The crazy powerful and very rare Aston Martin One-77 has been in the public eye now for some time, after it was first shown in North America at the lovely Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. Like all Aston Martin products, this one is stunning in every category, from exterior styling to power. What they have done with theOne-77 is fuse advanced technology with a stunning design to create possibly the world’s most desirable automotive art form.

Yet, as is the way with these things, most people in the world will never get the chance to own or even drive one of these vehicles. The first reason is the price, which is - get ready for this - $1.4 million. Fine, we can just sell everything we own and work really hard for the next 50 years. Yet, even if you have the money, only 77 will be made, making this automotive art form quite rare indeed.

UPDATE 04/06/11: And then there were ten... Interested in purchasing the One-77? You still have a chance because there are ten units still available. Potential customers seem to be hesitating due to the fact that they can’t test drive their $1.4 million investment before they buy it. Sounds reasonable to us.

UPDATE 08/04/11: Aston Martin has unveiled a new video revealing the One-77 supercar in action on the French Mountain roads, just a few short miles from the famous Paul Ricard circuit in France. This video apparently shows the highlights of the vehicle’s visit to the mountains. Enjoy!

Video: Meet the World’s Fastest Police Cars

Dubai is a rich country where the word "excess" is thrown completely out of the local vernacular. It’s hard to imagine that as late as three decades ago, Dubai was a barren town with little to nothing to show for it. But today, it’s become a high-class metropolis that has no shortage of wealth and extravagance. And from what we’ve seen in past months, the Dubai Police Force can attest to that, thanks to its lineup of supercars that have been converted into police cruisers.

We saw a lot of them earlier this year when it seemed that there was a new supercar-turned-police-car every week. But it’s only now that we get to see them all together all while talking to the police officers who carry the privilege of driving these exotics on a daily basis.

Department of Transport and Rescue acting director Anas Al Matrooshi gave Vocativ a comprehensive tour of Dubai’s finest police cruisers. If you haven’t seen them before, you need to check them out now.

There’s a Bugatti Veyron Super Sport, a Ferrari FF, a McLaren 12C, a Lamborghini Aventador, and one of only seven Aston Martin One-77 models in the world.

In other locations on the planet, that’s a garage for the ultra rich and famous. But in Dubai, those are just police cars.

That’s just how they roll over there.

Video: Aston Martin Represents in GRID 2

Don’t be mistaken by GRID 2’s standing in the hierarchy of car racing video games. It doesn’t hold the cache of Gran Turismo and Forza Motorsports. Nor does it have the history of Need for Speed.

What it does have is a pretty good video game, one that’s now made even better with the presence of Aston Martin. Specifically, three of the finest Astons to have ever been built: the One-77, the V12 Zagato and the new Vanquish.

If for nothing else, Aston Martin’s presence in Grid 2 is a perfect marketing collaboration for the two companies. But even that pales to what the possibilities could be once you get to play the three exotics in the game.

GRID 2 isn’t scheduled to hit shelves until later this year, but we’re already excited to see how these three Astons fare in the world of GRID 2.

Video: This Is How The Dubai Police Department Rolls

In case you’ve been living under a rock for the past month, you might have missed out on the Dubai Police’s lineup of new cars. And if you didn’t know any better, you might have guessed that this was some kind of ostentatious joke by the Middle Eastern country.

But the latest video seems to suggest otherwise, as three of the cars dressed up in the PD’s now famous white and green livery were filmed patrolling the highways of Dubai. That, or the police just wanted to show motorists - that includes you, Justin Bieber - the kind of cars that will be hunting them down should they decide to break some traffic laws.

These cars aren’t Ford Crown Victorias, fellas. These are some of the fastest and most powerful cars on the planet and if you think that you can provoke them to a car chase and get away with it, well, we don’t like your chances one bit.

Aston Martin One-77 Joins Dubai's Ridiculous Police Fleet

Aston Martin One-77 Joins Dubai’s Ridiculous Police Fleet

Anybody that can proudly say they have a Ferrari FF, a Lamborghini Aventador, a Bentley Continental GT, and a Mercedes SLS AMG in their garage can lay claim to a pretty impressive supercar collection.

