ABT’s love for Audi continues, and this time, the result is a quicker and more powerful RS4 Avant. Called the RS4-S, the German wagon has been given some steroids and additional equipment by the Kempten-based aftermarket tuner.

Apart from the power boost, the RS4 also comes with an ABT exhaust system, carbon fiber elements, new wheels, and so on. Is this one of the best aftermarket RS4s we’ve seen in recent times?

What’s Special About The RS4-S by ABT?

In stock form, the Audi RS4 Avant comes packed with a 2.9-liter, twin-turbo V-6 engine that churns out 444 horses and 443 pound-feet of torque. Power is sent to all the wheels – courtesy of the Quattro system – via an eight-speed automatic gearbox. The wagon takes merely 4.1 seconds to sprint to 60 mph and has a top speed of 155 mph.

The company says that this is made possible by the high-tech control unit ABT Engine Control and a special air intake cover. Thanks to the power boost, the wagon is now 0.2 seconds quicker to the 60 mph mark. If this all seems lackluster to you, you can opt for the ABT Power S performance upgrade that further pushes the limit to make 530 horses and 501 pound-feet of torque. You can also choose for an optional V-Max upgrade that unlocks a top speed of 186 mph.

What Other Upgrades Does ABT Offer?

Apart from the increase in power output, ABT has also equipped the RS4-S with some additional equipment. The car comes with a new exhaust system with a better grunt that includes four 102 mm carbon fiber end pipes. It even rides on new 21-inch ABT SPORT GR wheels finished in glossy black.

To make sure the wagon remains stable and carves corners with ease, ABT has even installed height-adjustable suspension springs and anti-roll bars on the front and rear axles. You can also opt for the ABT Coilover Suspension for extra moolah. Other than this, ABT has equipped the RS4-S with:

-* Carbon gloss ABT front lip add-on

-* Red RS4-S logo

-* Front blades and wheelhouse ventilation with real carbon fins

-* Carbon fiber reinforced polymer rear spoiler and rear skirt insert

On the inside, the aftermarket company has equipped RS4-S logos on the seats, door sills, as well as floor mats. There’s an emblem badge, too, that graces the cabin. You can also choose to opt for carbon fiber for the seat shells, seat frame covers, and dashboard covers for an additional amount. Furthermore, the RS4-S can be had with a leather steering wheel with carbon upgrades, ABT shift-knob cover, and a start-stop switch cap.

How Much Does It Cost?

In the U.K., the Audi RS4 Avant starts from £63,005, which is approximately $74,100 as per the exchange rates at the time of writing. ABT has priced its base package at €31,900, which is approximately $37,500. The Power S performance upgrade is priced at €4,133.11, which is approximately $4,900. The other additional stuff is priced at:

-* ABT height adjustable suspension - €1,403.69

-* ABT steering wheel (carbon / leather upgrade) - €1,744.87

-* ABT dashboard covers (carbon gloss) - €965.04

-* ABT seat frame covers (carbon gloss) - €1,160

-* ABT seat shell (carbon gloss) - €3,499.50

Final Thoughts

Although the package looks tempting, the price and the donor car together put it dangerously close to the RS6 Avant, which is a better-accomplished product and offers better bang for the buck. In the States, the RS6 Avant is powered by a 4.0-liter, twin-turbo V-8 engine that makes 591 ponies and 590 pound-feet of torque. The mill is also equipped with a 48-volt mild hybrid system. Power is sent to the wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission. It features a Sport Exhaust system, the robust grunt of which can be adjusted using the Audi drive select system. And, the biggest highlight – 0-60 mph in 3.5 seconds. The Audi RS6 Avant in the U.S. starts at $109,000. Unfortunately, the RS4 Avant hasn’t arrived here, but it could in a few years, perhaps.

If you had to pick one of these beasts – the stock Audi RS6 Avant or the Audi RS4-S Avant by ABT – which one would it be? Share your thoughts with us in the comments section below.
