This is the Aston DBS Superleggera Concorde Edition. It’s limited to just 10 units and it pays tribute to the 50th anniversary of the iconic Concorde’s first flight and the centenary of British Airways, one of the Concorde’s two operators. The DBS Superleggera Concorde isn’t your typical special edition Aston Martin, either. The automaker’s personalization division, Q by Aston Martin, was heavily involved in the development of the DBS Superleggera, right down to all the exclusive exterior and interior details that make the DBS Superleggera Concorde a special edition among special edition models. All 10 units of the DBS Superleggera Concorde will be sold through Aston Martin Bristol, which commissioned its creation. Pricing details have yet to be revealed, but if you’re looking to score one of the 10 available units, you’ll need to reach out to the dealership and express your interest. All 10 units will likely sell out as fast as it takes the Concorde to take flight.

Aston Martin DBS Superleggera Concorde Performance

Let’s get this out of the way: the Aston Martin DBS Superleggera Concorde does not come with any engine upgrades. You would think that a supercar that pays tribute to one of the fastest passenger airliners in history would be treated to a power and performance boost. But that’s not the case. Boo, right?

Not exactly.

It still stands as Aston Martin’s fastest and most powerful road-going car, and it can sprint from 0 to 62 mph in just 3.4 seconds and 0 to 100 mph in just 6.4 seconds. Top speed is capped at a cool 211 mph.

The first thing that’ll greet you is the blue upholstery. Normally, you’d chalk this up to Q by Aston Martin’s endless interior leather options. But this is different. Q by Aston Martin specifically chose this color to mimic the cabin design of British Airways. It also incorporated the Concorde logo on the front seat facings, firmly establishing the identity of this special edition DBS Superleggera.

Over on the driver’s side sun visor is a Mach Meter graphic. For those who are unfamiliar with the Mach Meter, it is an aircraft pitot-static system flight instrument that shows the ratio of the true airspeed relative to the speed of sound, or what’s commonly called the Mach number. For what it’s worth, the Concorde had a maximum speed of 2,179 km/h, or 1,353.97 mph. That’s over twice the speed of sound, or Mach 2.04, as shown in a Mach Meter. Unfortunately, the Aston Martin DBS Superleggera doesn’t travel that fast so the best Q by Aston Martin could do was to add the Mach Meter graphic on the driver’s side sun visor.

The DBS Superleggera’s Alcantara headliner is another section of the interior that’s worth paying attention to. It comes with a “sonic boom” graphic, which you’ll recognize as something that resembles a cone made of vapor. It’s a unique graphic, for sure. Speaking of unique, the paddle shifters behind the DBS Superleggera Concorde’s steering wheel is made from titanium taken from the Concorde’s compressor blades. How Aston Martin came in possession of this material is something that’s probably best not asked. The seatbelt buckle badges are milled from solid aluminum and the bespoke sill plaques add to the Concorde’s impressive number of special edition identifiers.

Last but certainly not least is a treat for those who love unique floor mats. You know that the DBS Superleggera Concorde’s interior is special when the floor mats are special, too. These mats come with a Terence Conran design pattern, named after the English designer who’s credited with making stylish housewares and home decor.

Creating a look that pays proper tribute to an iconic aircraft like the Concorde is especially tricky given the need to showcase specific details that identify with the aircraft. Visually, the bespoke British Airways livery that adorning the roof strake, aero wing, and rear diffuser creates a nice color contrast to the white paint finish of the supercar’s body. The black-tinted carbon fiber roof adds another layer of contrast, and if you’re tall enough to actually see the roof, you’ll see the Concorde’s silhouette proudly displayed in the center of the fixture, inside a circular design that I can only assume is Q by Aston Martin’s interpretation of a sonic boom. Whatever it is, the setup looks incredible. It pays proper tribute to the Concorde and British Airways in ways that don’t scream for attention. It’s classy and colorful at the same time.

The exclusive exterior nods don’t end there, too. Up front you’ll see Aston Martin’s badge wrapped in the British Airways Speedmarque logo. This is another subtle but effective nod to one of two exclusive airlines that operated the Concorde before it was retired in 2003. Interestingly, the other airline that operated the Concorde — Air France — is not identified in the Aston Martin DBS Superleggera Concorde. Perhaps that was a home-town decision made by the British automaker?

In any case, the special edition supercar also comes with authentic aircraft numbers from the Civil Aviation Authority and inspection plaques that bear the signatures of Aston Martin CEO Andy Palmer and British Airways Chairman Álex Cruz. The Aston Martin DBS Superleggera Concorde’s exterior isn’t lacking in character, and it certainly doesn’t come short in establishing the relationship between the Concorde, British Airways, and in the case of this super limited supercar, Aston Martin. As cheeky as that looks, Q by Aston Martin managed to combine all these unique elements naturally. Only the best in-house car personalization divisions can pull that off. It just so happens that Q by Aston Martin can lay claim to that title.

Aston Martin DBS Superleggera Concorde Pricing and Availability

The Aston Martin DBS Superleggera was commissioned by the Aston Martin Bristol dealership. Only 10 units were made, making it the most exclusive among the three DBS Superleggera special edition models that have been made. The DBS Superleggera 59, which was presented in 2018 as a tribute to the 60th anniversary of Aston Martin’s double victory at the 1959 24 Hours of Le Mans, was limited to 24 units while the DBS Superleggera OHMSS Special edition, which was unveiled earlier this year to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the James Bond film, On Her Majesty’s Secret Service, was capped at 50 units. Aston Martin hasn’t announced the price of DBS Superleggera Concorde, but given its status as a super-exclusive special edition, expect each of the 10 units to cost more than the standard DBS Superleggera’s price of £225,000, or around $290,300 based on current exchange rates. Unless there's a plot twist in the allocation of the 10 units of the DBS Superleggera Concorde, expect the special edition model to be an exclusive release in the local U.K. market.
