2021 Audi Q8 TFSI E Quattro (Hybrid)
Call it what you will but to our eyes, the Audi Q8 is a neatly executed example of what a “SUV-coupe” must look like. That or our brain has been bombarded with some many iterations of this car body style that we’ve learned to live with it.
In any case, Audi is not about superficiality and that’s why the Q8 can now be ordered with a new powertrain. A plug-in hybrid one, to be more precise, featuring a larger battery pack and two system outputs.
2020 Audi RSQ8-R By ABT
Kempten-based aftermarket tuner, ABT Sportsline, is known for its tune-ups for Audi vehicles. It has worked on the Avant series, the All road series, and even various Audi SUVs. Now, it has selected the German automaker’s flagship SUV, the RS Q8, and given it some steroids. It’s called the RSQ8-R and is a limited-edition to commemorate its 125th birthday in 2021. This edition will churn out 740 horses and will have a top speed of 195 mph! Now, that’s a grand way to celebrate a birthday.
2020 Audi Q7
The 2020 Audi Q7 is the facelifted version of the second-generation midsize SUV. It’s an update to the hauler that Audi launched in 2015, and although it’s not a major overhaul on the outside, it features a heavily updated interior and new engines. It also comes with new driving assist features, mostly seen on recent redesigns, and more luxury options. As usual, it’s available with both gasoline and diesel powertrains, but the oil burners aren’t offered in the United States. Let’s find out more about the premium German SUV in the review.
2020 Audi RS Q8 by ABT Sportsline
The Audi RS Q8, without any doubt whatsoever, is a downright technological marvel. What Audi managed to extract from this hunchback SUV in terms of performance and practicality is worthy of all praise.
The RS Q8 packs a 4.0-liter V-8, two-axle steering, 10-piston brake calipers that bite into ceramic rotors, optional 23-inch wheels, and a mean electromechanical active roll stabilization system that makes the 5,103-pound mammoth drive like it’s on rails. Most of us couldn’t simply ask more from the souped-up SUV. Most of us, however, aren’t ABT Sportsline.
2020 Audi RS6 Avant by ABT
Audi’s RS-badged models, especially of the Avant ilk (read wagon), have mesmerized petrolheads ever since the RS2 came in 1992, which was in equal measures an Audi and a Porsche. The engine was Porsche, just like the tweaked gearbox, brakes, and wheels.
Fast-forward to 2020 and the RS-badged lineup has extended to include the RS 4, RS 7, and even the RS Q8 SUV.
2019 Audi SQ8 by ABT Sportsline
The Audi SQ8 isn’t the most violent version of Audi’s Q8 SUV lineup. That spot is reserved for the RS Q8. But the SQ8 TDI is potent enough in its own way, and when you get the involvement of noted Audi tuner ABT Sportsline, the result is a face-mashing performance SUV that produces enough torque to make the range-topping RS Q8 feel redundant. The German tuner’s new program for the SQ8 SUV is a masterclass in the art of tuning upgrades. It comes with subtle but important exterior and interior upgrades that complement the power and performance gains that also come with the whole package. The tuning kit is specced specifically for the SQ8 TDI so if that’s your thing, you shouldn’t miss out on this program. If you prefer the gas-powered version that lacks the low revs and fake exhausts, you might as well just wait for the Audi RS Q8 to arrive towards the end of the year. Either way, it’s a can’t-lose proposition.
2019 Audi Q8 by Lumma Design aka Lumma CLR 8S
LUMMA may not be as popular as ABT, Brabus, or AC Schnitzer, but this German tuning house sure knows how to grab attention. The LUMMA Design team has laid its hands on arguably the most premium-feel SUV available on the market today, the Audi Q8, and has gone berserk with it. The bold exterior design that the team has given to this rather smart-looking SUV will definitely draw polarizing opinions. Under the CLR 8S moniker, LUMMA has recreated this flagship SUV from the ‘Lord of the Rings’ in a way that is making it difficult for us to comprehend. Do we like it? Definitely not. Do we hate it? Well, let’s talk about that.
