Princess Yachts is preparing to restore the Project 31, the company’s very first model as part of its 50th anniversary celebration.
The occasion couldn’t have come at a better time for the company, which is earmarking its golden anniversary with a plethora of celebrations, none more important, it turns out, than bringing back to life the model that literally launched the company’s name into the high seas.
The historic project will include taking out parts from the original hull design of the boat and sending them to the company’s facility in Plymouth, UK, where engineers will take the helm in repairing, repainting, and reconditioning these parts to give them a modern twist.
Princess Yachts’ interior design team, Princess Design Studio, will also play a big role in the reconstruction of the Project 31 as it will create what the company describes as a “nostalgic interior concept” that pays tribute to the original interior of the iconic boat while mixing it splashes of modern materials, giving it a refreshed ambience fit for today’s style.
The company has yet to announce its plans for the Project 31 once the restoration project concludes. No exhibitions have been scheduled at the moment, but considering the lengths Princess Yachts is taking to bring its first-ever boat back to life, the company will likely schedule a public display at some point in the year.
What good would a 50th anniversary celebration be without showing everyone what you did with your first-ever boat.

CGI Finance, known for its business in marine financing and refinancing for new or used boats, has announced plans to open a new website that will specifically cater to buyers looking for a quick and accurate quote on their boat financing needs.
It’s a new endeavor that fits into the company’s core business of providing financing for customers looking to get into the admittedly expensive maritime market. In fact, CGI Finance is considered as the largest boat financing company in the other side of the Atlantic and counts Princess Yachts, Bavaria, Jeanneau, and Beneteau among its clients.
While the creation of this new business site doesn’t really speak well of the boat market, specifically the number of lenders getting out of the market in recent years, CGI Finance is determined to make a stand of sorts, drawing the proverbial line in the sand as if to say that this is one lending company that’s not going to be scared of the perceived erratic conditions of the boat industry.
Part of the firm’s plan is to offer terms ranging from four to 15 years with both fixed and variable APR options. Anybody who looks for a quote on a specific boat will receive details with longest terms and lowest deposits available. Interested buyers can then adjust these terms to suit their preferences before the revised quote is sent to them.
It sounds like a pretty straightforward business, but CGI knows well enough that the boat market is a lot more complicated than that. Still, the company was able to assist and get amenable financing for 73,000 clients in 2014. With the launch of the new website, it’s not out of the realm of possibility to see that number increase significantly.

Princess Yachts is set to add its newest member of the family with the autumn launch of the Princess S65, bringing another exciting new model to a range that just introduced the S72. Sounds like Princess Yachts is looking to make some waves in the high-speed sportbridge yachts. Can’t say that I blame them since that particular line of yachts is becoming more and more popular these days.
The company wants to take advantage of the opportunity the market’s presenting and it’s got a new pride and joy that’s waiting to be bought by deep-pocketed buyers with plenty of loose change hanging around.
The Princess S65 exudes style and luxury that’s become the norm for Princess Yachts. Three on deck living areas ensures ample space for the owner and his guests while the sportbridge, the garage, and a wide beam all provide the kind of distinctive design that has become a hallmark for Princess Yachts. I’ve seen my fair share of yachts under this brand and I can attest that almost all of them are head-turners.
But the S65 offers more than just fancy styling. It also has a well-appointed interior that features luxury amenities of the highest order. From spacious staterooms to cockpit bars, the S65 has no shortage of social areas that can accommodate up to eight guests. The sportbridge yacht also prides itself on its expansive entertaining options, ensuring that guests can enjoy their stay without having to worry about being in the high seas for an extended period of time.
If performance is a concern, you shouldn’t worry about it when it comes to the Princess S65. Engine options haven’t been revealed, but the company did say that the yacht is capable of reaching speeds of up to 38 knots.
Other than what’s been shared, there’s still a lot more about the Princess S65 that Princess Yachts isn’t telling us. Fortunately, we won’t have to wait long to learn more about it since a sneak preview of the yacht is set to take place at the Argentex British Motor Yacht Show from May 15 to May 17, 2015.