But in true spirit of Dubai’s opulence and love for the bombastic, its police force has just dressed up these four supercars in its official livery. But that’s not why the force has made news yet again. It’s back in the news because these supercars just weren’t for the luxurious fleet of police vehicles.

Nope. It has now added an Aston Martin One-77 into the mix. Talk about taking it a little too far, huh?

In an event photo posted by GT Spirit, it appears that the Dubai Police force is taking its fascination for exotic police cars to a whole new level. It’s one thing to have a Ferrari and a Lamborghini, but an Aston Martin that costs $1.4 million?

More importantly, it’s one of just seven Q-Series One-77 models that are in existence that it decided to deck in its now-familiar white and green garb. That in itself drives up the value to well over $2 million!

At this point, we wouldn’t be surprised if the Dubai Police gets its hands on a Bugatti Veyron and turns that one into a police car, too.

2013 Aston Martin One-77 Q-Series by Aston Martin

2013 Aston Martin One-77 Q-Series by Aston Martin

From the already exclusive number of One-77 units produced, Aston Martin decided to pull an even more exclusive run of seven units to be specially developed under the Q by Aston Martin program. One of these new, limited special edition models is available for sale by Al Ain Class Motors for a mind-boggling AED 11 Million - that’s about $2,995,000 at the current exchange rates. Exclusivity rears its ugly head here because that’s more than double the price of a standard One-77 at "only" $1.4 million.

This particular One-77 combines a cool grey exterior with a vibrantly red interior, but the Q by Aston Martin program was also able to spice up the super car with a ton of carbon fiber, a header-mounted track-day HD video camera, a luggage rack, and a forged, diamond turned wheel.

As far as power is concerned, customers will still be getting the naturally aspirated 7.3-liter V12 that delivers a total of 750 HP and a peak torque of 533 lbs-ft. Top speed is fantastically set at 221 mph.

The World's Fastest Supercars to Duke it out at the 2012 Pageant of Power

The World’s Fastest Supercars to Duke it out at the 2012 Pageant of Power

You know it’s race season with all of the awesome races we are talking about and one lesser known, but equally awesome, race is set to take place June 15th – 17th, 2012. This race is appropriately dubbed the Pageant of Power, as it boasts some of the world’s fastest supercars all battling for the fastest lap time on a 1.2-mile-long track.

This race is headlined by a Bugatti Veyron Super Sport featuring a 258 mpg top speed, one of now 76 remaining Aston Martin One-77s following the horrific death of one earlier in the week, and a Maserati GranTurismo MC Stradale. We venture to say that with the Bugatti is in this year’s running and the 62.68-second lap time record set by Nikki Faulkner in 2010 is in jeopardy, but we will have to wait and see.

The event is expected to pull in a total of 75,000 fans and with tickets starting at just £26 ($39) for a single-day pass and ranging up to £85 ($127.50) for a full 3-day pass with access to the fireworks display and the Mossley Brass Band show, there is no wonder it draws such a high number of fans. $127.50 for three days of supercars tearing up a track and a well-produced fireworks display to follow sounds like a sweet deal to us!

In addition to the supercars, there is a class dedicated only to AC Cobras with the same purpose of completing the 1.2-mile track in the shortest amount of time. There is also a series of Autograss races run throughout the weekend, which occur on a 400-meter-long oval soil track plus there is an ultra-technical Supermoto class, which is a mixture of motocross and road racing.

Needless to say, there is plenty of piston-thumping excitement throughout the entire weekend to keep any motorhead interested.

First Aston Martin One-77 goes down

First Aston Martin One-77 goes down

And here we go: the count down beings! When Aston Martin launched the One-77 supercar announced a number of 77 units will be produced. Unfortunately the first one is already dead. The accident occurred this past week in Hong Kong, China.

It seems that the car involved in the accident is one of the last units to be produced, so it was brand new. There are no real details on what really happened in here, but judging by the look of this wrecked One-77 we are sure that the driver lost control at high speeds. It looks like both front an back wheels have buckled, but the interior looks intact, so hopefully no one has been injured during this sad event.

A brand new One-77 is priced at $1.4 million! And considering the car has lots of carbon fiber in it, for sure it will raise the repairing cost pretty high. So, Aston Martin One-76 anyone?

