Other than Bentley’s Mulliner division, Aston Martin’s Q by Aston Martin bespoke division is arguably one of the best custom arms among all the luxury car brands in the business. Q by Aston has been responsible for some of the most provocative special edition Aston Martins in recent memory, and now that the brand’s first-ever SUV is on the market, Q by Aston is flexing its muscles yet again. The Aston Martin DBX by Qmarries all the qualities of what a special edition Aston Martin should look like. It’s dripping in the kind of bespoke goodness that Q by Aston stakes its name on. The Aston Martin DBX by Q by Aston Martin makes its world debut at the 2020 Geneva Motor Show.
1963 Aston Martin DB5 Convertible
Aston Martin’s DB5 is the epitome of British elegance and class and with multiple appearances in the James Bond franchise, has been heralded over the years as one of the world’s most famous cars. While maybe not all passersby will be able to tell you what it is when looking at the DB5, mostly everyone knows that shape. The fact that there was also an open-top version may not, however, be common knowledge but, with or without a roof, the DB5 is a show-stopper any day of the week.
Powered by 4.0-liter version of Tadek Marek’s DOHC inline-six, the DB5 was an evolutionary step than a revolutionary one when compared to the DB4 it replaced. In fact, the styling was nigh on identical to that of a Series 5 DB4 and it was the increase in the engine’s capacity that stood out as key differentiator between the two models. But a deal to supply Sean Connery’s Bond with a Silver Birch DB5 in the movie ’Goldfinger’ changed everything for David Brown’s company.
The model became a success with over 1,000 units sold in just two years and movie stars fawned over the gorgeous lines penned by Touring. Actors Peter Sellers and Beryl Reid were just some who owned DB5s in the ’60s and even Princess Margaret rolled in one for a while. Indeed, you probably needed the funds usually linked to an heir of the crown given that the DB5 Convertible cost as much as a house at the time but can you really put a price on driving a car Bond pedalled on-screen?
2020 Aston Martin DBX
The 2020 Aston Martin DBX is a midsize SUV that the British company unveiled in 2019. The first SUV to wear an Aston Martin badge, the DBX rides on an exclusive platform, but shares powertrain elements with the company’s sports cars. Powered by the same 4.0-liter V-8 found in the DB11 and the Vantage, the DBX boasts 542 horsepower, which turns it into a competitor for the Bentley Bentayga and the Lamborghini Urus. Likewise, the DBX sports a luxurious interior and is available with a wide range of options. 2020 Aston Martin Rapide E
The Aston Martin Rapide E is an all-electric version of the British company’s four-door sedan. Previewed by a concept called the Rapide E in 2016, the production model made its debut three years later at the 2019 Shanghai Auto Show. The Rapide E ditches the familiar 6.0-liter V-12 engine in favor of a battery pack and a pair of electric motors, but it generates notably more power than its gasoline sibling. The Rapide E is also the company’s first electric vehicle.
Finally ready for production after several years of development, the Rapide E brings together the craftsmanship and exclusivity of the Rapide nameplate with zero-emission performance thanks to Aston Martin’s collaboration with Williams Advanced Engineering. The latter provides battery systems for Formula E cars, so it has extensive know-how of high-performance electric drivetrains. Although production of the Rapide E is limited to less than 200 vehicles, it introduces the brand to the all-electric market before Lagonda will take over as a zero-emission luxury brand.
2020 Aston Martin DBS Superleggera Volante
The 2020 Aston Martin DBS Superleggera Volante is the cabriolet version of the company’s latest range-topping grand tourer. Introduced to replace the already iconic but old Vanquish S Volante, the DBS Superleggera name returns after a six-year absence with a brand-new design, underpinnings from the 2018 Aston Martin DB11, and a turbocharged V-12 engine that generates in excess of 700 horsepower.
Designed to replace the aging Vanquish Volante, the 2020 DBS Superleggera Volante benefits from Aston Martin’s new design language that’s sleeker and more aggressive. The cabriolet is identical to the coupe below the waist, but it features a canvas top instead of the usual metal roof. A more luxurious interior, new technology, and a beefed-up drivetrain round out the grand tourer that challenges the 2020 Bentley Continental GTC.
1963 Aston Martin DP215 Grand Touring Competition Prototype
Originally designed to compete at Le Mans and considered to be “the most significant one-off Works Aston Martin” in existence, the 1963 Aston Martin DP215 Grand Touring Competition Prototype is also one of the most valuable collectible cars in the world. Exuding an almost mythical presence, the history of DP215 is one of heartbreak and accomplishment that marks the end of an era for the British automaker. Lovingly restored over a 40-year period with extensive consultation from the car’s original designer, DP215 now heads to the block later this month at the RM Sotheby’s event in Monterey, where it may very well become the most valuable British car ever sold at public auction.

2020 Aston Martin Mid-Engined Supercar
Aston Martin has yet to bring the Valkyrie hypercar into showrooms, but the Brits are already pondering a second supercar for their lineup. According to company CEO, Andy Palmer, the mid-engined supercar is also co-developed with Red Bull Racing, and 130 engineers and designers are already working on the project. The new vehicle will be aimed at the Ferrari 488 GTB.
The unnamed supercar will ride on a bespoke platform developed specifically for this model. Instead of the Valkyrie’s race-spec chassis or the Vantage’s bonded-aluminum platform, it will get its very own underpinnings that will feature a new carbon-fiber monocoque with aluminum sub-frames. There’s no specific word as to when it might arrive, but rumor has it sales will commence around 2020.

