Elan has taken the popular E range and enhanced these yachts for greater performance. The hulls and decks are infused with a high quality Vinylester resin using Vacuum assisted infusion lamination technology and multidirectional Fiberglass to considerably improve the strength, and reduce weight. With weight reduction in mind the Elan Team developed a light weight interior consisting of Oak veneered Fineline plywood with a foam core. These items contribute to a lighter, faster sailing yacht whilst being true to the Elan philosophy of a yacht that fits both performance and cruising purposes.

The hull is built with sandwich construction using multi-axial Fibreglass in 3D VAIL technology.

The hull is built with sandwich construction using multi-axial Fibreglass in 3D VAIL technology. To improve the mechanical and chemical properties the hull is built using vinylester and Isophtalic polyester resin with the SVG gelcoat ensuring an optimum chemical resistance against osmosis. The moulded inner structure is glued and laminated into the hull. The deck is built with multi-axial Fiberglass with reinforced laminate at mounting positions.

VAIL
VACUUM ASSISTED INFUSION LAMINATION
Elan’s hull construction technology ensures the required hull strength and stiffness, while using the least amount of material possible in order to save weight and make the yacht more responsive and enjoyable to sail. Furthermore, the 3D VAIL technology brings better carrying capacity with increased hull strength and reduces the risk of osmosis.

CHINED HULL
Chined hull helps with the yacht’s tracking ability upwind and clean off the wake, giving the yacht improved high speed and control downwind. When heeled ideally the yacht reaches an optimum underwater hull shape with a small wetted surface for minimum drag. Chines also prevent broaching because it works as a long skeg. Matching the maximum beam with the optimum underwater hull shape leads to the design of a chined hull.