Aston Martin One-77 Sold Out

Aston Martin delivered its first One-77 supercar back in January 2011 and now, after more than a year, the company has officially sold out of all its 77 units, despite the car’s huge price of $1,825,000. The company has sold out a total of 4200 vehicles in the past 12-months, including all of the 77 One-77 units. Compared to the previous year, the company ’s profit has been increased by 7% to a total of $817.3-million.

During a recent interview at the 2012 Beijing Auto Show, Aston Martin’s CEO Dr. Ulrich Bez said: "The Aston Martin brand is stronger than ever. This is demonstrated by intense interest in the new V12 Zagato, recently shown at the Geneva Motor Show, and our $1.93-million One-77 supercar – all 77 of which are now sold."

The One-77 is powered by a 7.3-liter V12 engine that delivers 750 hp. The supercar sprints from 0 to 60 time of 3.5 seconds and can hit a top speed beyond 200 mph.

Last Aston Martin One-77 now on sale

When Aston Martin announced the One-77 supercar, they were quick to point out that it would only be produced in a limited run of 77 units. Even the people that had the extra money to bag a car like this, would have limited time to do so, especially considering the car’s been rumored to be sold out a number of times. For one lucky person, that rumor is unbelievably not true.

Mark J. Tillman, Aston Martin manager at Aston Martin Tampa Bay, has announced that the last One-77 unit has been put on sale. This car is a pre-built model that is part of the five to eight cars slotted for the United States. It’s priced at $1,850,000 and will more than likely go quick considering it’s the very last model available.

As a reminder, the One-77 is powered by a naturally aspirated 7.3-liter V12 engine that develops a total of 750 horsepower with a 0-60 mph time of just 3.5 seconds and a top speed of 220 mph.

TopSpeed’s Fastest Cars of 2011

We’re rounding off our Best of 2011 lists with one that is near and dear to our hearts. This list is all about top speed and top speed only, those who have it and one who hopes to achieve it.

Of course, speed hopes are nothing new. The battle for the fastest car in the world has been ongoing since the sports and super cars first made their appearance and more than likely, it will never end. These past couple years have been a game of one-upmanship between SSC and Bugatti with both succeeding in one way or another. But who tops the list for 2011?

Before getting into that, we think it is important to note that we only incorporated vehicles that were sold in 2011. For example, the Koenigsegg CCX may have a top speed of 240 mph, but that production ended in 2010, which takes the supercar out of the running for this list in particular. Don’t worry, though, Koenigsegg is still well-represented.

Hit the jump to see the top ten list of the fastest cars of 2011.

Aston Martin One-77 and Cadillac Ciel mark their North American debut with Best in Show

For automakers, there’s nothing better than showing up at the debut for one of your automobiles and getting a top notch award for your hard work. Aston Martin, Cadillac, and Ford will vouch for that since their One-77, Ciel Concept, and Focus Plug-In Electric Vehicle were all given best in show awards at the 41st annual South Florida International Auto Show (SFIAS) by the Southern Automotive Media Association (SAMA). SAMA had to choose between many of the participants in Miami, but in the end, these vehicles were chosen because of their styling and marketability.

The Aston Martin One-77 was awarded the “Star of the Show” trophy because the nine-member SAMA judging panel decided it was the single vehicle on display at the show that South Floridians will most want to see. Other vehicles considered for the award were the Audi A7, the Lexus GS sedan, the Mercedes-Benz C-Class, the Toyota Camry, the Range Rover Evoque, and the Hyundai Veloster.

The Cadillac Ciel Concept was given the Best Concept Vehicle in the Show because of its stunning beauty and because SAMA considered it a forerunner of future Cadillac styling. Meanwhile, the Ford Focus Plug-In Electric Vehicle took home the “Best Green Technology Vehicle” in the show because of the fact that it is Ford’s first non-emissions, plug-in electric car to be mass produced and marketed in the United States. Other vehicles considered were the Mitsubishi i-MiEV, the Toyota Prius V, and various manufacturers’ hybrid and clean diesel technology vehicles.

The South Florida International Auto Show (SFIAS) runs until November 6, 2011, so stop by the Miami Beach Convention Center to check out these award-winning models.

Video: Aston Martin One-77 featured in ’Mega-Factories’

Out of sight, out of mind. Some things apply to this age-old adage, but not the Aston Martin One-77.

