As one of the biggest auto shows of the year, the Geneva Motor Show is one of those shows that is expected to attract a huge audience.

Understandably so, a lot of automakers are getting ready to put their best foot forward. For Italian automaker Alfa Romeo, the Geneva Motor Show is the perfect opportunity to introduce their new subcompact model, the 2011MY MiTo.

While it’s not exactly a completely different model, the 2011MY MiTo is nonetheless a refreshed version of the vehicle that promises to have a number of enhancements over its soon-to-be-predecessor, the current edition MiTo.

After its stop in Geneva, the new MiTo is expected to hit dealerships in Europe later this year where it promises to come with new options and technologies that will "enhance comfort and driving feel" for the new model.

Expect the Alfa Romeo MiTo to make its presence felt at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show with a couple of special ready to take center stage.

From the outside, the 2011 MiTo comes with a refreshed exterior look, including modified Quadrifoglio Verde logos with chrome mirror housings, headlight frames, taillights frames, new door handles, and a set of 18” wheels. The model that’s expected to be launched at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show will be dressed in a “Bronze Metal” exterior color with a Technosilk two-tone interior upholstery.

For the 2011 MiTo’s interior, customers will get an extra slew of goodies that include Sabelt sports seats that have been wrapped in Alcantara-fabric with a black color scheme and white-green seams that you can also find in the steering wheel, hand brake lever, and the gear shifter knob. Consequently, the seats also come with their own carbon fiber backrests.

A number of engine options are expected to come with the 2011 MiTo, not the least of which include one with a 1.4-liter MultiAir Turbo engine that produces 135 horsepower mated to the company’s own TCT transmission and fitted with Start&Stop systems. Another MiTo Quadroglio Verde comes with a 1.4-liter MultiAir Turbo engine that produces around 170 horsepower mated to a TCT transmission also with its own Star&Stop system.

No word yet on how much the 2011 MiTo is going to be cost, but you can definitely expect it to be around the range of what the old MiTo models sold for, which means that it could be somewhere north of $25,000.

Two key rivals of the Alfa Romeo MiTo are the MINI Cooper and the Audi A1.

In terms of engine performance, the Italian Alfa offers more choices than the German MINI, which comes with a 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 121 horsepower. On top of engine variety, it should also be pointed out that the MiTo’s high-end options come with a more powerful engine than the Cooper. If you want a more powerful Cooper that can bring the pressure on the higher-spec MiTo, you can opt for the Cooper S, which comes with the same 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine that’s been ramped up with a turbocharger, culminating with an output of 181 horsepower.

Then, there’s the new Audi A1, which if you think about it, is the one car that can go blow-for-blow with the MiTo. Just like the Alfa, the A1 comes with a multitude of engine options, ranging from TFSI gas engines that produce between 86 and 122 horsepower, all of which are mated to a seven-speed S tronic transmission.

    • Not a lot of aesthetic upgrades
    • Engine could be more powerful
    • Other choices are also good

Kirby’s first exposure into the world of automobiles happened when he caught Knight Rider on television as a five-year old boy. David Hasselhoff didn’t leave much of an impression on him (that happened later on in Baywatch), but KITT certainly did. To this day, Kirby remains convinced that he will one day own a car with the same ‘spirit’ as the original KITT (not the 2008 monstrosity). He doesn't know when that will be, but until then, he’s committed to expressing his love for KITT, and all cars for that matter, here at TopSpeed.  Read full bio

This is very refreshing to see. The bumper still nice and in full capacity. The looks in exterior is overwhelming.

I think this one is good but not so impressive. For me, it lacks some interior features, and I am not satisfied with its engine.

I barely see cars having that color, if I see one, it seems that it looks so boring with them but with this MiTo, I can say that it looks so awesome with that color.

Yeah! I have to agree with that. Its rival would still be stood out for me rather with this MiTo vehicle. Well, I also noticed that it doesn’t as well have an impressive interior unlike with the other vehicle.

MiTo is not a sports car right? I really wonder if why it had a very boring interior for the fact that it is not a sports vehicle. However, I must say that its exterior detailing is already quite striking.

If I’m going to have my own MiTo, I would love it in a white body paint. smiley it looks so decent and hygienic! However, I don’t think that its interior can offer a comfortable and relaxing inside.

Mini Cooper and Audi will still be stood out for me. Sure, Mito is also a good looking car, but it can’t offer an impressive or comfortable interior neither a nice speed performance.

The front of this MiTo is really looking so awesome on it, and its color body paint option is truly great on it, but I’m too disappointed on its interior. It seems so boring on that.

I have to agree to you guys, that Mito is absolutely looks so classy and luxuriant either on its glossy body paint, but sorry to say, I am not so fond with its interior.

Mito is already striking and very awesome on its aesthetic design and styling. I also noticed that its sleek body paint, says that this one, is a luxury compact car and I think the engine on it, is quite good enough for this car.

This compact car is definitely looks so cute and classy on its sleek body paint and aesthetic design, but I’m too disappointed on its interior. It didn’t look so impressive as well as its exterior.

This new subcompact of Alfa Romeo was really striking on its cute appearance and outlook, but I hope that they use other colors on its body that would surely meet or suited on its looks and I also noticed that the interior of it seems to bore.

The compact and overall package of the car, definitely an ideal car. Prior to every components of the car, from exterior, interior and performance guess all been the finest.

MiTo looks so cute on its platform, and I barely see cars having that color, if I see one, it seems that it looks so boring with them but with this MiTo, I can say that it looks so awesome with that color.

I’m waiting for this car ever since I first saw this kind of car. I’m dying to have this one soon. For me this is the coolest car to have and to keep.

  (320) posted on 08.11.2011

I like the name of the car. Mito, very unique. Well, this new car of Alfa Romeo looks like the mini Cooper. The car looks so refreshing and very classy. I can’t wait to see this in the upcoming Geneva Motor Show. It will surely attract viewers out there.

It looks like the same body style as the Fiat 500

  (595) posted on 07.27.2011

Of course, you will absolutely see the signature. Why is it called a signature if it will be
omitted on their car? By the way, it has a very refreshing effect on me, and the name is appealing. It makes me think about Mito in Slamdunk.

  (938) posted on 03.15.2011

I like the fact that the front end actually has that signature Alfa Romeo look on it. Makes it look very elegant, even though it’s just a hatch.

I think Mito is too small for the road of U.S. So why they are selling small car on US anyway like Fiat? But American still want it. Are they going to released a version on Japan?
