The Giulia and Stelvio represent two of Alfa Romeo’s most prominent models. The automaker also happens to sell both models here in the U.S. That made it easy for Alfa Romeo to bring a pair of special edition models to the 2018 New York Auto Show, dressing up its sedan and SUV in black trim, slapping “Nero Edizione” badges on both of them, and then offering them as special edition models. And so, here they are, the Alfa Romeo Giulia Nero Edizione and the Alfa Romeo Stelvio Nero Edizione.

What makes the Alfa Romeo Giulia And Stelvio Nero Edizione Package special

I suppose asking what makes these two special edition Alfa Romeos special is a rhetorical question, right? On the surface, both the Giulia and Stelvio Nero Ediziones are special edition models, in large part because they’re the recipients of a number of aesthetic updates to help make them look more exclusive.

Take for example the front grille on both models. It’s been restyled in a shade that Alfa Romeo calls “Dark Miron.” It also happens to be the same color that you can see on the mirror caps and the exterior badges. Notice anything striking about all of them? Yep, they’re all finished in black, which is exactly what Dark Miron is.

Adding to the all-black theme are trim surrounds on the headlight bezels and gloss black pieces surrounding the windows. Fix your gaze at the wheels of these two SE models, and you’ll see that the automaker’s badges on the wheel caps are also dressed in black. You’ll also notice that the wheels are finished in Dark Miron, though they do come in different sizes. That’s one of the few features that’s unique on both models. The Guilia Nero Edizione sits on a set of 19-inch wheels while the Stelvio Nero Edizione rides on a set of 20-inch wheels. Other unique features include a Dark Miron appliqué on the rear fascia of the SUV, as well as gloss black roof rails.

The Italian automaker is also throwing in a set of dark exhaust tips as part of the special edition package for both models. They’re not available yet, but they’re going to join the party soon enough.

Oddly enough, there aren’t any interior upgrades either model. The good news is that you can still customize this section of both models. Alfa Romeo has a number of packages that can help accomplish that goal, including an 8.8-inch widescreen display and the automaker’s DNA drive mode selector, among others.

As far as the engines go, there aren’t any changes in that department either. Both the Alfa Romeo Giulia and the Alfa Romeo Stelvio are powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that produces 280 horsepower, enough juice to allow the Giulia to sprint from 0 to 60 mph in 5.0 seconds and 5.5 seconds for the Stelvio.

There’s no word yet on how much each of these two special edition Alfas will cost, but they are expected to be available soon. That much we can count on from a company that reported a 2,232-percent boost in sales in the U.S. in 2017 compared to its numbers the year before. Care to guess which two models were responsible for that massive surge in sales? Give yourselves a pat on the back if you guessed the Giulia and the Stelvio.
