2019 Acura TLX PMC Edition
The Acura TLX PMC Edition is a special-edition version of the premium company’s compact sedan. Unveiled at the 2019 New York Auto Show, not long before the first-generation TLX is set to go out of production, the PMC Edition is more than just a limited-edition car with a few extra features. Unlike previous special-editions from Acura, the TLX PMC Edition is handcrafted in the Performance Manufacturing Center, where the NSX supercar is produced.
Combining the premium interior features of the Advance Package and the sporty exterior elements of the A-Spec line, the TLX PMC Edition stands out among its siblings and climbs at the top of the TLX lineup. Acura Marks 30 Years Since The NSX Prototype Debuted At The Chicago Auto Show
On February 9th, 1989, Acura unveiled what would become the first generation of the NSX, the V-6 mid-engined supercar for people who loved the idea of Ferrari-like performance inside a car that kept all the core user-friendly values of any Honda. Acura was only three years old when the world first saw the clean, elegant, and sporty silhouette of the red prototype uncovered under the lights of the Drake Hotel in Chicago. The prototype was shorter and narrower than the final production version, but the media was alight right away, and praise came almost immediately. Honda kept the NSX in production until 2005 when the NA2 version that still retained many of the original styling cues was retired. Nowadays, we’re enjoying a radically different sports car from Honda that bears the name NSX so it’s interesting to go back and look at the car that started the myth.

2018 Acura RDX A-Spec by Graham Rahal Performance
Redesigned for the 2019 model year, the Acura RDX looks sportier than ever and boasts enough luxury features and state-of-the-art tech to give the German competition a run for its money. Unfortunately, it’s only marginally more powerful than its predecessor, even in the new, sportier A-Spec trim. This is where the Graham Rahal Performance update comes in, adding some extra grunt for the 2018 SEMA Show.
Founded in 2017 by race-winning Honda IndyCar driver Graham Rahal, Graham Rahal Performance (GRP), which owns an Acura dealership, decided to meddle with compact luxury crossover. In an effort to add style, power, and performance to the RDX, GRP customized the SUV’s exterior and interior and upgraded the 2.0-liter turbocharged engine. The end result is the most powerful third-generation RDX ever created, but it’s only for display purposes. At least for the time being.
2019 Acura NSX
The iconic Acura NSX made a comeback in 2016, after a 11-year absence from the market. Powered by a hybrid drivetrain for the first time, the second-generation NSX just got better for the 2019 model year thanks to a comprehensive mid-cycle refresh.
Already a potent sports car, the Acura NSX now rides on a revised chassis that’s supposed to enhance agility on the road and track. Acura also made some design changes, but these are rather small and limited mostly to new color options. 2019 Acura RDX
Now that Acura has effectively moved on by the design slump it was once in; the brand has begun to blur the line between luxury and performance. The new RDX is a prime example of that, taking cues from the 2017 Acura Precision Concept and the Acura NSX. As the latest addition to Acura’s revamped model portfolio, the RDX takes on a striking new look, has more than enough power to take on the BMW X3 and Audi Q5, and is luxurious enough to make you wonder why you’re not paying more for a vehicle of this caliber. Acura Swings For The Fences With 2019 RDX – New Look, New Tech, Extra SUV
The 2018 Detroit Auto Show is now officially hitting its stride, and amid a flurry of high-riding utility vehicle debuts, Acura is joining the fray with its brand-new third-generation RDX compact luxury SUV. The Japanese automaker is calling it the “most extensive Acura redesign in more than a decade,” unveiling the five-passenger in “prototype” form, even though this thing looks pretty much good to go in terms of production status. Overall, the updates cater to American buyers in a big way, adding in extra inches for the size, as well as new technology like a True Touchpad Interface, and new styling to boot. What Can We Expect From The Third-Generation Acura RDX?
The Acura RDX burst onto the scene in 2006, taking the reigns from the MDX as the brand’s entry-level crossover. 11 years and two generations later, the RDX is still a presence in its segment. The third-generation model is scheduled to make its debut at the 108 North American International Auto Show, and it’s entering a more competitive segment that now includes high-value offerings from the likes of Jaguar, Infiniti, and Volvo. The third-gen RDX needs to step up its game to compete in this segment, so ahead of its unveiling, we’ve pieced together a few of our expectations for one of Acura’s most important models.
