2019 Acura TLX PMC Edition
The Acura TLX PMC Edition is a special-edition version of the premium company’s compact sedan. Unveiled at the 2019 New York Auto Show, not long before the first-generation TLX is set to go out of production, the PMC Edition is more than just a limited-edition car with a few extra features. Unlike previous special-editions from Acura, the TLX PMC Edition is handcrafted in the Performance Manufacturing Center, where the NSX supercar is produced.
Combining the premium interior features of the Advance Package and the sporty exterior elements of the A-Spec line, the TLX PMC Edition stands out among its siblings and climbs at the top of the TLX lineup. The first vehicle to be part of the PMC Edition line, the TLX will soon be followed by an MDX crossover with similar features. Let’s find out what makes the PMC Edition stand out.
2018 New York International Auto Show - Worst In Show

2019 Acura RDX
Now that Acura has effectively moved on by the design slump it was once in; the brand has begun to blur the line between luxury and performance. The new RDX is a prime example of that, taking cues from the 2017 Acura Precision Concept and the Acura NSX. As the latest addition to Acura’s revamped model portfolio, the RDX takes on a striking new look, has more than enough power to take on the BMW X3 and Audi Q5, and is luxurious enough to make you wonder why you’re not paying more for a vehicle of this caliber. That’s where that blurred line comes in, and that’s why you need to keep reading to learn more about the model that will make BMW and Audi fanboys reconsider what brand they represent.
Acura MDX A-Spec Looks Sportier, Lacks the Extra Power
Redesigned in 2013, the Acura MDX received a comprehensive facelift in 2016 that changed its appearance quite dramatically. Come 2018, and the premium brand is trying to keep the SUV fresh with a new, sportier variant called A-Spec. Part of a series of new trim levels that also includes the ILX and TLX, the MDX A-Spec just made its official debut at the 2018 New York Auto Show.

If you thought the new Acura RLX looked good, you’re going to fall out of your seat when you see Acura’s Precision Crafted design language plastered all over the new RDX. It’s got that Diamond Pentagon Grille,
inspired Jewel-Eye headlights, and one of the sharpest design styles we’ve seen this decade. Acura designed it to stand out in the segment and stand out it does while keeping things more efficient than ever thanks to a new chassis architecture, and an all-new four-cylinder with damn near the same horsepower and more torque than the outgoing V-6 mill. Add to that the longer wheelbase, extra cargo room, and a completely revamps AWD system and you’ve got what could become the most desired compact SUV on the market.
Acura Will Uppercut BMW and Audi with the Fifth-Gen Acura RDX and RDX A-Spec at the New York Auto Show
Now that SUVs reign supreme and account for a huge chunk of sales, automakers are pushing them harder than a drug dealer pushes crack on the street. And, that’s exactly why Acura’s next big move after updating the RLX is to breath new life into the RDX nameplate. Moving into its third generation, the new RDX will be the first Acura SUV to adorn the A-Spec badge and styling and will be graced with an all-new 2.0-liter, turbocharged, VTEC, and an efficient 10-speed automatic transmission. Acura’s even going all out by bring in an Integrated Dynamics System with some NSX DNA and to make things even better, this baby was conceived, styled, and built right here in the great U.S.A.
2017 - 2018 Acura MDX
Around since the 2001 model year, the Acura MDX is a very hot commodity and has been a huge success, proving to be one of the best-selling three-row luxury crossovers of all time, and has historically sat below the Lexus RX as the best-selling luxury crossover. It’s been through two generational shifts with the third-gen model making its debut for the 2015 model year and was facelifted just a couple of years later, to bring about the new diamond pentagon grille, LED headlamps, LED taillights, and an updated AcuraWatch safety system that includes automatic collision braking, lane departure warning, and adaptive cruise control, all as standard equipment. Its exterior style to cues from the Acura Precision Concept and the Acura NSX, the latter of which also inspired the drivetrain found in the hybrid model.
The MDX has had pretty steady sales since the third-gen model was introduced, with 2014 accounting for 65,603 units sold, 2015 accounting for 58,208 units, and 2016 accounting for 55,495 units. Those are U.S. numbers only, and this is a global model so you can imagine the global sales are significantly higher. As we move into 2018, Acura continues to set the pace as a leader in the segment by bringing about an updated infotainment system, some new exterior colors, and a new pricing point that is a bit higher than it was for 2017, but not by much and well worth it considering what you get from a luxury brand like Acura. Acura TLX A-Spec Proves You Don’t need an M or AMG Badge to Look Good
Acura debuted an updated TLX in New York today that featured a new precision grille, updated fascias, a new hood, and an updated infotainment system. The Technology and Advanced packages also bring even more value with new features. But, alongside that updated TLX, sits an all-new trim and it’s TLX you really want to pay attention to. It doesn’t offer any engine upgrades, but it comes standard with the 24-valve, 3.5-liter, V-6 that delivers 290 horsepower at 6,800 rpm and 267 pound-feet of torque at 4,500 rpm. It’s not the power delivery that sets the A-Spec apart from the bunch, though. See, the A-Spec can be had in two-wheel drive or with Acura’s SH-AWD system, and it gets its unique look – a look that will make you think twice about considering something with an M or AMG badge on it.
To start things off, the new A-Spec gets an updated front fascia that combines the TLX’s new look with deeply recessed corner vents and a sporty air dam up front. The corner vents, air dam, and that new precision grille are outlined with a gloss-black trim insert that helps assert a strikingly aggressive look that stands out in this segment. Round fog lights tie things together for the front, but as you move to the side, there’s even more. The fender gets its own unique A-spec badge, while the side view mirrors get gloss black arms. Down below, the A-spec has updated and mildly aggressive side skirts. The trim around the windows on the A-spec are also finished in gloss black. The real conversation piece here, however, are the dark-finish, 19-inch wheels that are exclusive to this model only and are wrapped in 245-series rubber.
Around back, a black spoiler graces the rear deck lid, while a new diffuser-like element in gloss-black adds a bit of aggression to the rear. Large, exhaust outlets can be found on each corner, with a slight angle toward the outer corners. There’s some modification under the metal and inside too, so keep reading to learn more about that.
Acura Snarls at Germany with a Viciously Redesigned TLX
The TLX isn’t even out of the toddler stages yet, but it’s already asserting its dominance in a segment that contains models like the Audi A4, BMW 3 Series, Mercedes C-Class, and even models like the Jaguar XE and Alfa Romeo Giulia. With a segment full of heavy hitters, you have to stay fresh and alert, and when the doors opened at the 2018 New York Auto Show, it’s clear that Acura is doing just that with the TLX. The new front fascia provides distinctive lines with a fresh look down below. The corner inserts get new LED fog lights and chrome surrounding trim. This is the icing on the cake, however, as the new precision grille stands out indefinitely in comparison to the current model. It’s wider, taller, and outlined in a healthy dose of chrome. Tying the whole front end together is a new hood with muscular lines and a pair of updated Jewel Eye headlights.
The side profile gets a new chrome insert along the side skirts while the rear end gets a restyled fascia with a diffuser-like element at the bottom, two rectangular exhaust outlets, and a pair of chrome inserts that match those on the front fascia. These updates definitely make the car more attractive, but also give the TLX a significant advantage over the competition. But, there’s more. All V-6 models can now be equipped with SH-AWD while the Technology Package now offers those chrome side sill garnishing, new seats with contrast piping and stitching, and a thigh extension on the driver’s seat. The Advance Package adds trapezoidal fog lights, surround view camera, wireless charging page, ambient lighting, heated steering wheel and rear outboard seats, rear spoiler, and folding side mirrors.

