Offered in NSX Hybrid’s orange hue, the PMC Edition is priced well for the stuff on offer and is limited to less than 400 examples

Acura has introduced the PMC Edition of its best-selling SUV, the RDX. The RDX was introduced back in 2006 as a spiritual successor to the MDX, which went to take bigger roles in the portfolio, quite literally. The RDX debuted as a premium entry-level crossover and is an important product for Acura. Initially, it was built on the same platform that underpinned the Honda Civic and the CR-V, but the third-generation introduced in 2018 as a 2019 model year SUV and was based on a new platform. It has been the best-selling SUV for Acura in the last two years, so, keeping it fresh is imperative.

The company has introduced the PMC Edition of the SUV in Thermal Orange shade that is reminiscent of the NSX Hybrid supercar. And the price? $52,995 including destination charges. Is this a steal deal?

The company had announced the changes to the RDX lineup before this launch, but this RDX will be fully loaded.

It combines the goodies of the RDX Advance Package and the styling cues from the sporty A-Spec.

All the bling has been deleted and a gloss black finish is offered in most places. The biggest difference is the exclusive Thermal Orange Pearl paint on the outside. Up front, the Diamond Pentagon grille is now finished in gloss black with a body-color surround. These limited-edition models will also come with PMC Edition numbered serial plate.

The gloss black finish has been provided on the door handle, outside rearview mirrors, and the roof panel. It comes with a panoramic moonroof as well. The exhaust pipes are finished in dual black chrome. The 20-inch, five-spoke wheels receive the same treatment, too. They are wrapped in 255/40 section high-performance all-season tires. Other stuff like LED headlights and fog lights, rear camera washer, hands-free power tailgate, etc. are also offered.

The 2021 Acura RDX PMC Edition features sport seats with Ebony Milano leather upholstery. It has black suede inserts and contrast orange stitching to give the NSX vibes. The leather-wrapped steering wheel, too, comes with the same stitching pattern and an A-Spec badge. The same is followed on the floormats as well. As for the other cabin and tech features, the PMC Edition will come with:

  • True Touchpad Interface
  • Navigation with Real-Time Traffic
  • 10.5-inch Head-up Display
  • 16-speaker ELS Studio Audio System
  • Surround-view Camera System
  • Rain-sensing Wipers
  • AcuraWatch
  • 16-way Power Front Seats

Safety features like Blind Spot Information System, Rear Cross Traffic Monitor, etc. will also be offered as standard on this edition.

Nothing Different Under The Hood

The special, limited edition RDX is powered by the same 2.0-liter, four-cylinder turbocharged mill that churns out 272 ponies and 280 pound-feet of twist. Although the SUV powers the front wheels as standard and the all-wheel-drive system is optional, here it is standard. Power is sent to all the wheels via the same 10-speed automatic gearbox with paddle shifters. An Adaptive Damper System also comes as standard. As for the fuel economy, the RDX equipped with an all-wheel-drive system delivers 21 mpg in the city, 27 mpg on the highway, and 13 mpg combined. It can even tow up to 1,500 pounds.
