Audi Grandsphere Concept - A Luxurious EV That’s A ’Private Jet For The Roads’
Audi’s onslaught in the EV segment continues. Less than a month after debuting the convertible two-seater Skysphere concept, the automaker has now unveiled another concept; this time a four-door concept called the Grandsphere. The concept comes with interesting specs like a dual motor setup, 711 horses and 708 pound-feet of torque, 0-62 mph in just over four seconds, etc. The stretched model which Audi calls “private jet for the roads” is surprisingly even longer than some Ford F-150 models! Seems like an interesting product, doesn’t it?
2021 Audi Skysphere Concept - A Transformer That Can Change Shape On The Fly
Concept cars come in a variety of shapes and sizes. The Skysphere Concept, which Audi has now digitally unveiled, is unique in more ways than one. It is a massive autonomous open two-seater GT car, that can drive itself.
However, the biggest highlight of this long electric roadster with a soft-top is its ability to change its dimensions on the fly by 9.8 inches. Yes, you heard that right, at the push of a button, the 16-feet long GT extends its length and gets even longer to 17-feet.
2021 Audi A6 E-Tron Concept
Audi is arguably the most active automaker that’s electrifying its lineup. Barely a few days after debuting the Q4 e-tron SUV and Sportback, the German automaker has now given us a preview of the A6 e-tron, the electric version of the luxury namesake sedan. Teased at the 2021 Auto Shanghai, the A6 e-tron concept showcases what to expect from the production version of the EV and also goes on to show that Audi is not getting rid of sedans anytime soon.
2022 Audi Q4 e-tron
Audi has jumped into one of the most popular segments today with two new electric offerings, the Q4 e-tron and the Q4 Sportback e-tron. These compact SUVs could be a game-changer for Audi and bring in huge volumes once launched. Both of them are essentially the same vehicle other than the sloping roofline on the Sportback, which seems to be quite a popular option these days. For now, the company has revealed the Euro-spec models and trim details, but we can expect pretty much the same stuff Stateside, too.
2022 Audi Q4 Sportback E-Tron
Audi is one of the most proactive brands in the electric market today. The company has added two more models based on the Q4 in its e-tron lineup today – the Q4 e-tron and the Q4 Sportback e-tron. Sportbacks seem to be big sellers for automakers these days and this has prompted the German automaker to come up with the sloping roofline version as well as the conventional SUV body style for its Q4-based e-tron.
Both the models have the same specs and features. The biggest differentiating factors are the shape at the rear and the pricing. With stuff like 300+ mile-range, dual-motor setup on offer, and many tech features, can the Q4 e-tron twins bring huge sales volumes for the company?
2020 Audi Q4 Sportback E-Tron Concept
Audi is arguably the most active brand today when it comes to EVs. The company had announced a bold claim that it will launch 20 new EVs by 2025, and surprisingly, it seems to be on track.
The German automaker has added yet another vehicle to its EV portfolio, the Q4 Sportback e-tron, which happens to be its seventh fully electric vehicle. The company revealed the concept version for now and the real deal is expected to go on sale sometime in 2021.

The Volkswagen Group has made some phenomenal strides in recent times. From being caught in Dieselgate a few years back to running a few of the most proactive brands in electrification today, the German group has come a long way. One of its most prominent brands, Audi, also has a few electric models in the works. The automaker’s next electric vehicle will be the Q4 e-tron, which was previewed at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show.
Audi recently revealed that the SUV will launch at the end of 2020 and is set to go on sale in 2021. Although it might be the brand’s fifth EV, there are a lot of eyes on it since it will be the first four-ringed electric vehicle to be pinned on Volkswagen’s MEB architecture. It was recently spotted performing cold-weather tests in Northern Sweden.

2019 Audi AI:ME Concept
Audi revealed the AI:me concept at the 2019 Shanghai Auto Show, and it clearly gives a preview of what our future will look like. Audi has been on an electric vehicle onslaught, and this concept shows one of the many facets that the company is capable of. Audi’s creation prior to the AI:me, the Q4 e-tron EV, looks like it could be ’production-ized’ soon. But with the AI:me, Audi aims to show what an urban, electric autonomous car could look like in a couple of decades from now.
2018 Audi e-Tron GT Concept
Audi is as committed as anybody to an EV future, and the unveiling of the e-Tron GT Concept at the 2018 L.A. Auto Show further illustrates the desire of the German automaker to have an EV for everyone. The e-Tron GT will be the car for those who love to go fast in a 4-door coupe body. Its stablemate, the Taycan, as well as Tesla’s Model S, are clear targets.
Recently, Federal Minister of Economic Affairs and Energy Peter Altmaier criticized German automakers for making boring-looking electric cars. "I really wonder when you, Mr. Zetsche, or you, Mr. Diess, or Mr. Krüger of BMW will be able to build an electric car that is only half as sexy as one Tesla," he said in his sharp remark. As if trying to prove the government official wrong, Audi unexpectedly showed up in L.A. with the e-Tron GT concept that’s, well, stunning from every angle. And before you start yammering about how concept cars change down the path to production, Audi says this concept shows the almost production-ready model that will hit showrooms in 2020 for the 2021 model year.
Audi wants to have a fleet of 12 electric cars by 2025, and this will be its flagship. What it is, in short, is a shorter, more aggressive, A7. It will share the platform with Porsche’s Taycan, but the two manufacturers are coy to point out the similarities between the two models. Oh, and Robert Downey Jr. wasn’t a random VIP guest at the launch of the e-Tron GT, as the car will star in the upcoming Avengers 4 movie. If the car will look this good in production guise, then all the hype Audi’s building is worth it.

