2022 Abarth 695 Tributo 131 Rally
The hot hatch pays tribute to the Fiat 131 Abarth, but it’s not as cool as the original
by Alina Moore, on LISTEN 03:36The Fiat 131 Abarth was a tiny race car that made history: among many other titles, it also won the Manufacturers’ World Rally Championship three times: in 1977, 1978, and then again in 1980, with Walter Röhrl behind the wheel. In 1976, Fiat built a total of 400 131 Abarth Rally units for road use. Unlike the race versions (237 horsepower), the street version only delivered 138 horsepower, but nobody cared as the 131 Abarth Rally captured the imagination of an entire generation of car enthusiasts.
In order to mark the 40th anniversary of the last Abarth 131 Rally official race, Abarth decided to come up with a 695 Tributo 131 Rally special series limited to only 695 examples worldwide.

What makes the 2022 Abarth 695 Tributo 131 Rally special?
While nowhere near as cool as the original car, the 695 Tributo 131 Rally is a nice attempt to bring back part of the history. It is finished in a new bicolor three-layer "Blue Rally" glossy livery - a reinterpretation of the original color. A very cool contrast is obtained by using Scorpion Black for the roof and uprights. As an extra reminder that this is a tribute car, the silhouette of the original 131 Rally is engraved on the lower part of the car door.
The car will ride on a special set of 17-inch alloy wheels featuring a diamond-cut finish and a black paint.
Just like many other Abarth special editions, the 695 Tributo 131 Rally comes equipped with a special spoiler named "Spoiler ad Assetto Variabile." It can be manually adjusted into 12 positions with the tilt ranging from 0° to 60°. The spoiler not only helps improve cornering stability, but, at a maximum tilt (60°) and a speed of 200 km/h, it increases the aerodynamic load to 93 pounds (42 kg).
The interior will be equipped with Sabelt fabric seats with blue inserts and stitching inspired by those of the historic car, combined with Alcantara for the dashboard. The same silhouette of the original 131 Rally will be engraved on the dashboard and the headrests of the new seats.
Under the hood, the car will feature a 1.4 T-jet engine that delivers a total of 180 horsepower and 183 pound-feet of torque at 3,000 rpm. It can sprint from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 6.7 seconds and will have a top speed of 225 km/h (140 mph).
As final elements, the special edition offers Koni FSD shock absorbers on both axles, and a special braking system featuring aluminum Brembo calipers with four pistons on the front and ventilated discs on the rear. The special “Record Monza Sovrapposto” exhaust system with four vertically overlaid terminals is an evolution of the Record Monza system.
Prices for the 2022 Abarth 695 Tributo 131 Rally will be announced at a later date.