As the crown jewel of the British automaker’s auto line-up, the One-77 holds great esteem as the finest and most expensive car Aston Martin has ever produced. Only 77 models of the car will be released, all of which are hand-crafted. The allure of the supercar was more than enough reason for National Geographic to dedicate an entire episode of their ’MegaFactories’ series solely on the One-77.

In the episode, MegaFactories took a closer look at the highly skilled manufacturing process of the One-77, complete with all the intricate details that come in building a supercar that uses both modern technology and traditional hand-craftsmanship to come out with the finished product.

Aston Martin One-77 for sale in Dubai

Aston Martin One-77 for sale in Dubai

If yesterday we reported that there are only 10 units of the Aston Martin One-77 supercar that haven’t been allocated, now we bring you a good news, that of course if you are from Dubai. Alain Class Motors has one Aston Martin One-77 up for sale. However, they did not announced the price for the car, but we bet it will be much higher that the $1,4 millions asked by the company.

The car for sale is painted in pearlescent white combined with a red leather interior. Under the hood there is a 7.3 liter V12 engine that delivers a total of 750 HP and 553 lb-ft of torque and is mated to a six-speed robotized manual gearbox. Those astronomical performance numbers and the One-77’s 3,300 pound curb weight will rocket the car from 0 to 60 mph in approximately 3.5 seconds and to an impressive top speed of 220 mph.

Now, we think we have offered you all the details to buy this car, what else do you need? Oh yes... the money. Well, your move here!

Aston Martin dwindles down to 10 units of the One-77; Are test drives an option?

Aston Martin dwindles down to 10 units of the One-77; Are test drives an option?

Aston Martin knew they had a gem when they put together the One-77 supercar, which is why they limited its production to 77 units. We all know just how quickly fancy cars can get sold out when the waiting public is finally allowed to order them - just ask Ferrari and Lamborghini - but despite previous rumors, the One-77 still has some units left to dole out. As of December 2010, Aston Martin had 17 One-77 models waiting for owners and now that number has dwindled down to 10. It seems as if the supercar started out running, but sales have slowed down due to potential customers wanting to test drive the $1.4 million car before they purchase it. Obviously, Aston Martin does not have a fleet of One-77 test cars available so this will be a difficult task to accomplish.

The British manufacturer may have to think of something and fast if they anticipate selling the remainder of their crazy expensive supercar. They’ve already gone back on the restriction of one One-77 purchase per person when a Middle Easterner ordered ten units last year, so maybe they’ll come up with a plan to satisfy the potential buyers without necessarily putting them in a $1.4 million supercar that they may or may not buy. We just can’t see anything but liability in a move like that.

2011 Aston Martin DBX Concept Study

2011 Aston Martin DBX Concept Study

While Aston Martin is busy bringing the new Virage to the Geneva Auto Show, two Polish industrial design students have been occupying themselves with their DBX Concept Study. Some may remember the DBX when its potential production was rumored back in 2007. At that time, Aston Martin had just been purchased by ProDrive and was looking into preparing new models for the future. The DBX was rumored to be a vehicle that would fight the Mercedes SLR and Bugatti Veyron, but the DBX name was never actually used. Instead, Aston Martin revealed the One-77.

However, Norbert Adamowicz and Lukasz Kadula, who are not associated with Aston Martin whatsoever, have taken it upon themselves to use the DBX name in their design study. This vehicle is a two-seater sports car that combines design elements from all of the Aston Martin models, with the One-77 as its main inspiration. The duo said nothing about the car’s powertrain, but they did confirm that their vehicle will be a mid-engined sports car.

While we do like their work, we still prefer the One-77 as the only Aston Martin supercar, even if it is limited to only 77 units and carries a huge price. It is powered by a naturally aspirated 7.3-liter V12 engine that delivers an impressive 750 hp and sprints the car to a top speed of 220 mph. If the industrial design students can top that, then we’ll consider it. But first, they’ll need to take it up with Aston Martin.

First Aston Martin One-77 delivered to customer

First Aston Martin One-77 delivered to customer

Now over two years in the making, the Aston Martin One-77 has finally been delivered to its very first customer. The lucky owner from Monaco, along with his supercar, was spotted for the first time in front of the Hotel de Paris in the center of Monte Carlo. Since he received the very first One-77, we are going to assume that he paid the original price of 1,340,000 euro (around $1,825,000 at the current exchange rates) and just slipped past paying the 17% increase of $235,000 that was added to the price tag of the remaining 17 models back in November.