2019 Audi E-tron Quattro
The E-tron Quattro is Audi’s first-ever all-electric SUV. It was previewed by a similar concept car back in 2015 and made its debut as a production model in 2018. Developed as a competitor for the Tesla Model X, the E-tron Quattro joins Audi’s existing range of hybrid models that also use an "e-tron" badge.
Smaller than the Q7 but notably bigger than the Q5, the E-tron created its very own niche in the Audi lineup. It’s not big enough to offer full-size capability, but it’s not too cramped either. At the same time, it’s the perfect compromise for urban driving, as it’s not as difficult to park as the company’s range-topping SUV. The big question is, does it have what it takes to give the Tesla Model X a run for its money? Audi has yet to unveil all essential information, which makes predictions difficult, but we still know enough to paint a fair picture. Find out more in the review below.

2018 Audi PB18 e-tron Concept
In a world where the term “concept car” has been overused to some extent, Audi jolted some life back to the phrase with the PB18 e-Tron Concept. The fascinating prototype made its debut at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, blending form with a number of functions, packaged in a dynamic design that’s unlike anything we’ve ever seen from Audi. Best of all, at least for snobs of the autonomous technology movement, the PB18 e-Tron Concept gives the driver full control of the vehicle with no hints of autonomous tech assistance.
2017 Audi Elaine
With Audi introducing cars like the Audi Aicon, it’s pretty easy to assume that in the near future we’ll find ourselves without even having the option to take the wheel and drive on our own. Then again, with the sheer number of traffic-related fatalities each year, one could really question if we should be allowed to the freedom to drive anyway, but we’ll leave that conversation for another time. Instead, let’s look at the future of sports cars, better known as the Audi Elaine – an all-electric sports car that can drive itself but also has a wheel and pedals for guys like me who like to really get into those corners from time to time. What we’re talking about here is a muscular “SUV Coupe” that sits somewhere close to the Audi A7 in the lineup and features an all-electric drive that’s good for a 4.5-second sprint to 62 mph, a range of at least 300 miles, and it even features autonomous technology with cutting-edge processing power and comfort.
When you combine this vehicle’s capabilities along with Audi Ai, and Audi Ai Zone, you get the best of both worlds. You’ll be able to drive yourself when you wish, let the AI take over on a whim, and even get door-to-door service thanks to the car’s ability to find a parking garage or place on the street to park itself. Audi envisions a time when the car will be able to drive itself to an advanced parking garage where it can charge itself, pick up packages, and even get a good washing before finding a place to rest. At 5 O’clock when it’s time to get out of work, you’ll walk out the doors and find your Elaine waiting to take you home. Suddenly, the future doesn’t seem so bad, does it? Well, let’s take a better look at the Elaine and see what the car is all about.

2017 Audi Aicon
With the internal combustion engine living on borrowed time and fully autonomous cars on the horizon, we’re starting to see more and more futuristic concept cars that focus more on what cars of the future will be like than what we can expect to see in the next five or six years. Audi has really jumped on that wagon, and at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show, it debuted the Audi Aicon – a vehicle that looks to the days of self-driving electric mobility with absolutely no compromises. As a 2+2 sedan, the Aicon has an attractive silhouette and a roomy interior. Comfort is of the utmost importance, and you’ll find that the interior is void of the usual necessities like a steering wheel or pedals and buttons. As an all-electric vehicle, it boasts four electric motors and a battery pack that should be good for nearly 500 miles of non-stop driving. And, not that it matters in a car that you can’t drive, but system output is rated at nearly 350 horsepower and more than 400 pound-feet of torque. Not bad.
With this in mind, and as attractive as this concept is, we’re still a long way out from Level 5 autonomy. The world just isn’t ready for a car of this nature quite yet (look at all the idiots that abused the functionality of Tesla’s AutoPilot in the early years) so don’t expect to see this thing shift into production anytime soon. It may someday, but I wouldn’t expect to see it before 2025 or 2030 at that earliest. Be that as it may, this concept is a very cool design study and a look at the future of the automotive industry, so let’s take a good look at it and see what all we can expect in our not-so-distant future.

