2021 Ares Design S1

2021 Ares Design S1

This is the hottest Corvette-based supercar ever design, but will it go into production?

The Ares Design S1 is an upcoming supercar built by Ares Design, the company led by former Lotus CEO Dany Bahar. The exotic-looking S1 is based on the C8-generation Chevrolet Corvette, borrowing the chassis, engine, gearbox, and electronic underpinnings from the American mid-engined sports car. Powered by a reworked, naturally aspirated V-8, the S1 packs 705 horsepower, some 200 horses more than the Corvette C8. Is the S1 just a beefed-up Corvette or a brand-new vehicle with Chevy underpinnings? Let’s find out in the review below.

The carbon-fiber muscle car is rising to fame

We had just stopped drooling over SpeedKore’s Hellraiser when Classic Recreations came in smashing through the door with the carbon fiber-bodied 1967 Shelby GT500CR Mustang.

The build was announced in September 2020 as an extremely limited run of just 25 units and we are glad to report that it is finally here. With a little help from SpeedKore, that is.

Bless your C8 Vette with that Bosozoku vibe

Widebody kits look good on virtually any car. Whether it’s a drift-spec Toyota Supra or a humble Daihatsu Copen, everything can be tricked out to please the eye with a neatly-designed, flared-out body kit. Including the mid-engined Chevy C8 Corvette, as Pandem was kind enough to demonstrate.

2021 Ford Mustang R67 by Aviar Motors

2021 Ford Mustang R67 by Aviar Motors

The classic Mustang appearance paired to a Tesla twist

Ford is yet to gift the Mustang with an all-electric powertrain. Of course, we now have the Ford Mustang Mach E electric SUV but indisputably, that’s not even close to what the Mustang stands for. There’s also the Mustang Cobra Jet 1400, but that’s hardy a road-legal vehicle.

That said, Aviar Motors set up to do what Ford won’t for the time being. In the process, the Russian EV start-up found time to bake in a 1960s twist into its all-electric Mustang, which instantly doubles the (silent) muscle car’s cool factor. Here’s all you need to know about the Aviar R67.

This beautiful machine has it all

Some might say that building, buying, and hooning a Safari 911 is a blasphemy. We digress. Porsche has such a solid connection with the world of rally racing (including Dakar and Monte Carlo back in the day) that a Safari-style Neunelfer feels as natural as breathing.

And while a lot of entities have been performing this sort of conversions on vintage 911s, we didn’t expect one such contraption to come from suspension specialist H&R. But it did, and it’s awesome.

2020 Porsche Taycan Turbo S by Prior Design

We hope to see this on the street ASAP

EVs don’t get a lot of attention from tuners and for good reasons. Few electric cars on the market can claim and back up dynamic driving and there’s no point in dressing up a Nissan Leaf in a Liberty Walk widebody kit, is there?

Now, Tesla’s cars are capable of delivering high levels of performance and we’ve seen some kits tailored to imbue aerodynamics and whatnot. But then the Porsche Taycan came, and we were wondering when will someone find a way to make it wider and meaner.

1967 Shelby GT500CR Carbon Fiber By Classic Recreations and SpeedKore

This is the first carbon-fiber-bodied Shelby Mustang ever made

Remember the Shelby GT500CR 900S? Silly question, of course you do. The 770-horsepower (also supercharged) muscle car concocted by Classic Recreations is not the kind of car that leaves your retina that easily and to further reinforce that statement, it just got a new all-carbon-fiber-everything attire.

2020 Audi RS Q8 by ABT Sportsline

The beast just got beastlier with more power, more torque, and a shorter sprint time

The Audi RS Q8, without any doubt whatsoever, is a downright technological marvel. What Audi managed to extract from this hunchback SUV in terms of performance and practicality is worthy of all praise.

The RS Q8 packs a 4.0-liter V-8, two-axle steering, 10-piston brake calipers that bite into ceramic rotors, optional 23-inch wheels, and a mean electromechanical active roll stabilization system that makes the 5,103-pound mammoth drive like it’s on rails. Most of us couldn’t simply ask more from the souped-up SUV. Most of us, however, aren’t ABT Sportsline.

The Audi RS 6 Avant Drinks From the ABT Performance Well, Gains 99 Horsepower

Audi’s RS-badged models, especially of the Avant ilk (read wagon), have mesmerized petrolheads ever since the RS2 came in 1992, which was in equal measures an Audi and a Porsche. The engine was Porsche, just like the tweaked gearbox, brakes, and wheels.

Fast-forward to 2020 and the RS-badged lineup has extended to include the RS 4, RS 7, and even the RS Q8 SUV.

BMW M850i by Manhart Racing

Do you want a slice of stealth and aggression with your BMW M850i?

If rumors are to be believed, the BMW 8 Series Coupé is not long for this world. The good news, though, is that the impending demise is still a few years away. That should give us enough time to enjoy a model like the BMW M850i M Performance. Turns out, we’re not the only ones that have adopted a similar approach. Manhart Racing has been having some fun with the performance 8er, enough at least to create an arresting new tuning program that covers a lot of ground in the M850i. From exterior upgrades to engine enhancements, the German tuner has been a busy bee in the lab, though all that hard work appears to be time well-spent. This BMW M850i means business, and you wouldn’t want to be in its crosshairs.

The Lister LFP is a 200-MPH F-Pace Itching to be the Fastest SUV in the World

Faster than the Lamborghini Urus

Recently revived British company Lister revealed an all-new car - the Lister LFP. It’s a heavily tuned Jaguar F-Pace, crafted to be “the fastest SUV in the world.”

This isn’t the first time that Lister prepared a tuned Jag. In fact, only a month or so ago, the company gave us a car dubbed the LFT-666, a 666-horsepower F-Type with numerous pieces differentiating it from the stock F-Type cars. Obviously, Lister crafted a comprehensive tuning program for the F-Pace as well. After all, one cannot craft the fastest SUV in the world without making a lot of improvements.