The One-77 is powered by a 7.3-liter V12 engine (same from the DBS, the DB9, and the new V12 Vantage) that delivers 750 hp. With a projected weight of 1,500kg, the One-77 should be very quick with a predicted 0-60 time of 3.5 seconds. Aston Martin also says that the engine will be able to pull the car to a top speed beyond 200 mph.

60 Aston Martin One-77s sold; 17 more to go

A while ago it was rumored that the Aston Martin One-77 supercar was sold out. Not true. However, the supercar is selling better than expected. After less than a year since its official launch, Aston Martin has sold 60 One-77 units, despite its incredible $1.87 million plus tax price. That just leaves 17 units unaccounted for at this time, so if you were a good boy this year, start your praying and maybe Santa will deliver one for you for Christmas.

If you do decide to mortgage out your house and purchase a One-77, then you should know that for all its One-77 customers, Aston Martin is offering the possibility to choose an Aston Martin Cygnet city car to match. According to Aston, most of the clients have already said yes to the little Cygnet because they say it is the ideal car for hanging off the rear of a yacht and can be used as an everyday car. So, basically, in order to buy and appreciate a Cygnet you must have a yacht and a One-77. This little car is getting kind of expensive, huh?

2010 Aston Martin One-77 not sold out despite increased interest

2010 Aston Martin One-77 not sold out despite increased interest

If you just got a big year end bonus at that high-end job, head over to your local Aston Martin dealer and order yourself a One-77. According to the Dutch Autoblog, 22 examples of the gorgeously styled, uber-fast, and sensationally expensive machine are still for sale. One would have thought that this vehicle would have sold out by now, but it seems that only 55 of the 77 are spoken for.

While some might think that this is an issue for the company, Aston isn’t worried since the official production version of the One-77 hasn’t even been produced yet. That’s right, 55 vehicles were sold and the car hasn’t even been built. Of course, the fact that the production of this supercar has dragged out for so long may be the reason why some of those contracts have yet to be signed.

Next month, those customers that do have a solid contract for the supercar will get to drive the One-77 for the first time. We don’t doubt that everybody who drives this 750 horsepower machine will fall in love, which may be a good marketing tool to finally get rid of the remaining models.

2011 Aston Martin One-77 to produce 750hp

2011 Aston Martin One-77 to produce 750hp

When Aston Martin revealed the One-77 supercar they announced it would be powered by the same 6.0-liter V12 engine featured in the DB9. This would lead some people to expect the One-77 to produce about 470hp as the DB9 does or 700hp like the previous One-77 model. Those people would be horribly, horribly wrong. The Aston Martin One-77’s V12 engine has been tuned to deliver an insane 750 HP and 750Nm of torque, making it the most powerful naturally aspirated engine in the world today.

Dr. Ulrich Bez, Chief Executive of Aston Martin said: "The One-77 is approaching a production reality and of course, there is considerable excitement in the project. Now the next steps are all about details and refinement to complete the composition. I know the final car will demonstrate what the Aston Martin team is capable of."

The One-77 will feature a front mid-mounted engine and the transmission mounted toward the rear of the car. What will be unique to the One-77 will be that the suspension will be mounted inboard to further increase the weight to the ideal center of the car. It will be limited to only 77 units and priced at $1.3 million.

Aston Martin One-77 test mule spotted at Nurburgring

The beautifully sleek and outrageously fast Aston Martin One-77 is making headlines again, and this time it is strutting its stuff on the famous Nurburgring track under a very promiscuous sounding name. “Dirty Shirly” was seen undergoing about 14 mysterious activities while taking a few laps around the track and it still looks as beautiful as when it was seen at the Silverstone track and on the streets of London. We simply can’t get enough of this car, and at a price of about $1.3 million and a limited quantity of 77, this is as close as we are going to get to one of them.