2017 Acura NSX "Dream Project By ScienceofSpeed
The second-gen Acura NSX is an amazing, mid-engined supercar that serves as a fine predecessor to the original. But, no matter how good a company makes its prized halo car, it can always be made better. And, that’s exactly what ScienceofSpeed has done for the second-gen NSX. There aren’t any serious engine upgrades to speak of (no, they didn’t throw on bigger turbos and upgrade the electric motors) but there are some minor upgrades to increase horsepower and torque a bit. The body isn’t neglected either, with a new aero kit and some fresh paint in place to fresh things up in the sun. Finally, the interior gets the orgasmic treatment as well, including things like new seats and updated custom upholstery.
Sounds pretty nice, right? Well, it’s not often that you find such a prominent aftermarket touch on a car like the NSX. After all, it’s only been on the market for a little over a year, and it took a long time for the name to be resurrected. So, what does this custom NSX have going for it? 2017 - 2018 Acura MDX
Around since the 2001 model year, the Acura MDX is a very hot commodity and has been a huge success, proving to be one of the best-selling three-row luxury crossovers of all time, and has historically sat below the Lexus RX as the best-selling luxury crossover. It’s been through two generational shifts with the third-gen model making its debut for the 2015 model year and was facelifted just a couple of years later, to bring about the new diamond pentagon grille, LED headlamps, LED taillights, and an updated AcuraWatch safety system that includes automatic collision braking, lane departure warning, and adaptive cruise control, all as standard equipment. Its exterior style to cues from the Acura Precision Concept and the Acura NSX, the latter of which also inspired the drivetrain found in the hybrid model.
The MDX has had pretty steady sales since the third-gen model was introduced, with 2014 accounting for 65,603 units sold, 2015 accounting for 58,208 units, and 2016 accounting for 55,495 units. Those are U.S. numbers only, and this is a global model so you can imagine the global sales are significantly higher. As we move into 2018, Acura continues to set the pace as a leader in the segment by bringing about an updated infotainment system, some new exterior colors, and a new pricing point that is a bit higher than it was for 2017, but not by much and well worth it considering what you get from a luxury brand like Acura. Acura Takes Aim at the Chinese Market by Showing Off a Prototype of the TLX-L at Shanghai
The Acura TLX fights for dominance in a tough segment with models like the BMW 3 Series, Alfa Romeo Giulia, and Mercedes C-Class, among others. It’s a war-torn battlefield where models must be updated frequently to keep up, and things are always changing. As such, Acura has stayed on top of its game with the TLX, and just a few years after being introduced, it has gone through a facelift that brought about a new look to the front and rear, including the new Precision grille, lots of LED lights, and some updated technology inside to help it stay relevant. The updated TLX debuted at the New York Auto show, and just days later, Acura pulled the sheet off of another TLX – this time in prototype form with a longer wheelbase.
Obviously, Acura is trying to judge public interest in a LWB TLX in the one market that glorifies long vehicles with excessive room in the rear. It’s a status symbol, really, and the TLX in longer form should be more than sufficient for the wealthy Chinese businessman who would rather be driven. Acura hasn’t said much about this prototype and has only released a couple of images. The exterior is identical to the model we saw here in the U.S., with the exception of it having an extra-long roof, kick panels, and rear door. How much longer is it? Well, Acura didn’t say, but judging its length by the pictures provided, I’m guessing it’s somewhere around 4.5-inches longer. That should boost rear legroom up to around 38.5-inches, up from 34.5-inches in the standard model. There’s no word on any interior changes outside of the potential for extra legroom, but I suspect Acura would cater to the Chinese market well and offer plenty of rear-seat amenities like reclining seats, leg rests, rear infotainment, etc…

Acura TLX A-Spec Proves You Don’t need an M or AMG Badge to Look Good
Acura debuted an updated TLX in New York today that featured a new precision grille, updated fascias, a new hood, and an updated infotainment system. The Technology and Advanced packages also bring even more value with new features. But, alongside that updated TLX, sits an all-new trim and it’s TLX you really want to pay attention to. It doesn’t offer any engine upgrades, but it comes standard with the 24-valve, 3.5-liter, V-6 that delivers 290 horsepower at 6,800 rpm and 267 pound-feet of torque at 4,500 rpm. It’s not the power delivery that sets the A-Spec apart from the bunch, though. See, the A-Spec can be had in two-wheel drive or with Acura’s SH-AWD system, and it gets its unique look – a look that will make you think twice about considering something with an M or AMG badge on it.
