2018 Aston Martin Vanquish Zagato Speedster
Introduced in 2012, the second-generation Vanquish isn’t yet as old as the model it replaced, but it won’t be long until Aston Martin unleashes the third-generation car. And it seems that the grand tourer is getting a proper send off with several special-edition models up for grabs. Arguably the most spectacular of them all is the Zagato, which was built in both coupe and Volante body styles. Limited to only 99 units each, the Zagatos are long gone as of 2017, but if you’re still looking to get one, Aston Martin just unveiled two new version wearing the Zagato badge. One of them is the Vanquish Zagato Speedster, a two-seat drop-top that steps away from the usual convertible configuration.
The Speedster’s arrival is far from surprising, because we’ve already seen a camo-free example being driver near the Nurburgring track earlier this summer. However, it is a bit surprising that it was designed as a two-seater, as is the fact that Aston Martin expanded the current Vanquish Zagato range to no fewer than four models, including a shooting brake. Every time Aston Martin unveils a new model, the Volante version is sure to be waiting right around the corner and the new Vanquish is no exception. The model was unveiled today at Aston Martin’s global HQ in Gaydon, Warwickshire, England as a celebration of the company’s centenary.
The upcoming Volante will borrow every detail from its coupe version, except, of course, for its lightweight fabric top that takes just 14 seconds to fold. It will feature the completely different lower front lip and small rectangular mouth than the new-generation Vanquish, as well as larger air ducts, revised headlight assemblies and nostril-style heat extractors on the hood. The rear of the vehicle features the new generation’s significantly larger and more aggressive spoiler, but the overall shape and design of the taillights is the same as on the 2012 model.

After being rumored for about three years now, the new V12 Vantage Roadster is finally here! Aston Martin hasn’t released any details on it just yet, but the first official images and specs have already surfaced the web. Before you get too excited, we have to tell you that this news comes with a dark side: the new V12 Vantage Roadster will be limited to only 101 units making it almost as exclusive as the One-77 and the V12 Zagato supercars.
Just like the coupe version, the V12 Vantage Roadster will be powered by a 6.0 liter V12 engine that delivers an amazing 510 HP and 420 lbs-ft of torque. Unlike the coupe, however, the new roadster has received a few updates: a revised rear deck lid with a re-designed spoiler, a redesigned front air gurney, and modified front and rear suspensions. These changes were made in order to ensure that the open-top version would have the same aerodynamic results as the coupe.
UPDATE 07/11/2012: Aston Martin has unveiled a new set of images for the V12 Vantage Roadster and have also confirmed that the model will only be available in select markets as a limited edition. For the 2013 model year, Aston Martin is producing an all new DBS, which means the current lineup is, of course, on its way out the door. Recently, an insider sat down with Car and Driver, and discussed what the British automaker’s plans are with the current DBS.
According to the source, the final 100 models of the DBS will be dubbed the DBS Ultimate Edition and will feature a nice array of extra goodies. The source didn’t offer too much about what the Ultimate Edition will include, but said to look to the differences between the 2010 DBS and the 2010 DBS Carbon Black for a good idea of what’s to come with this model.
This would first off mean that there are likely not going to be any mechanical modifications. Then again, 12-cylinder monster pumping out 510 ponies, there is really no need for any mechanical changes. For the most part, the changes will be extra features and a few mild visual changes.
The vast majority of the additions to the 2010 DBS Carbon Black Special Edition was making everything black on the inside and outside, except for a few splashes of silver on the inside. The rims were a polished alloy with its inserts painted, you guessed it, black! You also had the option of alloy or carbon black doorsill plates – woo hoo a choice other than black. The 2010 Carbon Black Special edition also added in an upgraded 1,000-watt stereo system.
To wrap this all up, we can anticipate a new paint job for the Ultimate Edition, something not already a part of the DBS line. A set of upgraded rims to mimic the paintjob should be expected. Plus, we should anticipate an upgraded stereo system from the already impressive 1,000 watt system on the existing DBS.

