thumbs up — even from Ferrari owners.

The new BMW M4 and M3 sedan go on sale early next year. The buildup to the launch has been an exciting one, partly because the car in question is a rather special automobile and partly due to the slow stream of information that has been coming out in the media. More recently, a dealer order guide was leaked revealing most of the optional packages, colors and trims.
This time, we will see a clear differentiation between the coupe and the sedan, which marks the debut of the M4.
The M3, on the other hand will retain the performance of the M4 and add four-door practicality. Looking at the history of M cars, one would expect certain performance upgrades that have always been a part of the package. The M differential, launch control system, ceramic brakes and a dual-clutch transmission would never be left out.
Apart from the usual M performance systems, BMW has added a host of personalization options, along with new illumination systems and driver interface. Three distinct packages are on the option list: Driver Assistance Package, Executive Package and Lighting Package.
Most of the driving aides, including lane departure warning, blind spot detection and exterior cameras, are part of the Driver Assistance Package. The Executive Package includes premium leather, heater steering wheel, Park Distance Control, Heads Up Display, Satellite Radio subscription, etc. For the first time, BMW will offer full -LED headlamps with automatic high beams, which is part of the Lighting Package.
A separate options list has been included wherein large diameter M Carbon Ceramic Brakes, an M Adaptive Suspension and an M Double-Clutch Transmission with Drivelogic would be fitted to the car for a few extra bucks over the base price.19-inch alloy wheels are also a part of the options list, as is a Harman/Kardon surround sound system.

The Acura NSX is widely regarded as one of the finest handling and fun-to-drive sports cars of the bygone era. Acura is the last brand that comes to mind when it comes to mid-engine, purpose-built sports cars, but that’s what it did back in the 90s, and it took the world by surprise.
Until then, Acura, and its parent Honda, were attributed to affordable, reliable and economical modes of transportation for the masses. Then, they rolled out the NSX with a mid-mounted, V-6 and close to 300 horsepower. Now, the car maker plans to launch a replacement for the legendary NSX and promises not to disappoint.
The production of the NSX ceased back in 2005, and it left a long legacy behind. Building on the legacy of legendary sports car is no easy feat. And that’s exactly what Honda and Acura engineers are faced with when it comes to the new NSX.
Little has come out in the public as far as the development of the 2016 NSX is concerned. That said, those at the helm of the project have their sights set firmly on some of the biggest names in the business. Ferrari, Porsche, Nissan and Audi already have cars that are competing with each other on the global scene, and Acura is shooting to offer all the qualities of a Ferrari 458 at a highly competitive price tag.
Ted Klaus, the person in charge of the development Acura NSX, was talking to Autocar recently, and he said “The NSX has never been about a set of figures on a piece of paper,” he said. “As with the original, the eventual power figure won’t grab headlines, for instance, but the qualities that you can’t write down, such as driver involvement and pleasure, are the ones that will matter."
"As engineers, we like numbers, but I’m acutely aware that if we build this car against a set of criteria that has been written down, we will lose our sense of focus.”

The biggest highlight of this year’s Frankfurt motor show has to be the BMW i range, including the production i8 hybrid-electric sports car. If you look at the BMW i range, the Bavarians have taken a giant leap when it comes to putting together sustainable-energy motoring.
Until now, the Toyota Prius has managed to stand the test of time, although of late, sales have been slow despite it being Hollywood certified. Unlike the Prius, the BMW i3 is an all-electric hatchback, which means prospective owners would have to live with the anxiety of running out of juice at the wrong time. Hence, critics would choose to disregard the i3 much like any other purely electric automobile.
Now, the U.S. market will see the BMW i3 go on sale in the latter half of 2014, but it hits showrooms next month on the other side of the Atlantic. That said, BMW is taking advance orders for the car, and you will be surprised to know, much like BMW themselves, that more folks are showing interest in the i3 than initially thought.
BMW Europe already has 8,000 pre-orders for the BMW i3, which is way beyond what the company had expected. In fact, BMW is now pondering a further increase in investment to boost production if demand for the car persists. This was confirmed by BMW’s chief financial officer during a press conference.
Are we witnessing a paradigm shift in the way we perceive electric mobility? Well, it is difficult to confirm but the BMW i range has certainly caught the attention of the people. BMW has made huge investments into this project, as some estimates claim that BMW has pumped as much as $2.7 billion into the i range. Even with this massive investment, BMW is set to make a profit on each car sold.
The morale is certainly high at BMW and riding on the success, the company has already trademarked i1 through i9. Quite obviously, the i1 would be the smallest of the i-range and the most affordable. We suspect that the i9 may be a higher-performance version of the i8, although BMW does not wish to make an M Performance version of the i8.
