The Alfa Romeo Spider Duetto Has Made a Hybridized Comeback - Kind of
Garage Italia is a Milan-based company placed at the crossroads of the fashion, design, and automotive industries. You might remember them because of some cool previous designs like the 2016 Alfa Romeo 4C Spider or the old Fiat 500 Jolly. The company’s latest creation is once again based on an older Alfa Romeo model, and it made its debut at the Milan Fashion Week.
If you don’t know the Alfa Romeo Duetto for what it is - a very cool Italian convertible - you most likely know it for being the star in the movie "The Graduate." Garage Italia’s model borrows the aesthetics and the mechanics from a 1992 Duetto – the last generation - but also inlcudes a mild hybrid system.
Here’s What To Expect From Alfa Romeo’s 5-Year Onslaught of New Cars
It seems Alfa Romeo is one of those brands that refuse to step away from traditions and move on with the times. Over the last decade or so, the Italian company has come up with some great models, but their business strategy hasn’t been what you would call sustainable. However, this may be about to change, as the Italian car company recently stated that we will be getting a new model every year until 2026, and from 2027 onwards, all models of the brand will be electrified.
Alfa Romeo might bring back the GTV and Duetto
Despite its glorious motorsport history, Alfa Romeo has kind of been on and off the bench in terms of market presence. In recent years, they’ve actually had a good run. They brought out the Alfa Romeo 4C, which was a great competitor to the likes of Lotus Elise and Porsche 718, and the Alfa Romeo Giulia and Stelvio have managed to liven up the car market a bit. Both of these models are said to be nearing the end of their production cycle, but two new models could fill in the void.
Do you remember the Alfa Duetto Dustin Hoffman used in the "The Graduate" movie in 1967? It was a model produced between 1966 and 1967 and it was offered in an attractive "Spider" body. For all of you, who wish to see that classy back on the roads, Alfa Romeo has a good news. They plan to bring the Duetto back.
