Alfa Romeo Will Follow the Tonale PHEV with a Compact Electric SUV in 2022
A lot of rejigging is expected to happen in Alfa Romeo’s lineup moving forward. The company is focusing and restructuring its portfolio to get back into the spotlight. The Italian brand has said that it plans to have just four models in the near future. Three of those include the Giulia, the Stelvio, the newly-launched Tonale PHEV, and a product that is yet to be announced. There isn’t a lot known about this mysterious fourth product, but Autocar reports that it will be the smallest SUV in the lineup and also the brand’s first EV.
Say Goodbye to the Little Guy as Alfa Romeo Discontinues the Giulietta
Just like any other car out there, the Alfa Romeo Giulietta had its flaws. It had strong selling points, too, like its appealing looks and crisp dynamic abilities. Those, however, were not enough to keep sales figures from sinking under the pressure of its very potent compact rivals and that of crossovers, too.
Speaking of crossovers, their rise to power is the reason behind Alfa Romeo’s decision to axe the Giulietta. As a replacement, the Italians won’t launch a new hatchback and will instead put their hopes of a profit in a high-riding vehicle we know as the Alfa Romeo Tonale.
Wallpaper of the Day: 2016 Alfa Romeo 4C Spider
Now that FCA has finally killed off the Alfa Romeo 4C Spider, it has managed to find its way back into our hearts again. Okay, maybe not, but at the same time, we’re still kind of sad to see it go. We can’t help but wonder if it would have met the same fate had Alfa Romeo actually had the money and desire to even so much as give the 4C a mild facelift or any type of update at al throughout its entire lifespan. It just doesn’t seem like the proper end to a model that reintroduced Alfa Romeo to the U.S. market, now does it?
Of course, with the 4C delivering just 237 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque and no funds available to make any type of improvement, the 4C became largely obsolete and too expensive (for its capability) to even compete on the market anymore. So, with the 4C officially at the end of its life, we thought what a better way to send it off than to let it live on in our rotation of daily wallpapers. We’ve picked out our favorite and posted it below, but you can slide on down the page to find a rather large gallery with any 4C wallpaper you could ever want or desire.
Alfa Romeo Stelvio Flexes its Way to More Lap Records
The Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio is no stranger to breaking lap records, smashing the production SUV record at the Nurburgring back in 2017. Another SUV — the Mercedes-AMG GLC 63 S 4MATIC — has since usurped that crown from the Stelvio, but the Alfa SUV isn’t done adding lap records to its name. The go-faster version of the Alfa SUV recently set lap records at Silverstone, Donington Park, and the Indy Circuit at Brands Hatch, further separating itself as one of the fastest and most powerful models in its segment. It has stiff competition, sure, but don’t let that take the shine away from the Stelvio Quadrifoglio and what it has accomplished since it burst onto the scene back in 2016.
I Configured the 2019 Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio NRing Edition and Saved 9 Grand
Alfa Romeo is celebrating its incredible Nurburgring heritage with the all-new 2019 Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio NRing Edition. Creating a car that pays homage to the most fantastic track in the world isn’t anything new in the car world, but Alfa Romeo probably has more reasons for it than anyone else. Not only did it win the 1935 Grand Prix at the ’Ring in front of the Third Reich officers, but the racing cars based on the 1960’s Giulia sedan, and its numerous versions dominated the Nurburgring track winning 12 times in the ’60s. Thanks to such incredible results, Alfa Romeo revealed the 2019 Giulia Qaudrifoglio NRing Edition - an extremely limited version of the Giulia Quadrifoglio available in the U.S. and Canada.
With subtle and somewhat lackluster additions, the NRing Edition manages to capture the magic of the most famous racetrack in the world in an effort to create an Alfa Romeo myth for the upcoming generations. This is how you make a brand.
