You don’t really see Audi come up with such stuff, but the automaker has revealed a ‘Color Edition’ of its most powerful product - the R8 LMS GT2. But, in all fairness, it deserves to be pampered with such appearance editions, considering it is the German automaker’s flagship race car. Audi is offering it in six different exterior shades, each one looking better than the other. There are no changes made to the cabin or the drivetrain, but you can't expect much with a premium price increase of just $13,000.

All The Six Colors Looks Sexy

These are the six shades that Audi is offering on the R8 LMS GT2:

-* Kyalami Green

-* Misano Red

-* Nogaro Blue

-* Sebring Black

-* Tactical Green

-* Vegas Yellow

Irrespective of the color you choose, the top half comes painted in black. Apart from this, even the other components like the wings and the wheels have a common shade regardless of the body color. The black wing and the gunmetal-copper shade wheels look hot on all six colors.

What Powers The Audi R8 LMS GT2?

The R8 LMS GT2 is touted as the most powerful Audi Sport product ever. It is powered by a V-10 engine that displaces 5.2 liters. You’d expect it to come with the company’s famed Quattro all-wheel-drive system, but power here is routed to the rear wheels only via a seven-speed S Tronic dual-clutch automatic gearbox. It takes under four seconds to sprint to 60 mph from rest and has a top speed of 170 mph.

What Else Is Special About The Audi R8 LMS GT2?

The R8 LMS GT2 looks wild. It is based on an aluminum CFRP composite chassis and features CFRP body panels. It comes with huge air inlets all around the body. There is a massive inlet up front and there are some on the scoop. These work in tandem as the hood scoop helps the air flow past the windshield thus eliminating wind resistance to a huge extent. It belongs to the same flock as the R8 GT3 and the GT4, but looks much different.

There are some Spyder characteristics here, too, such as the sideblades. The rear diffuser comes with two large openings that sit right behind the fat tires and below the mesh grille the runs horizontally across the body. As for the cabin, it only comes with stuff that the driver needs and nothing beyond it.

How Much Does It Cost?

Audi has priced the R8 LMS GT2 Color Edition at €349,000 before the local taxes and optional goodies. This translates to roughly $419,500 as per the exchange rates at the time of penning this article. This is €11,000 – or approximately $13,200 – more than the standard R8 LMS GT2.