The same can’t be said, however, for a certain gentleman in the Middle East who, rumors suggest, has already purchased 10 copies of the supercar from Aston for a “bargain” $18.5 million. If these rumors are true then this chap will have 10 copies of the amazing supercar powered by the 6.0L V12 based off the engines found in the V12 Vanquish and the V12 Vantage. What makes the One-77 even more spectacular is that the engine has been modified to deliver over 700 horsepower. Aston has stated that this supercar was created with DTM series race cars in mind and these numbers absolutely show proof of that.

Video: Aston Martin One-77 rolls around in the streets of London

.

Picture are all well and good, especially when you don’t have a whole lot of options to choose from. However, as is the case, ’pictures may be worth a thousand words; videos are worth the whole library’.

When we recently scooped up photos of that divine white Aston Martin One-77 frolicking around in the streets of London on its way to the rally parade at the new Silverstone racetrack, we figured that it would only be a matter of time before videos of the whole shindig found themselves on YouTube.

Turns out, we didn’t have to wait long.

At $2 million a pop, it’s not hard for the One-77 to stand out, even if it’s accompanied by a large number of supercars. That’s exactly where the One-77 found itself as it was joined by a what’s what of supercars on its way to the Silverstone rally. Some eagle-eyed fellows managed to take a video of the supercar at the St. James district in London as it rolled around the streets with everybody possessing two eyes staring at it intently. That is, of course, the price you pay for being a $2 million supercar, something only a handful of other cars in this world can boast.

White Aston Martin One-77 leads a parade of supercars to the "new" Silverstone racetrack

White Aston Martin One-77 leads a parade of supercars to the "new" Silverstone racetrack

There aren’t a lot of supercars that are capable of standing out in a large supercar rally. For the rare ones that do grab your attention, you’d be hard-pressed to find anything more pleasantly eye-catching than seeing a white Aston Martin One-77 leading the pack.

The truth is, there aren’t a lot of cars in this world that are as ’beastly’ as the One-77. So when Aston Martin rolled out the superduper car for its first public outing last weekend dressed in white no less, you could say that a lot of eyebrows were raised.

Don’t worry, though. It’s not the kind of picqued curiosity associated with cars being given a touch of overkill. The white One-77 is actually beauty personified, a living contradiction of a monster of a car dressed in a clean, almost ’virginal’, white outfit.

The car was rolled out as part of the opening of the "new" Silverstone circuit in the UK where in addition to wowing the people with its new garb, the white One-77 also showed off its monstrous capabilities out on track.

Aston Martin One-77 Volante rendering

Aston Martin One-77 Volante rendering

Even if not officially confirmed, there’s a very big chance for the Aston Martin One-77 supercar to also get a Volante version (like most of the Aston Martin models). This rendering, created by a self-proclaimed auto-manipulator, gives us a taste of what a convertible one-77 could look like. And like its coupe, it will be a limited edition priced at more than $1.5 million.

The One-77 coupe is powered by a 6.0-liter V12 engine (same as the DBS, DB9 and new V12 Vantage) that delivers 700 hp. With a projected weight of 1,500kg, the One-77 should be very quick (Aston predicts a 0-60 time of 3.5 seconds). Aston also says the engine will be able to pull the car to a top speed beyond 200 mph.

Let’s just hope we will get a chance to soar in a one-77 Volante soon. After all, volante does mean flying and we can’t wait to test this claim.

Video: Aston Martin One 77 testing

For most of us, the closest sniff we can ever have of the new Aston Martin One-77 will be in one of those high-end glossy car magazines. Maybe we can catch a video here or there of the One-77 in action.

Things like this already makes our day because we know that we have neither the resources nor wherewithal to even come a mile of driving one home. So, as you can expect, this new video released by Aston Martin showing the ultra-exclusive super car testing on a race track brings us much joy because it’s about as close as we can get to watch one in action. Enjoy!

One customer gets 10 Aston Martin One-77

OK, there’s unfair, and then there’s totally unfair. We know that theAston Martin One-77 is limited to only 77 units, so, obviously, production is limited, to say the least. But here’s the really outrageous part. An Iranian shiek recently placed orders to buy 10 units of the One-77. That’s right! 10! That’s like 13% of all that’s ever going to be made. Not that we had any chance of throwing away seven digits of money but still. What makes this even more unbelievable is that the buyer apparently bought the cars for his "family."