2018 Aston Martin DB11 Volante Henley Royal Regatta
One year after Aston Martin rolled out the DB11 Henley Royal Regatta, the British automaker is back at it, this time with the DB11 Volante Henley Royal Regatta. The new one-off DB11 Volante is the follow-up to last year’s one-off DB11, which was created to celebrate Aston Martin’s role as the official auto partner of the Henley Royal Regatta, considered as one of the world’s most prestigious and historic sporting events. Like the DB11 from last year, the DB11 Volante gets plenty of exclusive features, all of which come by way of Q by Aston Martin.
2019 Aston Martin DBS Superleggera
Having redesigned the DB9, which changed its name to the DB11, and the Vantage, Aston Martin now introduced a replacement for the Vanquish S. Much like the DB9, the Vanquish name was retired and replaced by a badge that goes back to the late 1960s. Meet the DBS Superleggera, the company’s new flagship grand tourer.
Built on the underpinnings of the DB11, the DBS Superleggera is lighter and more powerful. Tipping the scales at 3,733 pounds, the DBS shed nearly 160 pounds compared to the DB11. The grand tourer is also more aggressive by design, almost touching supercar territory thanks to its low-slung stance and really low ground clearance. The new grand tourer also pays homage to the historic super lightweight construction technology of the famous Italian coachbuilder Superleggera, which penned the iconic DB4 and DB5. 2019 Aston Martin DB11 Classic Driver Edition
Aston Martin’s Q by Aston Martin personalization program has come up with a bespoke DB11 to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Classic Driver, considered as the world’s first website for sophisticated car collectors and auto enthusiasts. The vehicle, called the Aston Martin DB11 Classic Driver Edition, is limited to just 20 units and will only be offered to a handful of customers and long-time members of the Classic Driver community.
2019 Aston Martin Rapide AMR
Introduced in 2010, the Aston Martin Rapide isn’t exactly fresh. Despite this, the British are in no hurry to replace the sedan, as no prototypes were spotted on public roads. However, Aston Martin just gave the Rapide the AMR treatment, thus creating its most extreme four-door sedan.
Previewed by a concept car displayed at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show, the Rapide AMR made it into production with very few changes. Aston Martin describes it as a vehicle that’s "capable of comfortably transporting a team of race drivers to a circuit on the other side of a continent and then tackling the track when they get there," and needless to say, the sedan looks pretty cool in the AMR suit. 2019 Aston Martin DB11 AMR
Aston Martin debuted the DB11 in 2016 at the Geneva International Motor Show, introducing it as a replacement for the critically acclaimed DB9. Offered with both a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V-8 from Mercedes-AMG and a twin-turbo 5.2-liter V-12 made in-house, the DB11 quickly established itself as a force to be reckoned with in the luxury grand tourer performance segment. Now, Aston is replacing the top-trim V-12 with an even-faster version from AMR, stuffing it with more power, sharper handling, and tons of aesthetic upgrades front to back, inside and out.

2018 Lagonda Vision Concept
Under Aston Martin ownership since 1947, Lagonda stopped making production cars in 1990, with a handful of models unveiled after the Aston Martin Lagonda sedan was discontinued. Rumored to make a comeback in the late 2000s, Lagonda finally returned to the market in 2014, when the limited-edition Taraf sedan was introduced. Four years have passed, since and Lagonda has now unveiled the Vision Concept at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show.
A futuristic vehicle with a sleek, shooting brake-like design, the Vision Concept sports a luxurious, four-seat interior that’s ready to give Rolls-Royce and Bentley products a run for their money. Like many modern concepts, it also has autonomous drive and uses a zero-emission drivetrain. More importantly, Lagonda says that the Vision Concept previews a production model that’s scheduled to hit the assembly line in 2021. The upcoming model will have an SUV body style and will borrow styling features from the Geneva show car. 2018 Aston Martin V12 Vantage V600
Aston Martin just redesigned the Vantage for 2018, replacing the previous model after no fewer than 13 years on the market. But, in a surprising turn of events, the British firm revived the old model for a limited-edition run called the Vantage V600. Built by the company’s Q division, the V600 was designed on request and will be produced in only 14 units, split between seven coupes and seven convertibles. The Vantage V600 pays tribute to the original V8 Vantage V600 that Aston Martin introduced in 1998.
Based on the Virage model sold between 1989 and 2000, the previous V600 was the most extreme iteration of the Vantage model. Powered by a 600 horsepower supercharged engine (remember, that was in 1998!), the first V600 was one of the most powerful sports cars of its time. Come 2018, and Aston Martin is sending the VH-platform Vantage into the history books with a similar model. Although not as extreme as its predecessor, the new-old V600 marks the official retirement of the iconic VH platform in two-door Aston Martins.

2019 Aston Martin Valkyrie AMR Pro
Earlier this year, Aston Martin unveiled the Valkyrie, an insane hybrid hypercar rocking four-digit output figures and the combined go-faster know-how of Aston Martin and Red Bull Racing, among several others. Designed to take on the best of the best in the world of superlative road-going performance, the Valkyrie hasn’t even hit production yet and Aston is already gearing up for a newer, faster version. Dubbed the Valkyrie AMR Pro, it’s a track-only variant of the Valkyrie that eliminates any remaining conciliations for street duty, pumping up the speed potential to ever-greater heights. Created as a collaborative effort between Aston and Red Bull, the Valkyrie AMR Pro once again takes direction from English Formula 1 mastermind Adrian Newey, offering more extreme aero, an all-business interior, more power, and less weight. The result is one serious speed machine, with Aston bragging it’ll have what it takes to challenge modern F1 and LMP1 racers in terms of lap times.
That’s a mighty impressive boast, especially for a platform that traces its roots to something you can drive on the road. Indeed, this is Aston’s idea of “ultimate,” the top of the mountain in the land of fast.
