Leave it to Forza 4 to give us even more reason to love this game. Fresh off of releasing a new downloadable content just a week ago, Turn 10 Studios has announced that another pack will be released on February 7th, one that includes past and present ALMS race cars.
The pack, deliberately called the "American Le Mans Series Pack," will include some of the finest ALMS machines we’ve ever seen, including the legendary 1991 Mazda 787B, the Platinum Motorsport Bentley Continental GT, the 1992 Alfa Romeo 155 Q4, the 1995 Ford Mustang Cobra R, and yes, even last year’s title-winning race car, the Audi R18 TDI.
Just like the February Launch Bonus Pack, the ALMS Pack will come with a total of ten cars, and will cost you 560 Microsoft Points when it hits Xbox Live next week.
We don’t need to remind you that this is one pack that you shouldn’t miss. But just to be sure, we’re here to say that THIS IS ONE PACK THAT YOU SHOULDN’T MISS!
Glad we got that straightened out.
To those who own a Playstation 3, you can stop reading now. This doesn’t concern you; unless after reading it, you decide to run to your nearest Best Buy and pick up an XBox 360 and a Forza 3 video game to start practicing.
What’s all the fuss, you ask? Well, in celebrating the upcoming 24 Hours of Le Mans in France - the 24-hour race will be held on June 12 to 13, in case you didn’t know - Audi of America and Xbox/Turn10 will once again host the 2nd Annual AXF-24 Challenge at the Audi Forum in New York City on June 12, from 1pm to 5pm.
The four-hour XBox Live Forza Motorsport challenge will be the culmination of a North American-wide Forza 3 challenge where players on Xbox Live competed for the fastest lap times on the Circuit de la Sarthe while driving the 2009 Audi#2 Audi Sport Team Joest R15 TDI. Of all the participants, the three drivers with the top three fastest times will be given an opportunity to strut their skills in the AXF-24 Challenge on June 12, right at the same time the actual Le Mans race is taking place in France.
As for what’s at stake, how about a 1-day Audi R8 sports car experience package? You read that right. The winner gets an opportunity to spend one whole day with an Audi R8 at the Infineon Raceway in Sonoma, California. Game on, indeed!
Press Release after the jump
We’ve been talking about Gran Turismo 5, Forza 3 and Need for Speed SHIFT so much we kind of feel bad that we’ve left other racing games out to dry.
In the midst of the hoopla surrounding the three aforementioned games, one game we haven’t gone on record as worth playing is Vertical Run, a racing game you can find in Sony’s Playstation Home community. The game is the first to be developed by ‘Audi Space’, which, if you don’t know, is Audi’s new virtual community inside the Playstation Home.
While it’s not in the class of GT5 or Forza 3, Vertical Run is a pretty fun game to play, especially if you’re the type who considers yourself a card-carrying member of the Wipeout franchise. The objective is pretty simple enough: all you need to do is win a race while zooming past a vertical course – hence, the name Vertical Run – while gathering the most electrical energy in the process. Simple enough, right?
The game becomes all the more exciting because of the presence of one car, the Audi E-Tron concept, which we first saw at the recently-concluded Frankfurt Motor Show. We don’t know whether or not the actual Audi e-tron concept actually makes it to production, so this may be the only chance we’ll ever get to see the car in a racing situation.
It looks like Audi found the best way to present its new Audi A4, by creating the first application for the iPhone. The new application called "A4 Challenge” is supported by a Audi A4 iPhone experience website and represents a driving game which can be played with the help of the motion sensors found on the iPhone.
The breakdown: the motion sensors are used in order to steer the virtual 2009 A4, which means moving the phone is the steering, while the acceleration and braking are done using the touch screen. Audi of America’s, Scott Keogh said, “The iPhone is an ideal platform to help introduce the entirely new Audi A4 to the public”.
