The new Maine Cat 38 is stronger, lighter, and a blast to sail.

General design theory of Maine Cat 38 is lightweight, high performance, simple to sail and maintain. Open bridgedeck offers better visibility, better looking and great air flow. The high fineness ratio length to beam ratio close to 12:1 when kept light. Flared hulls with protective “shoulder” drier ride and huge interior volume. Retractable daggerboards and engines beachable, higher pointing angles and less drag off the wind. Gunkholers delight 29” draft.

Build from the lightest structural components possible by thermo-forming Core-Cell PH core and resin infusing 100% vinyl ester resin in female molds. Finished boat is 2 hull and deck units, capped bridge deck platform, rig and roof and you are ready to go sailing in an ocean capable, high-performance cat. Maine Cat is offering a very simply equipped package to keep the price as affordable as possible. Maine Cat offers a host of options you can add yourself in time or Maine Cat can install at the shop during the initial build. Maine Cat goal is to get you out on the water sailing as economically as possible before you start adding “stuff” you might be able to live more comfortably without. Every piece of equipment you add requires maintenance and time taken away from sailing.

Headroom minimum 6’-3” to the maximum of 6’-10”, painted headliners. Berths for up to five (5), two (2) queen berths aft in each hull, 60” by 6’-8”. Large single in port hull forward is 50” wide at the head by 6’-8” long. All cushions below decks (total 3 pieces) are 5” thick medium-density foam. All interior bulkheads are resin infused Core-Cell foam cored painted finish. Fiberglass head starboards forward with sink, shower sump pump, marine head, storage cabinet and separate shower area.

Maine Cat design includes twin 15 hp 4-stroke fuel efficient outboard engines housed in nicely faired twin nacelles port and starboard. The engines have power tilt and fully retract clear of the water.

Auxiliary power, twin 15 hp lightweight 4-stroke outboards, high thrust, 25" extra long shaft, power trim and tilt. Easy deck accessibility under port and starboard bench seats for servicing. Added safety from having redundant twin engines.