2020 Alfa Romeo Stelvio Nring Edition
Named after two of the most extraordinary stretches of paved surface, the Stelvio QV NRing may present the only vehicle named after a mountain pass and a race track. One would expect to see the incredible supercar hidden behind this name, but the Stelvio QV is an SUV. A mad one at that, and even madder as the super-exclusive NRing Edition. Revealed alongside the aesthetically stunning Giulia QV NRing Edition, the Alfa Romeo Stelvio shares its unique ability to evoke Alfa Romeo Nurburgring achievements not many can match. However strange it may sound, the Alfa Romeo was cool at the Nurburgring before anyone could be cool there. This SUV celebrates that achievement.
The Alfa Romeo Giulietta Refuses to Die as Alfa Introduces Updates for the 2020 Model Year
Introduced in 2010, the Alfa Romeo Giulietta is very long in the tooth as of 2019, but this isn’t stopping the Italian firm from keeping the hatchback in production with mild upgrades. Following a small facelift in 2016, the Giulietta shows off a new update at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show. Unfortunately, it’s far from impressive.
Alfa Romeo Tonale concept previews Jeep Renegade-based SUV with hybrid power
Alfa Romeo is about to launch its second SUV and gave us a preview of things to come at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show. The company’s upcoming crossover is called the Tonale and its smaller than the Stelvio. Likely based on the Jeep Renegade, the Tonale fits in the compact market and looks surprisingly sporty. The Tonale is also Alfa Romeo’s first plug-in hybrid.
Mole Costruzione Artigianale Almas oozes Italian style. It leaves a little tricolored puddle wherever it sits. It’s currently just a design study by Mole, the company that you may remember from its custom Alfa Romeo 4C project called Alfa Romeo Mole Costruzione Artigianale 001.
Unlike that Alfa Romeo 4C-based project, though, the Mole Almas isn’t built on another car’s underpinnings - it’s bespoke GT car with its own platform and this has given designers the freedom to make it look even more extreme. Its exterior design and styling certainly, the work of Umberto Palermo and Paolo Scudieri, make it stand out and the result is quintessentially Italian and very sculptural - it very successfully borrows design elements from classic Alfa Romeo and Maserati models, but everything is neatly integrated and the result is very visually cohesive.
Both its chassis and body are made from carbon fiber in order to keep weight down. We don’t know how much it weighs, or any technical facts for that matter, but we may learn more after it debuts at the 2019 Geneva motor show.
If you are a true car enthusiast, you need to own an Alfa Romeo at least once in your lifetime. Driving the Stelvio Quadrifoglio really proves that the Alfa Romeo experience is still there. But, most importantly, the Stelvio feels special, and that really sets it apart from everything else. We spent a few days with the Stelvio and could not get enough, and that was just driving around town. If there was a race track around, we probably would not stop until there was no fuel or tires left. The Stelvio, at least in the Quadrifloglio configuration, is just a beautifully crafted machine that begs to be driven.
2020 Alfa Romeo 4C Spider Italia is a final attempt from Alfa to stay relevant
Alfa Romeo showed up at the Chicago Auto Show with the 4C Spider Italia Edition. It’s the same 4C Alfa’s been selling in the U.S. for almost half a decade already, but the novelty is you can now have it in this nice Misano Blue Metallic paint job if you pay $5,000 more on top of the $1,595 destination tax.
The Alfa Romeo 4C was the second car Alfa Romeo brought Stateside after selling almost 100 of its wonderful 8C sports car in both coupe and roadster guise. The 4C is a much more compact version but, in true Alfa tradition, it looks really well and it drives well too. The issue is that the Italians haven’t really been all that interested in trying to refresh the car and, now, the 4C is a pretty but overpriced car that desperately needs a replacement worth of sharing the garage with the Stelvio Quadrifoglio and the Giulia Quadrifoglio.
1993 Alfa Romeo RZ by Zagato
The Alfa Romeo RZ is the equally-boxy and equally odd open-top version of the icon that is the SZ. Controversial at the time, the Zagato styling of the SZ/RZ family is now, 30 years on, considered downright legendary.
Produced as a limited-run joint project between Alfa Romeo and Fiat, the SZ Coupe and the RZ Roadster were laid on the underpinnings of the famed Alfa Romeo 75. Little over 1,000 SZs were built while the production cycle of the RZ began just after the final SZ was put together. Although the exact number varies depending on the source, no more than 285 Alfa Romeo RZ cars were ever built, making it much rarer than the already sought-after coupe.