2020 Audi A9 E-tron
Rumors that Audi is planning to launch an A9 model have been flying around for quite a few years now. Come 2016 and the German brand has confirmed that a brand-new model to use this nameplate is indeed underway and will hit the market by 2020. However, while the plans were to create the A9 as a larger,
styled four-door, Audi decided to go with an electric sedan that would compete against the popular Tesla Model S.
Set to be introduced "as high up as possible in the A8 segment," the upcoming A9 was previewed by the E-tron Quattro concept at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show. It is believed that the exterior design will be similar, while motivation will be provided by an evolution of the concept car’s drivetrain. The A9 E-tron will also share technology with the upcoming Q6 E-tron SUV.
Both vehicles are part of Audi’s recent strategy to increase the number of electric vehicles in its lineup. The company wants to have three EVs by 2020, which it will achieve with the A3, A9, and Q6 E-trons, and extend it to 25 percent of its lineup by 2025. Most details as to what the new A9 E-tron will bring to the market are not yet available, but we have the E-Tron Quattro concept to look at for certain hints. Audi has teased the idea of an electric version of its R8 supercar on more than one occasion. First we had the e-tron concept at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2009, which then made a debut at the 2010 Detroit Auto Show. Audi even went as far as to put its creation around the Nürburgring for a record-setting 8:09.099 minute lap time. Now, finally, it looks like the R8 e-tron is set to make it to showrooms worldwide.
The big news comes straight from the 2015 Geneva Motor Show, where Audi showcased an all-electric supercar alongside the redesigned, second-generation R8. At first glance, the e-tron model is an R8 with the stock V-10 drivetrain swapped out for a pair of electric motors and their associated batteries, but this German-built EV with supercar credentials is more than that. And with zero emissions emanating from a non-existent tailpipe, the R8 e-tron represents a big step forward for green racing tech.
As expected, the R8 e-tron is one of the quickest EVs out there. What’s surprising though is that it can perform extremely well in the range department. How well, you may ask? Let’s say that the Tesla Model S needs a small range update next time Elon Musk rolls out a new upgrade. But you’re going to have to check out the review below for more info on that.
Updated 10/27/2015: While Audi already dropped official details on the R8 E-tron, this is the first time the new car was caught in action at the Nurbrugring race track. You have to admit that its blue exterior color looks stunning, and that orange light around the “sideblades” is also a nice detail.

Audi has been hard at work fleshing out its crossover lineup, and who can blame it, considering how hot that segment is right now. We already know that the 2016 Audi Q1 is on the way, the 2016 Q7 has just received a full makeover, and a sub-Q1 Junior crossover is rumored to be on the way. Now, according to an image that Audi released and a report from Autocar, Audi is set to launch a Tesla Model X-fighting Q6 e-tron in the coming years.
This report comes from a press conference held by Audi’s research and development boss, Ulrich Hackenberg, who outlined the basic details surrounding the upcoming electric crossover. Unfortunately, Hackenberg didn’t dive too deep into the new model, but he did give us enough information to do a little speculating with.
So do I think that the Q6 e-tron will be able to hang with the now-delayed Model X?
Updated 10/14/2015: A new report indicates that the Q6 e-tron electric SUV will be built at the company’s Brussels plant starting in 2018. Its design will be based on the e-tron quattro concept we’ve seen earlier this year. Built as a competitor for the Tesla Model X, Audi hopes to squeeze a total range of 500 kilometers (310 miles) out of it.

Audi’s E-Tron moniker has a brand new member. Meet the E-Tron Quattro Concept. This all-electric SUV is the spiritual brother to the 2010 Audi E-Tron concept that debuted in 2010, and combined the latest technologies that make all-electric vehicles more of a consumer good than science project.
Of course automakers like Tesla and Nissan already have fully electric vehicles on the market. In fact, Tesla’s upcoming 2016 Tesla Model X will be a hardy rival to Audi’s E-Tron Quattro. However, the Model X will likely arrive before the E-Tron Quattro, which Audi promises in “early 2018.”
Rivalry aside, this concept is a solid look into what the future holds for Audi, both in terms of design and electronics. The sculpted exterior has hints of Audi’s current design themes with a generous portion of new flair sprinkled in. Powertrain wise, the E-Tron Quattro packs three electric motors – one up front and two in back – to move the low-slung SUV to 62 mph in a projected 4.6 seconds and onto a governed top speed of 130.5 mph.
Besides offering surprising performance, the E-Tron Quattro is filled to the brim with futuristic tech, including its charging system. There is a Combined Charging System that handles DC and AC current, a wireless induction system, and a solar panel system built onto the roof. If you’re lucky enough to find a 150-kW DC fast charger, the Audi’s battery pack can be recharged in roughly 50 minutes.

Earlier this year, Audi released the revamped 2016 R8 R8 e-tron, and at the 2015 CES Asia show, it released a self-driving version of the electric supercar dubbed the R8 e-tron Piloted Driving Concept.
One of the biggest concerns among gearheads when it comes to self-driving cars is that the fun of driving will be taken away. Well, when it comes to this insane concept supercar, there is plenty of fun to go around, thanks to its sub-four-second 0-to-60 time and agility. What’s more, its range rivals the likes of the Tesla Model S, and it looks cooler.
Unfortunately, this is just a concept car for now, but at the rate Audi is putting out these piloted concept models (read our reviews of the RS7 piloted driving concept here and the Prologue piloted driving concept here), it seems like this tech is on the verge of making it to showrooms.