2019 Audi RS9 Coupe
While it currently competes with BMW and Mercedes-Benz for supremacy on the premium market, Audi was nowhere near as fancy as a brand some three decades ago. But the Ingolstadt-based firm evolved quite dramatically in the 1990s and 2000s, and it’s now selling a handful of highly appreciated premium vehicles, including the A4, A6, A8, and Q7. However, while Audi joined several new niches in recent years, it still doesn’t have a competitor for the relatively new Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe. But this will change soon, as Audi is already working on the A9, a two-door version of the new A8 and its largest, most luxurious coupe yet. Alongisde the A9, Audi is also rumored to have an RS9 model in the works. The latter will compete against the Mercedes-AMG S63 and the recently confirmed BMW M8.
There’s no official word as to when the A9 will arrive, but it will be heavily based on the Prologue Concept that Audi launched back in 2014. The show car has already inspired the design of the new A8, but its coupe configuration might make it into production with very few changes. As with all RS-badged models, the RS9 will be a beefed-up version of the A9, with revised aerodynamics, bespoke features inside, and a more powerful engine under the hood. The RS9 will enable Audi to compete in the still fresh performance, luxury coupe market that will soon include both Mercedes-Benz and BMW, Ingolstadt’s most important rivals. 2018 Audi RS8
Enthusiasts have been clamoring for a high-performance version of the A8 ever since Audi started making RS-badged cars in the 1990s. But they’ve been out of luck until now. Although Audi did introduce the S8 as early as 1996 and made a version for each generation until now, it has yet to launch a proper RS8 model. And that’s a pretty big issue with the potent AMG S63 and S65 up for grabs and a BMW M7 reportedly under way. With a brand-new Audi A8 to talk about, the first-ever RS8 feels closer than ever.
And it should be! Given the current market trends and the way deep-pocketed customers are empying their bank accounts to take high-performance, luxury sedans home, the RS8 is quite the urgent matter. It would be a big mistake to pass on the opportunity, especially with the new A8 having all the cool features and technology on top of a sporty, yet elegant design. The absence of an RS model in the fourth-generation A8 lineup would widen the gap between Audi and its competitors even further, and it’s safe to assume that Ingolstadt is tired of trailing behind Mercedes-Benz and BMW. 2018 Audi A8
While the Audi A8 has always seemed to wear an understated tuxedo with its sleek looks and undeniable style, the third-generation model has been in circulation for the last seven years. It’s one of the last few models to still sport Audi’s tall, square grille and it’s time for a serious revamp. So, it was no surprise when we started seeing prototypes hitting the streets and the Nürburgring, and now – after a quick peak at the Spider-Man: Homecoming premiere, Audi has laid it all out on the table. As is the usual case with Audi, overall design changes are somewhat minimal, but it does get the new, wide grille, a pair of sexy headlight units, and repositioned body lines that make it even more appealing than ever before. Inside, there’s a completely redesigned dashboard with new technology, updated user interface controls, and it finally gets Audi’s new piloted driving system which allows remote parking and semi-autonomous driving in highway traffic. To go along with this, the A8 gets a revises suspension system that includes all-wheel steering and active suspension. Topping off the new generation is a pair of reengineered, turbocharged V-6 engines that will eventually be joined by a pair of V-8 powerplants and a 6.0-liter W-12 for the range-topping model.
So, with all that in mind, one can’t help but wonder how the new A8 will stand up against the new Mercedes S-Class and the new BMW 7 Series. It’s obviously going to be a tough call as to which is better, but Audi is coming to the party prepared to throw down. So, let’s dive on in and take a better look at the new Audi A8 – there are lots of details to cover.
2017 Audi A7
Introduced in 2010 as a competitor for the Mercedes-Benz CLS, the A7 was a significant departure from Audi’s usual lineup. Essentially an A6 with a fastback-like roof and a
type tailgate, the A7 was Audi’s first liftback model since the 1970s. Praised for its appealing design and comprehensive engine lineup, which also included the V-8-powered S7 and RS7 models, the A7 became pretty popular in its niche, forcing BMW to launch its very own four-door coupe — the 6 Series Gran Coupe. Updated twice since its introduction, the A7 has received yet another upgrade for the 2017 model year.
Arguably the only luxury model to have gained no fewer than three facelifts in only six years, the A7 carries over into 2017 with new exterior paints, new wheels, and extra interior features. Styling-wise, the A7 remains unchanged, but that’s far from being an issue given that the exterior was updated in 2014.
