The Acura NSX offers two distinct, mid-ship mounted powertrains. The first is a lightweight, all-aluminum 3.2 liter, DOHC, 24-valve, 90-degree V-6 engine coupled with a 6-speed, close-ratio manual transmission producing 290 horsepower and 224 lb-ft of torque. The second is a 3.0 liter DOHC, 24-valve V-6 engine with a 4-speed Sequential SportShift automatic transmission that generates 252 horsepower and 210 lb.-ft. of torque.

Both Acura NSX engines are equipped with Acura’s patented VTEC (Variable Valve Timing and Lift Electronic Control), a Variable Volume Induction System, direct ignition and a computerized Programmed Fuel Injection (PGM-FI) system pioneered in Formula One racing. The NSX engine also features titanium connecting rods, which are stronger and lighter than comparable steel connecting rods.

To complement these innovative powertrains, the Acura NSX chassis features an all-aluminum unit body construction that is 40 percent lighter, yet has the rigidity of a steel structure. The 4-wheel independent double-wishbone suspension features aluminum-alloy control arms and hub carriers that minimize unsprung weight and provide optimum handling. The suspension also features aluminum subframes for the front and rear suspension to further reduce weight. Forged-aluminum alloy wheels reduce unsprung weight while super high performance tires - 215/40 R17 in front and 255/40 R17 in the rear - provide maximum traction and handling.

The NSX’s braking system features large-diameter, ventilated four-wheel discs and an advanced 4-channel Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) for confident braking. A sophisticated Traction Control System (TCS) helps limit wheel-spin and enhances control.

The 2005 Acura NSX features a removable roof panel for open-air driving. A sculpted, wedge-shaped body and forward canopy design clearly communicate the car’s high performance personality. Additional features include a body integrated rear spoiler and airfoil, power operated sideview mirrors and Xenon High-Intensity Discharge projector-beam headlights. The NSX comes in seven exterior colors, which can be ordered with a matching or complementary interior color.

Inside, the hand-stitched, leather-trimmed interior of the NSX is designed to evoke the image of a jet fighter cockpit, providing excellent visibility, easy-to-read instrumentation and supportive, power operated seats. For 2005, the NSX receives a redesigned meter panel surround, a new shifter knob and a keyless entry system. As with all Acura models, the NSX comes with a long list of standard equipment and comfort and convenience features including an Automatic Climate Control System, power windows and door locks, cruise control and a theft deterrent system with electronic immobilizer. For 2005, the premium Acura/Bose Music System has been enhanced with a trunk-mounted 6-Disc CD changer.

sorry 168mph for nsx

the price is wayyy too high for the top speed 155 i mean i definitly love the way it looks but the new mazda 3 has a top speed of 155mph.

I can, especially on a Honda engine but it probably won’t. Iam all up for the Japanese coming up with cars that bear the enviroment in mind but I would love to see a factory tuned Japanese car doing 400kmph. And I would love to see a Japanese car with the 0to60 in 2seconds. Iam willing to bet it can do that with 900hp in about the same time as the Veyron.

hmm 900 hp.. cant see it hapeening

  (233) posted on 05.12.2008

yea it would be a crazy amount of hp but it could be a competitor for fastest car in production with that lol.

i’d be a little hesitant to get in one but the idea of it would be amazing

Twin turbos? 0n a 550hp natuarally aspirated car?It will probably pump out 900horses, if not more considering Honda’s reputation for weilding insanely high hps from small displacements. The thought is kinda scary. I’d think twice before getting in car like that.

haha well true i wont be buying one either i say they take it to the top and just blow the competition out of the water with it... hell twin turbo the v-10... now that’d be impressive

  (1022) posted on 05.7.2008

Well said but the sad reality is that the higher price tag makes a car more appealing, and well, you can see how well Ferrari and the other expensive cars do.I read somewhere that it will have a 100 grand plus pricetag.

I think they should make the price tag even higher and make it more exclusive. Hell, I ain’t buyng it, so go ahead, make as money as you can.

  (233) posted on 05.4.2008

yea true that... i’d just like to see it at a semi affordable price... with that v-10 it’ll probably run in the price range around the GTR... the acceleration and handling will probably be inferior to the GTR but the top speed will be beyond it for sure.

that’ll put the competition for ferrari and lambos up a notch... plus it’ll out handle those two for sure

  (1022) posted on 05.4.2008

Yep, but the high pricetag will make this car rather appealing. The latest news say it will have a naturally aspirated 5L V10 delivering 550hp. Thats gonna make Ferrari owners sweat.

  (233) posted on 05.4.2008

no not really. it was just a regular NSX but it was still sick. yea too bad they didn’t put it in many games or movies cuz that might have helped the cars reputation. on the other hand with acura possibly continuing its production in ’09 this car could recieve a little more attention.. hopefully they stick with the v-6 or even better go with an inline-6 and throw a turbo or two on there although i doubt they will

  (1022) posted on 04.26.2008

Did it have the modified car look?

And you are right about the icon bit. With only one model, this car just did not have that much exposure. You will find a GT-R in any decent racing movie and people everywhere know a Skyline.

yea saw it at a sholotskys or however you spell it... i was like damn who drives that good looking car... naturally it was a older guy in 50’s or 60’s who looked kinda nerdy... too bad he probably doesn’t drive the thing the way it should be...

he should’ve given it to me lol

  (1022) posted on 04.23.2008

True and the 290hp isn’t bad considering the car was made so many years ago. It’s about 95hp/liter. I’ve only driven this in games but the handling is amazing.

i saw one of these bad boys the other day. well it was a earlier model...the car may not be as big an icon as the GTR but its still damn good looking.

i’d love to have one. throw a twin turbo in there and that thing would fly

  (233) posted on 04.22.2008

haha good call lol and so true...

  (1022) posted on 04.21.2008

True, true, sometimes I even surprise myself. The best thing about four cylinder cars like the EVO is, if you run against a Ferrari and what not, and if the the other car wins, who cares, it probably has more hp and more cylinders. Thats the way street racers think.

However if the EVO wins, your normal reaction to the other driver would be " you just got your a*s beat by a four cylinder." So either way you win.
And as an added bonus if there are chicks around you gonna get laid!
Although keeping some condoms in your wallet would be advisable.

did AK just complement muscle cars lol... well its a good thing for sure... glad someone else agrees that modified muscle and tuners can out perform a super car... and the super cars may have a higher top speed but where besides Germany will you go 220mph... you can pay that for the look of the car if you want but american muscle and japanese tuners can still look better for a quarter of the price.

and the GTR will outperform any super car. they may have top speed but if you cant keep the speed up or accelerate then how can you expect to win a race