The RZ was equipped with the same four-cam engine as the SZ although the lack of a solid roof makes the RZ the slower of the two. Alfa Romeo also chose to offer the SZ in more than one color combination, customers being offered the opportunity to pick their SZ up in either yellow or black, besides the customary red which was the only color available for the coupe. The last SZ rolled out of Zagato’s plant in Terrazzano di Rho in 1994 and, in spite of their popularity among the fans of the brand, the SZ and RZ aren’t particularly expensive to grab nowadays.

Alfa Romeo Aims to Take on the BMW X1, Audi Q3, and Mercedes GLA-Class with Baby SUV
Spurred by the popularity of the Stelvio SUV, Alfa Romeo is planning to build not one, but two new SUVs. One of these two models is a smaller SUV that will compete against the likes of the BMW X1, Audi Q3, Mercedes GLA-Class, Range Rover Evoque, and Volvo XC40. Among other things, the baby SUV will be launched with hybrid tech and Level 3 autonomous driving technology.
2018 Alfa Romeo 4C Centurion 007 – The Green Arrow by Pogea Racing
Ok, first things first. What is Pogea Racing? Well, if you did not know, check out some of Pogea’s previous work. As you can see, these guys are going all over the place with tuning.
The first Audi TT? Pogea can do it!
The 1959 Chevrolet Corvette? Sure!
The Audi A7? Of course!
Yet, regardless of such a wide array of tuning projects, it seems that they do their best work on stuff from Italy. As a chip tuning company from Germany, Pogea Racing started its operations in 1997 and, while I may list their best works for ages, I will actually focus on their latest projects - both of them based around the Alfa Romeo 4C. First one, named the Nemesis, appeared only months ago, but today, we have the chance to see the greenest Alfa Romeo 4C ever. It too got a name - the Centurion 007 – The Green Arrow.
As I am talking names, I have to point out that Pogea is quite creative when it comes to names. That Corvette I mentioned, they’ve called it the Big Red.
Prepare to Say Goodbye to the Alfa Romeo 4C Coupe
You think pretty looks are enough to keep a model alive? Ask Alfa Romeo that, and you’ll get a loud, resounding ’No’! Fiat Chrysler Automobiles CEO, Sergio Marchionne, has confirmed to Autocar that the Alfa Romeo 4C Coupé’s future in the U.S. is in question; however, the 4C Spider will continue to live on. Now, was this because of Alfa Romeo’s stubbornness to not give customers what they want, or was it just an under-par car?
The Alfa Romeo 4C Spider came in 2016 to pair the nimbleness and spunkiness of the 4C Coupe with the benefit of unlimited headroom. Of course, it didn’t come with its flaws, which included a weight gain of some 130 pounds thanks to structure changes required to keep the car structurally sound. It got its own look around back and even came complete with an elevated, carbon fiber roll bar behind the seats. It’s powered by a 1.75-liter four-cylinder that’s good for 240 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque – enough to get it to 60 mph in less than five seconds on the way to a top speed of 130 mph. Those are the fastest figures in the world, but they are fast enough for a car this size. Either way, it’s a sexy little beast, and we find it as the perfect addition to our Wallpaper of the Day Collection. 2018 Alfa Romeo Giulia And Stelvio Nero Edizione Package
The Giulia and Stelvio represent two of Alfa Romeo’s most prominent models. The automaker also happens to sell both models here in the U.S. That made it easy for Alfa Romeo to bring a pair of special edition models to the 2018 New York Auto Show, dressing up its sedan and SUV in black trim, slapping “Nero Edizione” badges on both of them, and then offering them as special edition models. And so, here they are, the Alfa Romeo Giulia Nero Edizione and the Alfa Romeo Stelvio Nero Edizione.
Alfa Romeo Giulia And Stelvio Get Edgy With Nero Edizione Package
We’ve seen plenty of automakers offer up fresh new special editions through the application of various dark-colored aesthetic touches, and now Alfa Romeo is getting in on the action with a new Nero Edizione Package for its Giulia sports sedan and Stelvio SUV.