When the customer made his demand (10 cars delivered by September), you can imagine skepticism from the guys from Aston Martin who said that the whole transaction might be impossible. Undaunted, the beyond wealthy buyer wrote a cheque for $17,000,000, which obviously, was enough moolah to change Aston Martin’s mind. As a refresher an One-77 costs $1.4 million.

Oh, and apparently, there’s more. There is another guy who asked for two One-77s: one to drive and one to hang on the wall as a piece of art.

If we only we had these kinds of problems...

One-77 supercar breaks speed record for an Aston Martin

One-77 supercar breaks speed record for an Aston Martin

Amidst all the hoopla surrounding the release of other supercars recently – among them the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG, the Ferrari 458 Italia, and the Lexus LF-A – one soon-to-be-released limited run supercar has been inexplicably left in the backburner.

Not anymore.

The Aston Martin One-77 recently went on a test run to gauge the top speed of the car and the results have been nothing short of jaw-dropping. The One-77 supercar recorded a speed of 220.007 mph, which if you’re keeping track, is the fastest any car Aston Martin has ever produced.

The previous record-holder was the Aston Martin Vanquish with a time of just a shade over 200 mph, which, needless to say the One-77 easily vanquished, no pun intended.

Press release after the jump.

Video: Aston Martin One-77 unveiled

The new Aston Martin One-77 is more than just a supercar; it’s a godsend on wheels.

After its US unveiling at Pebble Beach last week, Aston Martin’s new flagship supercar has been making the headlines with its overall package, which is mind-blowing, to say the least. Even for the stratospheric standards given to supercars, the One-77 is being hailed as head and shoulders above the rest. It’s 7.3-liter V-12 engine, which is capable of churning up more than 700 horsepower and a top speed of well over 200 mph, as well as a 0-60 mph time of 3.9 seconds.

If justifying the One-77 as the car every man wishes to be behind the wheel of, we came across this video of the One-77 in action. You may have to wait to get to the good part, but believe us, it’s all worth it.

Aston Martin One-77 makes first U.S. appearance at Pebble Beach

Aston Martin One-77 makes first U.S. appearance at Pebble Beach

When Aston Martin unveiled its $2 million supercar, the One-77, in Europe a few months ago, American fans of the British carmaker have waited with baited breath for the One-77 to make its first official appearance on US soil.

That day has finally come after Aston Martin pulled the covers out of its latest supercar at the 2009 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. Noteworthy for its jaw-dropping performance - even for supercar standards - the One-77 boasts of 7.3-liter V-12 engine, capable of churning up more than 700 horsepower, a top speed of well over 200 mph and a 0-60 mph time of 3.9 seconds.

To justify the car’s stratospheric price tag, Aston Martin spared no expense in fine-tuning every detail in the car, including carbon ceramic wheels, LED headlights, and a white leather interior with personalized stitching of the two-seat cabin. There’s only one other car that has approached a $2 million fetching price: the Bugatti Veyron. The Aston Martin One-77 is looking to join that ultra-exclusive list as it goes country hopping in anticipation of the car’s official release sometime down the road.

For now, the sight of the One-77 in the flesh should suffice, especially for Americans who have waited months to catch a glimpse of the ‘next big thing’ of supercars up close and personal.

What those owners are buyin is a 6.0 Liter V12 engine that makes 700 HP and weighs in at only 1,500 kilograms, that is a scant 3,300 pounds, nothing for a V12 powered speed machine. Video: Aston Martin One-77 with Dr. Ulrich Bez

Aston Martin’s One-77 is pretty much a shoe-in for the 2009 car of the year. With its 6.0 Liter V12, the same power plant as the DBS, DB9 and new V12 Vantage. With a peak output of 700 HP and a projected curb weight of 3,300 pounds, the One-77 should be blisteringly quick, the now Prodrive owned manufacturer predicts a 0 to 60 MPH time of around 3.5 seconds and a top speed in excess of 200 MPH.

The One-77 will indeed be true super car from the English coach builders, but until it does go on sale we will just have to settle for ogling it in moving pictures. Our friends at the U.K. based, Autocar, had a chance to speak with Aston Martin’s CEO Dr. Ulrich Bez about the upcoming One-77. Enjoy!

