2007 Fountain Mercury 33 Sportfish Cruiser
Fishermen who want a world-class angling platform and a cozy place to hang their hats have jumped on the bandwagon. The super fuel efficient twin-step hull born of a great offshore racing heritage is unbeatable in rough or calm seas.
2007 Fountain Mercury 33 Sportfish Cruiser
The 33 Sportfish Cruiser adds another dimen¬sion to performance by integrating func¬tion and comfort to a cruising/fishing boat at a level allowing it to perform equally at the island anchorage or yacht club diner cruise and the serious offshore competition fishing scene.
On centerline of the Fountain 33 SC a large hatch, which lacks a strut to hold it open, provides access to the generator, batteries, bilge pumps, and the raw-water plumbing for both the air-conditioner and genset.
The Mercury Verado outboards are the finest on the planet and twin 275’s will push the 33 to 50+ mph. Technology, experience and superb craftsmanship add up to a boat that is taking the world by storm. Scan the competition, there’s not another boat out there that even comes close to this one.
The other power options that Fountain Mercury offers to their customers are: a Twin Mercury 250 Optimax XS, a Twin Mercury 300 Optimax XS, a Twin Mercury 250 Verados and a Twin Mercury 300 Verados.
Inspecting the Fountain 33 Sportfish Cruiser’s hull shape you will realize that this boat is more than just another go-fast with a fishboat deck bolted on top. The forward hull section below the waterline is full and slightly convex, providing increased accommodation space and enhanced lift when approaching oncoming swells. Its stem, raked at about 30 degrees, displays less distance between the stem at the waterline and the stem at the deck than you’d find on a raceboat, minimizing the chances for stuffing the bow while trolling.
The 33 Sportfish Cruiser’s cockpit really impresses. Sporting deep fishboxes, two livewells, locking rod stowage, and 60 square feet of unobstructed area abaft the helm deck will “greet” you when you step aboard. The cockpit is arranged for serious catching. Under-gunwale rod stowage secures a pair of 50s per side, is lockable, and has 7 feet PVC tubing to protect the tips of your rods. A rigging station is on the transom. At the cockpit’s forward end are another livewell and a tackle storage unit. These modules are the perfect height for crew to sit on and watch strikes. The benches in the cockpit provide seating for eight without sacrificing space. The centre helm provides excellent visibility and offers an ergonomic layout and fingertip control of practically every vessel system.
The Fountain 33 SFC has a real helm chair rather than one of the company’s signature racing-style bolster seat/leaning posts. Nevertheless, the ergonomics of the helm station can’t be beat. Full-performance gauges assure that you’ll never be in doubt as to what those high-performance power plants are doing. The GPS speedometer with memory and trim-tab gauges come along as standard equipment you rarely see on other boats even as options.
Now let’s talk about the interior of the 33 Sportfish Cruiser. Below decks a large galley countertop wraps forward along the port side, with a deep stainless sink and faucet, single-burner cooktop, under-counter refrigerator/freezer and cabinet storage. Over the counter top is more storage and a microwave oven. To starboard is a full-sized enclosed head compartment with molded-in sink and stand-up shower. A full length hang¬ing locker is forward of the head. The V-shaped settee forward features a table that when lowered creates a full sized double berth. Looking aft, under the helm deck is a full dou¬ble berth sleeping area. Under deck you can find everything you wish for: indirect lighting, curved, high-gloss laminate cabinetry, solid door frames, supple headlining, and lounge upholstery counterpoint its all-business topsides, an enclosed head with shower, the complete galley and sleeping accommodations for six. Let’s not forget about the entertainment: the Flat screen TV/DVD combination.
With the twin 275 hp Mercury Verados standard engines the Fountain Mercury 33 Sportfish Cruiser reaches a top speed of 52 mph. the most economical speed is at 4000 rpm: 29.8 mph.
The 33 Sportfish Cruiser handles like a touring car, carving right around, which is also impressive for a stepped-hull boat but not so strange regarding the tradition that Fountain has in building sport boats.
When you take command of this incredible machine from Fountain Mercury’s first-ever center helm station, you will immediately experience the performance and safety they are famous for. So from now one the only thing you’ll have to do is to take your friends out on a fishing trip.