UPDATE 05/14/12:Aston Martin has announced prices for the new special edition DBS Ultimate: $287,576 for the coupe and $302,576 for the roadster version.
In 1965, the Aston Martin DB5 was on its way out of showrooms and the new DB6 was being shown off at the London Motor Show. Between these two events lies the shortest-lasting production model convertible ever produced by Aston: the 1966 Aston Martin Volante.
The Volante was based off of the 37 remaining unused 1965 DB5s, but donned the more luxurious amenities of the DB6. When this model debuted, it was nicknamed the “Short Chassis” in an effort to help distinguish it from the longer DB6. As a result of the name, many people mistook that as meaning it was actually a shortened version of the DB5, which it is not.
Despite its awesome performance for the era, sharp looks, and popularity, the Volante was only an interim car. It was used just to bridge the gap between the time that the DB5 left and the DB6 hit showrooms. This means that production ceased as soon as the 37 unused DB5 chassis were converted.
Coming across a rare Aston Martin like this happens just about as often as you have a chance of seeing a Sasquatch or the Loch Ness Monster. Okay, maybe it’s a little more likely than seeing those, but you get our point. Well, get your wallet and passport ready, as RM Auctions is just about to auction off one of the 37 1966 Aston Martin ’Short Chassis’ Volante units on May 12th, 2012 in Monaco.

German tuning specialists, Wheelsandmore, have taken an Aston Martin Vantage V8 as their next project, giving the British supercar a well-rounded set of upgrades that include a new set of wheels, a new suspension, and a slight increase in power.
As the name of their company suggests, Wheelsandmore is no stranger to having some of the best rims on the market. For the Vantage V8, they decided to dress it up with a new set of handcrafted 21" three-piece 6Sporz² forged rims wrapped in 55/30/21 tires at the front, and 295/25/21 tires at the back. To go with the new set of gorgeous rims, Wheelsandmore also gave the Vantage V8 a new suspension kit courtesy of KW that comes with a rebound and compression adjustable stainless steel coilover suspension variant 3. Lastly, Wheelsandmore gave the supercar a new 200 sport catalysts and flip-controlled exhaust system, giving the Vantage’s 4.7 Liter V8 engine an increased output of 460 horsepower and 369 lb/ft of torque, up from the standard model’s 420-horsepower output.
All told, it’s not the most extravagant tuning program done on the Aston Martin Vantage. But in terms of subtle improvements all the way around, this is about as beautiful as it gets without going overboard.
As expected, Aston Martin brought its latest iteration of the Vantage to the 2011 Geneva Motor Show. Aston has been designing rolling works of art for a very long time and has recently retaken a stance as a racing power as well. The company’s GT4 racecar won its class in two of the most important races of the year, Nurburgring 24 and Spa 24 hours, and have begun fusing racecar technology into the road cars with more fervor than ever before. The top-of-the-line V12 Vantage has the motor from the larger DB9 shoehorned into its engine compartment, making it a true hot rod. That formula may work for some, but others were seeing a lapse between the V12 model and the base V8.
At the beginning of Summer 2011, Aston Martin will introduce the V8 Vantage S, hoping to squeeze some more profit out of its best selling model line and please enthusiasts at the same time. Increases in engine performance, transmission, chassis, and aerodynamics will all further the appeal of an iconic sports car.
According to Dr. Ulrich Bez, CEO of Aston Martin, “The Vantage S epitomizes every attribute of the V-8 Vantage and pushes the driver experience beyond what we have offered before.”

Drinking a glass of fine wine with dinner is something a lot of people do when they want to unwind from a long, hard day, but when these same people want to celebrate something momentous, they bring out the Blanc de Blancs champagne. The same can be said of a great automobile. Sure you can drive around in a Mercedes on a daily basis, but for those special evenings, an Aston Martin V8 Vantage is the way to go. Bringing together these two ideas is Graf Weckerle who has designed a package for the V8 Vantage that gets its one-of-a-kind design from the most refreshing champagne produced.
