The 2021 Jaguar F-Type has just made a very quiet debut with no live stream and no crazy jaguar-like stunts. There are certainly some changes, not only cosmetically, but mechanically as well. We’ll try to keep it brief, but there’s a lot to talk about, so let’s get to it.

2021 Jaguar F-Type Front Design Changes

The front end is a big departure from the current model. Where the old front fascia featured a corner air intakes that were separated by a vertical louver, the 2021 model no has wider intakes and are positioned lower in the fascia. As such, the front splitter is more defined and the small air dam as a sleeker shape to it. The massive grille hasn’t really be redesigned, but it does feel a little bit wider and does feel to sit a little lower, probably because the horizontal louver is missing. The most important change, however, are the new headlights. These aren’t only sleeker and more attractive (they remind me of a blend between the Acura NSX and Audi R8, honestly) but they bring the F-Type into the modern era and give it a more aggressive look at the same time.

2021 Jaguar F-Type Side Design Changes

The side profile hasn’t changed much. The front fenders feel a little more muscular, but that could just be a side effect of the updated front end and new headlights. The rear haunches definitely feel more refined and the taillights still a little higher in the corners than they did before thanks to that new rear fascia.

2021 Jaguar F-Type Rear Design Changes

The rear end ties together the whole body design nicely. The new taillights are clearly inspired by the new Jaguar I-Pace, and they now feature a more defined design with more squared off drops on the bottom. They still don’t run the full width of the rear, but that’s a request we’d like to withdraw after seeing the design of the rear end. The rear fascia is, for the most part the same, despite meeting the rear quarters in a different, and it’s the rear diffuser that gets the most attention. The dual central exhaust outlet has been done away with to make room for the body colored insert and twin-dual exhaust outlets, one in each corner.

2021 Jaguar F-Type Interior Design Changes

Overall, the interior has changed very little, but there are a few little things to point out. Notice how the hood above the instrument cluster is different now? Below that hood sits an all-new 12.3-inch driver information center that is highly customization, but defaults to a large tach in the center. This is, obviously, comparable to what is offered in high-end Mercedes models but actually looks a little more modern and attractive. We’re excited to see what it looks like in real life. In that note, the infotainment system has also been updated. It’s not really larger than before, but it’s not positioned as deep in the center stack. This give sit a more modern feel and makes it a little easier to reach while driving.

2021 Jaguar F-Type Powertrain Update

Things have changed under the hood, but maybe not quite as much as you might think. That Range Rover hybrid system didn’t find its way into the lineup, and neither did BMW’s S63 V-8 – these will probably sit on the sidelines until the next-gen model debuts in 2023 or so. However, that doesn’t mean you walk away from this department empty handed. The entry level models 2.0-liter four-cylinder is good for 295 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque. Meanwhile, the supercharged V-6 carries over with 374 ponies and 379 pound-feet. There’s also a new V-8 that’s good for 443 horsepower and 427 pound-feet, but the big news is the power bump in the Type R, which is now good for 567 horsepower and 516 pound-feet. - and increase of 17 horsepower and 14 pound-feet. Put these numbers together and you’ll get a 60-mph sprint in the range of 5.4-3.6 seconds with top speeds ranging from 155 mph all the way up to 186 mph.