2018 Acura TLX
The Acura TLX hit showrooms for the 2015 model year as a replacement for the TL and TSX sedans. After just a couple of years on the market, Acura commissioned a facelifted for 2018 that will keep the first generation alive until at least 2021. The big news here is that the TLX is getting a new pentagonal grille that not only replaces the beak found on most Acura vehicles but is also similar to the grille found on the Precision concept and the updated MDX crossover. That new grille will be accented by new headlight units and a new fascia. Inside, the 2018 TLX changes very little with this facelift but does have Acura’s updated dual-screen interface that’s said to be 30-percent faster and has more intuitive menus. Drivetrain options carry over unchanged, with the base model making use of a 206-horsepower four-cylinder and the TLX V6 getting the same 290-horsepower V-6 mill. Pricing for the updated TLX starts out at $33,000 and climbs to as much as $45,750 for the range-topping TLX 3.5 SH-AWD with the Advance Package.
So, as you can see, the term “facelift” is perfect for this model as the updates are focused primarily on the exterior design. And, while there isn’t any major improvement to the interior and absolutely zero improvements to the mechanical bits and pieces under the hood, it’s still a fitting update after just a few short years on the market. With competition like the Infiniti Q50, Cadillac ATS, BMW 3 Series, and the Mercedes C-Class, the Acura TLX has its work cut out. Will the new looks be enough to keep the TLX relevant? Let’s take a good look and find out.
2017 Acura NSX GT3 Race Car
The Acura NSX went on sale just a month ago, on February 25th, 2016, with the launch of its online configurator. With that being the case, it’s pretty easy to assume that we’ve heard the last news about the NSX for a while, but then Acura decides to throw us a curve ball. It showed up at the New York Auto Show with a GT3 variant of the new Acura NSX. Along with the debut of this new model comes Acura’s intent to homologate the model as an FIA GT3 class race car this fall.
As you probably know, this isn’t Acura’s first rodeo, as it has ran campaigns in the 1991 through1993 IMSA Camel Lights championships, the 2009 American LeMans championships – in LMP1 and LMP2 classes – and is currently running a couple of TLX GT cars with Real Time Racing in the Pirelli World Challenge. Should the NSX GT3 pass its current testing with flying colors, it will partake in GT3 racing later this year.
The NSX GT3 was initially developed by Acura’s Japanese race engineering team and has already tested on various circuits in Europe and Japan. The car is now undergoing testing in Santa Clarita, California, under Honda Performance Development – Acura’s North American race engineering group. Art St. Cyr, the president of HPD, said, “The NSX was designed as a pinnacle expression of Acura Precision Crafted Performance, and we’re looking forward to proving out its ultimate performance capabilities in GT3 racing.” He continued, “We’ll be working with the NSX engineering teams in Ohio and Japan to bring our dream of a truly world-class new Acura NSX race car to fruition.”
Given the overall acceptance and fan base of the new Acura NSX, it’s no surprise Acura is so quick to jump on the GT3 wagon. While the NSX GT3 shares a lot of commonalities with the road-going NSX, it also features its own unique differences that make it ready to take on the GT3 class. With that said, let’s take a look at the new NSX GT3 and what it will bring to the race track later this year.

