The Alfa Romeo Giulia GTA is the most extreme Giulia the company has ever created, and it will be a somewhat rare offering with only 500 examples built in total, spread between the GTA and GTAm. Alfa has now released pricing for the GTA and GTAm, and let’s just say that you better be willing to put up the house as collateral.
2020 Alfa Romeo Giulia GTA
Alfa Romeo isn’t the first brand you think of when it comes to lightweight performance sedans. But the Italian automaker is looking to flip that narrative with the arrival of the Giulia Quadrifoglio GTA.
Lighter, faster, and more powerful than any version of the Giulia Quadrifoglio, the Giulia GTA — it stands for Gran Turismo Alleggerita or “Grand Touring Lightened” — represents a complete makeover of the Giulia sedan.
Significant changes can be seen in the exterior, interior, and drivetrain departments, so much so that you’d be excused for thinking that Alfa Romeo has lost its marbles and has decided to dive in the deep end of the performance sedan pool. Not that we’re complaining; the Alfa Romeo Giulia GTA has the vibe of a king slayer. It certainly looks like one.
Going Extreme: The Alfa Romeo Giulia GTA and GTAm
Following a couple of decades in disgrace, Alfa Romeo started to bounce back toward better days with cars like the 4C and Giulia Quadrifoglio. Now, the Italian carmaker takes yet another step toward the high-performance realm with the Giulia GTA and Giulia GTAm, two limited-edition sedans that pay tribute to iconic cars from the 1960s. Unveiled at the 2020 Geneva Motor Show, both are lighter and more powerful than the Giulia Quadrifoglio, while the GTAm is a road-legal race car with only two seats, lightweight door panels, and room for helmets and racing suits.

As much as we would have liked to see the likes of Dodge Durango SRT and Maserati Levante Trofeo join in on this drag race, we’ll have to settle for FCA’s other two high-performance SUVs. Which is not that bad, considering that what you’e about to see is a straight-line skirmish between the Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk and the Alfa Romeo Stelvio QV.
Reports Indicate That a 600+ Horsepower Alfa Romeo Giulia GTA is in the Works, Rumors Quickly Denied
A new rumor has surfaced that Alfa Romeo is looking to celebrate its 110th anniversary by introducing a new, limited trim level of the Giulia – namely the Giulia GTA. Reports hint that it will be a track-inspired, road-going beast with as much as 620 horsepower and a considerable increase in torque output compared to the 443 pound-feet delivered by the standard, Ferrari-derived 2.9-liter V-6 in the Giulia Guadrifoglio. It was even said that this model would debut in June of 2020. Unfortunately, this latest rumor doesn’t seem to hold water.

“An Alfa Romeo SUV?” asked the older man parked beside me. “What does it cost to get into an Alfa Romeo SUV?”
“The base price is around $40,000,” I replied.
The man whistled, an automatic response to the stratospheric sum he’d clearly been imagining. Then he paused as the true figure sank in. He looked at his Toyota RAV4, a similarly sized crossover that approaches $40,000 with all the options. Then he looked again at this 2019 Alfa Romeo Stelvio. “That’s actually not bad.”

2019 Alfa Romeo Stelvio Ti Euro Spec
The Alfa Romeo Stelvio has already been around for a while, and the Italian automaker will introduce a new, posh, trim line at the 89th Geneva Auto Show called the Ti. It stands for ’Turismo Internazionale,’ and it’s a nod to Alfa’s storied past. This variant will be equipped with the meatier of the two 2.0-liter, turbocharged, inline-four engines, new burnished taillights, and new wheels to round things out.
This piece of news may already seem confusing to those of you that are familiar with Alfa’s American range of models. That’s because over in the U.S., Alfa is already offering the Stelvio Ti for the 2019 model year. In fact, you can choose between the $44,495 Stelvio Ti, the $46.995 Stelvio Ti Lusso, and the $47,295 Stelvio Ti Sport. All of these come with the 2.0-liter, turbocharged, inline-four engine too. However, there will be differences between the European-spec model and the U.S.-spec ones.
A 600-Horsepower, Topless Alfa Romeo Could Be In The Works
Alfa Romeo’s plan to flood the market with 26 new and updated models is well-documented. We also know that at least two of those models will be the scintillating 8C supercar and the
based GTV Coupe. Now it looks like a third performance model is in the works, specifically a convertible version of the aforementioned 600-horsepower GTV Coupe that will be released more than a year after the coupe version drops and takes all our money away.

Alfa Romeo’s plan to bring the back the 8C nameplate has come with a lot of speculation about its presentation. The prevalent buzz surrounding the model is that it’s going to be a supercar of some sort. As it turns out, though, it could be more than just a supercar. The new Alfa Romeo 8C could be an 800-horsepower hybrid monster, debunking previous rumors that said that it would “only” have 700 horsepower on tap.

