2021 Yamaha GP1800R SVHO
All new for 2021, the GP1800R SVHO is the Choice of Champions, representing the #1 race series in the world, and it’s race ready right out of the box.by Sulthoni, on LISTEN 08:20
The impressive racing-inspired GP1800R SVHO goes beyond the definition of extreme thanks to its supercharged, ultra-powerful four-cylinder 1.8-liter SVHO engine. Its lightweight hull and slim design together with cornering precision make this a pure adrenaline machine ready to cut the waves like no other.
As the flagship of the GP family, the GP1800R SVHO is a class-leading model thanks to an array of engineering innovations that make riding it an instant power blast. It also inherits the signature Yamaha features, such as the new lightweight NanoXcel2 hull and deck, and our revolutionary RiDE control system.
Yamaha’s attention to detail goes even further: a race-designed, top-loader intake grate, a ride plate with improved handling, cornering and rough water hook-up, lower center of gravity, new ergonomic seating, and handlebar designs – and all deliver superb control.

1.8 Liter Supercharged SVHO Engine
Yamaha’s four-cylinder, four-stroke, 1822cc, Super Vortex High Output (SVHO) marine engine delivers more power and torque than any WaveRunner in Yamaha’s range. Combined with its new, larger 160mm hyper-flow jet pump and more efficient intake, this engine produces 20% more power than its predecessor.
CUSTOM INTEGRATED GP AUDIO SYSTEM
Optional factory-installed audio system that sounds as good as it looks. Package includes twin, 4½ inch waterproof marine speakers, integrated 2 channel (50 watts per channel) amplifier, easy access control pad and an integrated low-voltage regulator to protect the battery.
New Launch and Cornering Control
Auto Trim works independently from the electric trim control on the handlebars. When engaged, Cornering Control automatically shifts the trim into the bow down position when decelerating for tighter cornering and a racy feel. Launch Control automatically shifts the trim down to prevent bow rise when accelerating quickly.
Competition Steering and Handlebars
The newly designed exposed race-style handlebars not only look fantastic but offer four tilt-adjustable positions to suit every racing, stand-up, and sit-down riding style.
All New Hull and Deck
The new deck design delivers improved ergonomics with deeper, wider, self-draining footwells and a new seat design that improves knee grip and overall comfort. The hull features Yamaha’s cutting-edge deeper V-shape Keel, modified hull strakes, and softer bow chines, delivering excellent stability, nimble handling, and precise responsiveness.
Yamaha’s cutting-edge NanoXcel2 ultra-lightweight hulls and decks are 18% lighter than the original NanoXcel but just as strong. This advanced material compound delivers exceptional performance properties resulting in significant improvements in acceleration, top-end speed, fuel economy, and handling.
Connext® LCD Display

All-new on the GP Series, the Connext LCD display screen features many new features, including Drive Control, allowing you to customize top speed increments and acceleration curve settings. The new built-in PIN security system eliminates the need for an external remote fob. All functions are controlled by a touchpad conveniently located next to the steering column.
New Multi-Mount System
Built for the most tech-savvy of riders, the new multi-mount system allows for the easy attachment of third-party action cameras, speakers, GPS, fish-finder, and phone devices.
Narrow and Deeper Ergonomics
The deck design delivers ergonomics with deeper, wider footwells, and the seat design provides knee grip and overall comfort, especially when charging into tight corners. The new GP1800Rs’ feature self-draining footwells to prevent water pooling, while in storage.
RiDE Dual Control System
Yamaha’s patented RiDE is the world’s first dual throttle handlebar control system, that makes handling easy, fun, and intuitive. Pull the right lever to accelerate and the left lever to decelerate and reverse. Release both levers for neutral. Pull them both, or in any combination, and the system reacts with precise control.
Three Person Sport Seat
The new narrower race-inspired two-piece, two-tone seat is ergonomically designed, textured, and bolstered for grip, speed, and comfort, suitable for recreational riding and racing. The seat comfortably seats three people. Separation of the front and rear sections makes maintenance and access to under-seat storage easy.
Large Rear Platform
Roomy and comfortable, the large rear platform is the ideal place for soaking up the surroundings, getting in and out of the water, or simply doing nothing at all. The decking platform is fitted with custom-cut Hydro-Turf mats for optimum looks, grip, and comfort.
The GP1800R includes twin reboarding handles and an extra-deep ergonomically designed soft-touch reboarding step, making climbing back on board extra easy and safe.
Large Storage Capacity
The new bow, glovebox, and under-seat storage capacity have increased by 15%, providing 107 liters of useable space. The bow compartment is now easier to access and has a dedicated area for Yamaha’s cooler bag. The plastic hinge and damper have also been strengthened for improved long-term durability. The new water-resistant glove box and under-seat storage compartments include larger openings for easier access and improved usability.
The strong tow hook allows the craft to securely tow an inflatable tube, wakeboarder, or skier for additional on-water thrills and spills.
What they say
“The new GP features an all new top deck design with deeper, wider, self-draining footwells. This new top deck gives us much better rider ergonomics and a muscular looking performance inspired look. If you look at the side profile, it has styling cues that look to be a mix of the old GP1300R and the FZ, I absolutely love the look!”
“The acceleration, mid-range pull, and mid-corner throttle of the new GP has been greatly improved thanks to several changes made to the craft’s hookup and cavitation mitigation. For 2021, Yamaha’s engineers have remastered its almost superhuman GP1800R muscle craft by improving on weight distribution, acceleration and cornering.”
- Kevin Shaw, Watercraft Journal
“Overall this PWC is one of the most fun things you can do on the water you pull the throttle and you just have to hang on whether you’re on the closed course or you’re out just racing with your buddies.”
- Craig Kotilinek, Boating Magazine
“2021, the GP Series has a new deck design, tilt-adjustable handlebars and the Connext helm control with the LCD display.”
“The supercharged Yamaha GP1800R® SVHO and normally-aspirated GP1800R HO are the epitome of today’s high-performance racecraft. ”