2016 New York International Auto Show – Best In Show
I’ll just come out and say it – being the follow-up act to the 2016 Geneva International Motor Show is not an enviable position (check out some of our coverage here to see what I’m talking about). Nevertheless, the New York International Auto Show (NYIAS) pulled it off, providing us with plenty of fresh metal worthy of our collective attention and desire. From muscle-bound track monsters, to European refinement, to Japanese tech, there really was a little bit of everything in the Big Apple this year. But the question is this – which models stood out as the best of the bunch?
The criteria for clinching a spot on this list is loose, but I’ll try to distill it down for you. A Best In Show winner has to stir emotion. It has to excel, both as a piece of design and a technical showcase. Significance in a historical context is a big plus. And of course, there’s the speed – big power, crazy specs, prowess in the twisties… you know, the good stuff.
The following five cars have all that and more, and if you love fast machinery, odds are you’ll find something to love in this list.

The Acura TLX is a new model in Acura’s lineup that debuted at the New York Auto Show in 2014. It was a replacement for the Acura TL and TSX sedans and boasted the option of a 2.4-liter four-cylinder with 209 horsepower or a 3.5-liter V-6 that was upgraded for 2016 to produce 290 horsepower. Improving performance even further was the option of Acura’s SH-AWD system for upper trim level models. The TLX didn’t see any other improvements for 2016, but it already sported a front and rear end similar to that of the Honda Accord, including the Jewel-eye LED headlights.
The TLX was first presented in concept form – dubbed the TLX Prototype – at the 2014 Detroit Auto show and, as you already know, it was only a few months later that the production model showed up. In short, it was a move by Acura to jumpstart its position in the Performance Luxury Sedan market because the TS and TSX just weren’t cutting the mustard and couldn’t gain traction in the market. At the end of the day, Acura did pretty well with the TLX, and it should be up for a facelift by 2018. Until then, let’s take a look at the 2015 to 2016 Acura TLX and everything that it brought to the table from Honda’s performance brand.
Updated 09/23/2015: Acura announced prices for the 2016 TLX, which will go on sale on September 24. Prices will range from $31,695 for the base TLX with eight-speed dual-clutch transmission and up to $44,800 for the 3.5L SH-AWD TLX with Advance Package.

About a year after the introduction of the 2015 Acura TLX GT racecar, Acura got its first win in the Pirelli World Challenge series, and the luxury automaker has equally lofty expectations for its newest racecar set to commence competition in the National Auto Sport Association (NASA) series. Introduced at the New York Auto Show, the Acura ILX Endurance Racer is based on the updated 2016 Acura ILX, and it has all of the racing goodies needed to compete in one of the top semi-pro racing series in the U.S.
Acura has its sights set on winning at NASA’s flagship race, the 25 Hours of Thunderhill. This race is run at the three-mile Thunderhill Raceway Park in California, and it is the longest endurance race in America.

As we all know, the Acura MDX model that we saw in Detroit was only a prototype that gave prospective buyers "a strong indication of the styling and design direction for the third generation." Well, now that the 2013 New York Auto Show is upon us, the 2014 MDX has officially been unveiled in full-production form.
In all honesty, the prototype and the production models are very similar, but Acura basically just toned down the extreme stuff. Things like the LED bars on the front and rear bumpers are nixed. Additionally, Acura gave the front skirt a more traditional look; as opposed to the futuristic treatment it received in the prototype. From the side, the prototype and the production models are nearly indistinguishable, as they both carry almost the identical profile and the rims are identical.
One thing that we’re sure every Acura fan has been waiting for is the revealing of the new model’s interior. And Acura delivered the goods today.
Updated 02/03/2015: Acura announced prices and details for the 2016 MDX, a model that comes with multiple new features and technologies, a more advanced powertrain and an expanded model range. The model is now available at Acura dealerships at a starting price of $42,865.