Rumors about Alfa Romeo planning to make a two-door coupe version of the Giulia surfaced the web as soon as the sporty sedan hit the market. It took the Italian firm about two years to confirm that a coupe is indeed underway, but not everything is as we expected. To be more specific, Alfa Romeo will use a coupe to revive the GTV nameplate.
Not only that, but it will be offered as a Quadrifoglio that will be more powerful than the Giulia Quadrifoglio sedan. To top things off, it will have a mild hybrid drivetrain and an all-wheel-drive system with torque vectoring. The coupe will most likely arrive in 2020 when the Giulia sedan should have already received its mid-cycle facelift. 2022 Alfa Romeo 8C
The Alfa Romeo 8c is returning after an eight-year absence, and it’s going to look and perform a lot differently than its limited-run predecessor. Early plans inside Alfa Romeo indicate that the new 8C is being packaged as a 700-horsepower supercar that will be able to compete against the likes of Ferrari, Porsche, and Lamborghini. There’s no timetable yet on when the new 8C will arrive, but it should make its way into our lives before 2022, at least if it ends up happening.

The 2018 Stelvio Quadrifoglio Will Set You Back $81,590 with Destination Fees
The wait for the official price of the Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio is over. The Italian automaker has announced pricing details for the performance SUV, and it’s not cheap. If you want one, you’re going to have to pay at least $79,995 to go home with what Alfa describes as the “world’s fastest SUV.” Throw in the destination fee of $1,595 and the total cost shoots up to $81,590. And, if you’re looking for options, well, at that point, your mileage and the subsequent price of the SUV will vary.

Kimi Raikkonen is a robot. Kimi Raikkonen has the emotional capacity of a cardboard cut-out of himself. Kimi Raikkonen cracks a smile about as often as a total solar eclipse. We’ve all read and heard about the stone-faced demeanor of the Ferrari F1 driver and former world champion. This is the same guy, after all, who once famously said on national television that he was dropping a deuce during a tribute for F1 legend Michael Schumacher. Yet for all of his “Iceman” moments, Raikkonen is also regarded as one of the best race car drivers in the world today, and together with teammate and four-time champion Sebastian Vettel and Antonio Giovinazzi, Ferrari’s third F1 driver, the Iceman put those skills to the test for a day in the track onboard the Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio.
The following video here is what happens when you get Raikkonen, Vettel, and Giovinazzi to race the wheels of the 505-horsepower Giulia Quadrifoglio. You get lots of smoke, plenty of sideways action, and an actual smile creep in to the face of the Finn. For what it’s worth, it’s hard to tell what’s more shocking between seeing the Giulia Quadrifoglio perform the way it did on the track with three F1 drivers driving it or the fact that Raikkonen seems to be having a ball of a time in the car. My money’s on the latter since the sight of a smiling Raikkonen is worthy enough to actually steal some of the spotlight away from the car he’s driving. Either way though, it’s good to see the three Ferrari racers enjoy themselves with Alfa’s new performance sedan. Heck, if the Giulia Quarifoglio actually made Kimi smile, that’s vindication of the sedan’s prowess in it of itself already.
What’s The Best Upscale Performance Sedan You Can Get For Less Than $50K?
The sport sedan – talk about a hotly contested segment. Almost every major automaker out there has one, but as you might expect, not all are created equal. And that’s where we come in, armed with a boatload of facts and figures to help rank the various entries from best to worst. Of course, more attentive TopSpeed readers out there are sure to point out that this is a topic we’ve covered before, most recently in a comparison piece looking at the Audi A4, BMW 3 Series, Chrysler 300, Infiniti Q50, Jaguar XE, and Mercedes-Benz C-Class. 2016 Alfa Romeo Giulia QV Carabinieri
The supercar market has been booming for a while now, so it wasn’t really surprising when we started seeing supercars turned into cop cars. It’s happened a number of times over the years, giving wealthy police departments access to cars like the Maserati GranCabrio Politie and nearly the entire lineup from Lamborghini, with the most recent being the Lamborghini Huracán LP610-4 Polizia (that sure didn’t take long, either.) The point I’m trying to make here is that there are plenty of performance cars rocking police livery. As it turns out, the list of performance-based police cars has just gotten a little longer with the Alfa Romeo Giulia QV being the newest model to make the conversion.
Surprisingly, however, the QV Carabinieri isn’t going to be used as a traditional cop car. According to the recent press release from Alfa Romeo, a total of two models have been converted and will be primarily used to transport things like organs or blood during medical emergencies. Outside of that, its duty will be to serve as an escort car during different police ceremonies. Even with that being the case, the Giulia Carabinieri will still be decked out with all the latest and greatest police gear.
That said, it may not be chasing around criminals anytime soon, but it will have the gear to do the job if need be. So, let’s go ahead and take a closer look at the Giulia QV Carabinieri and what went into making the conversion.