The car’s interior and exterior are styled based on the white, green, and gold details on the Blanc de Blancs champagne bottle and look sensational on the sports car. The 21" wheels, however, leave much to be desired. Made of 180 titanium and aluminum parts, these "unique" wheels take up to 20 days to build. If it were up to us, we’d let them stay a little longer. No offense to the Graf Weckerle logo, which is what the wheels are styled after, but we can think of hundreds of other options that would have looked much better on this beautiful vehicle. But hey, at least the interior sparkles with 24 karat components.
In addition to the beautiful - and not so beautiful - stylings of the Aston Martin, Graf Weckerle have also tuned the standard 426hp 4.7 Liter V8 engine to deliver an improved 470hp.
Not a fan of the V8 Vantage? Graf Weckerle can also mount this package on an Aston Martin DBS and a Ferrari 599 GTB. Plans for adding it to the Ferrari 458 Italia are also in the works.
The next special edition Aston Martin DB9 to come out of Warwickshire is about a 180 degree turn from the dark and mysterious ride revealed earlier. It’s called Morning Frost and, unlike the Carbon Black edition, combines a pearlescent white exterior with a befitting metallic bronze leather interior.
The color may be different, but the DB9 Morning Frost will get the same Piano Black center console and door grabs, Touchtronic II transmission, and 19” 10 spoke silver diamond-turned wheels as did the Black Carbon. However, this DB9 will also get silver brake calipers, magnum silver grilles, and metallic bronze leather headlining with perforated seat inners. The final touch for this special edition will be the unique laser etched sill plaque depicting the famous wings insignia along with the "Morning Frost" logo.
The new DB9 Morning Frost edition is available for order from Aston Martin’s global dealership network.
After the V8 Vantage N420 coupe, Aston Martin has unveiled today a roadster version for this special edition. The roadster version will go on sale at a price of $145,000.
Like the coupe version, the roadster is powered by a 4.7-liter engine that delivers 420bhp and it mated to a a six-speed manual or optional Sportshift automated manual transmission. Also the car is 27 kilos lighter than a standard V8 Vantage.
The N420 edition is distinguished by a carbon fibre splitter, side strakes and diffuser, while bold 10-spoke diamond turned alloy wheels complete with gloss black finish, black mesh vents and ’Graphitic’ tailpipe finishers complete the coordinated look. The interior gets graphite instruments, leather or Alcantara® steering wheel, special N420 sill plaques and lightweight carbon fiber seats, complete with ’Race Track’ stitching as in the V12 Vantage. Bluetooth connectivity, cruise control, and Park Distance Control are also standard. It will be offered in ’Rose’ yellow, ’Kermit’ green and ’Elwood’ blue exterior color.
The 2010 Aston Martin V8 Vantage will appear in dealer’s showrooms starting in January of 2010 and the English super car maker has just released a few official images of the 2010 car in both coupe and convertible forms. The new Vantage will come complete with a few modifications inspired by the Nurburgring special N400 Vantage.
The 2010 model will get new optional 10 spoke forged 19 inch alloy wheels with a diamond turned and silver finish. The rear of the new Aston receives a set of cleared out tail lamps while up front the 2010 Vantage benefits from a Magnum silver bonnet. On the inside the hand built super car maker is offering a pair of lightweight carbon kevlar racing buckets that shed over 35 pounds from the sports car as well as the optional 1000 Watt Bang & Olufsen in car entertainment system.
Aston Martin will retain the same 420 HP 4.7 Liter V8 engine, with a few mechanical changes being confirmed for the electronically controlled transmission that will lower the hand built sports car’s CO2 emissions from 328 to 315 g/km, and all the way down to 300 g/km for the Speedshift version allowing Aston’s super car owners to sleep a little easier at night knowing that their new cars are a bit greener than before.