Aston Martin One-77 Internal Product Brief

Aston Martin seems to want to reveal the One-77 piece by piece. We were more than happy when the company showed off a full-size styling model as well as chassis and powertrain skeleton at Geneva. The only thing that was missing was the interior. Now it seems we may have the final piece of the puzzle with a leaked document from Aston.

Although we already knew elements like the inboard suspension, near 50/50 weight distribution and full carbon fiber structure, the whole leaked document is worth going through. It not only reveals the interior sketches, but also fills in the gaps on just about every other detail of the car. Everything from the Bang and Olufsen 1000 Watt stereo system to 3300 lbs curb weight (550 of which will be the Cosworth-tuned 700 hp 7.3-liter V12.)

As much as we like to see the One-77 on paper, we’re still hoping that our friends at Aston will let us take one of the 77 planed cars out for a spin. Priced at £1,000,000 each (about $1.4 million at today’s rates), we can’t see any reason why a few wouldn’t end up in the press fleet.

2009 Aston Martin One-77

2009 Aston Martin One-77

Aston Martin brought two mockups of the One-77 to Geneva. Between the full size styling model, and chassis and powertrain skeleton, we know have a pretty good idea of how the £1 million (about $1.4 at current rates) supercar will shape up.

The One-77 is powered by a 6.0-liter V12 engine (same from the DBS, DB9 and new V12 Vantage) that delivers 750 hp. With a projected weight of 1,500kg the One-77 should be very quick (Aston predicts a 0-60 time of 3.5 seconds.) Aston also says the engine will be able to pull the car to a top speed beyond 200 mph.

The skeletal model showed off the full carbon fiber monocoque chassis, which is extremely lightweight and rigid. Like all Aston Martins, the One-77 will feature a front mid-mounted engine and the transmission mounted toward the rear of the car. What will be unique to the One-77 will be that the suspension will be mounted inboard to furter increase the weight to the ideal center of the car.

Although the supercar is limited to a production run of only 77 cars, there should still be a few available.

Updated 11/15/2010: Aston martin has unveiled today a new promotional video of their coolest supercar ever: the One-77. The car is simply described as "an work of art" and we couldn’t agree more. Enjoy!

Aston Martin One-77 not really sold out

Aston Martin One-77 not really sold out

Rumors of its unavailability have been greatly exaggerated.

Not long after Aston Martin announced the very limited production supercar called One-77, we got word that there were 100 orders for the car limited to 77 units. Yeah, well um, that’s not so much true (c’mon we’re not exact CNN here people.) Aston actually got 100 people who expressed interest in the car, but that doesn’t equal sales (just because you can write a letter to Danica Patrick, doesn’t mean she’ll date you.) So there are still a few cars left, and we’re still single.

We expect the One-77 to be powered by a 7.0-liter V12 engine that delivers over 700 hp and over 550 lb-ft. of torque. The 0 to 60 mph sprint will be made in 3.5 seconds, while top speed should go up to 200 mph. The full price of the car is about £1 million. Thanks to current rates in the dollar’s favor, it will make the car a steal at around $1.4 million.

So those select few who still think a few million dollars is considered “mad money”, Aston Martin will gladly take your £200,000 towards a new One-77. Don’t try that with Danica, she may beat you like you blocked her in pit lane.

Aston Martin received 100 orders for the One-77

Aston Martin announced the extra-limited edition One-77. And even if its priced at $1.9 million the company already received 100 orders for the supercar. But the big dilemma is that the One-77 will be limited to only 77 units, so who will be the 23 ones that will not get their exclusive Aston Martin? (Anyone smell a Highlander-like showdown for the British supercar?)

Chief designer Marek Reichmann said interest in the car had been ‘incredible’. Buyers have reportedly put down a £200,000 deposit for the car with deliveries to start in autumn of 2009.

The One-77 will be powered by naturally aspired front-mounted mid-engine 7.3-liter V12 engine that delivers over 700 hp and a peak torque of 750Nm (553 ft lbs). The engine is mated to a 6 speed ASM/SSM Automated Manual Transmission.

Since we’re calling it a supercar, speed is always a priority. To help with this, the chassis will be made from lightweight carbon fiber and and all panels should be made from aluminum. The car’s plans also call for a deployable rear spoiler, likely in the same fashion as the Porsche 911 or Mercedes SLR.