To start things off, the new A-Spec gets an updated front fascia that combines the TLX’s new look with deeply recessed corner vents and a sporty air dam up front. The corner vents, air dam, and that new precision grille are outlined with a gloss-black trim insert that helps assert a strikingly aggressive look that stands out in this segment. Round fog lights tie things together for the front, but as you move to the side, there’s even more. The fender gets its own unique A-spec badge, while the side view mirrors get gloss black arms. Down below, the A-spec has updated and mildly aggressive side skirts. The trim around the windows on the A-spec are also finished in gloss black. The real conversation piece here, however, are the dark-finish, 19-inch wheels that are exclusive to this model only and are wrapped in 245-series rubber.
Around back, a black spoiler graces the rear deck lid, while a new diffuser-like element in gloss-black adds a bit of aggression to the rear. Large, exhaust outlets can be found on each corner, with a slight angle toward the outer corners. There’s some modification under the metal and inside too, so keep reading to learn more about that.
Acura Snarls at Germany with a Viciously Redesigned TLX
The TLX isn’t even out of the toddler stages yet, but it’s already asserting its dominance in a segment that contains models like the Audi A4, BMW 3 Series, Mercedes C-Class, and even models like the Jaguar XE and Alfa Romeo Giulia. With a segment full of heavy hitters, you have to stay fresh and alert, and when the doors opened at the 2018 New York Auto Show, it’s clear that Acura is doing just that with the TLX. The new front fascia provides distinctive lines with a fresh look down below. The corner inserts get new LED fog lights and chrome surrounding trim. This is the icing on the cake, however, as the new precision grille stands out indefinitely in comparison to the current model. It’s wider, taller, and outlined in a healthy dose of chrome. Tying the whole front end together is a new hood with muscular lines and a pair of updated Jewel Eye headlights.
The side profile gets a new chrome insert along the side skirts while the rear end gets a restyled fascia with a diffuser-like element at the bottom, two rectangular exhaust outlets, and a pair of chrome inserts that match those on the front fascia. These updates definitely make the car more attractive, but also give the TLX a significant advantage over the competition. But, there’s more. All V-6 models can now be equipped with SH-AWD while the Technology Package now offers those chrome side sill garnishing, new seats with contrast piping and stitching, and a thigh extension on the driver’s seat. The Advance Package adds trapezoidal fog lights, surround view camera, wireless charging page, ambient lighting, heated steering wheel and rear outboard seats, rear spoiler, and folding side mirrors.

2018 Acura TLX
The Acura TLX hit showrooms for the 2015 model year as a replacement for the TL and TSX sedans. After just a couple of years on the market, Acura commissioned a facelifted for 2018 that will keep the first generation alive until at least 2021. The big news here is that the TLX is getting a new pentagonal grille that not only replaces the beak found on most Acura vehicles but is also similar to the grille found on the Precision concept and the updated MDX crossover. That new grille will be accented by new headlight units and a new fascia. Inside, the 2018 TLX changes very little with this facelift but does have Acura’s updated dual-screen interface that’s said to be 30-percent faster and has more intuitive menus. Drivetrain options carry over unchanged, with the base model making use of a 206-horsepower four-cylinder and the TLX V6 getting the same 290-horsepower V-6 mill. Pricing for the updated TLX starts out at $33,000 and climbs to as much as $45,750 for the range-topping TLX 3.5 SH-AWD with the Advance Package.
So, as you can see, the term “facelift” is perfect for this model as the updates are focused primarily on the exterior design. And, while there isn’t any major improvement to the interior and absolutely zero improvements to the mechanical bits and pieces under the hood, it’s still a fitting update after just a few short years on the market. With competition like the Infiniti Q50, Cadillac ATS, BMW 3 Series, and the Mercedes C-Class, the Acura TLX has its work cut out. Will the new looks be enough to keep the TLX relevant?
