BMW Quietly Releases the New X4 SUV

BMW Quietly Releases the New X4 SUV

An X3 with a coupe-style roof

It’s been only four years since BMW introduced the X4 and the coupe-style SUV was redesigned from the ground up. Unveiled without much fuss today, it will make its public debut at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show in March.

So what’s with the rush? It might seem awkward at first glance, but it probably has to do with the fact that the previous X4 was released three years after the X3 which it was based on arrived. With a brand-new X3 launched in 2017, BMW probably wants the X4 to be on par with its sibling. On the other hand, it’s really awkward that BMW kept these plans hidden and unveiled the X4 without the usual teasers and marketing campaign.

Be that as it may, let’s have a closer look at the changes.

Mercedes May Withdraw from the 2019 Detroit Auto Show

It’s not all that surprising if you think about it how many automakers have made similar moves

There once was a time when automakers tripped over themselves trying to secure price placement at an event as big as the Detroit Auto Show. But those days are gone. Companies like Porsche, Volvo, Mazda, and Jaguar have basically thrown the white flag on returning to the Motor City’s annual auto show. Now, it’s looking like you can add Mercedes-Benz to that list. According to reports, the German automaker is seriously considering pulling out of the 2019 Detroit Auto Show as it tries to seek new — and better — avenues to spend its marketing budget.

2018 Chicago Auto Show – Worst In Show

The debuts that left us feeling out in the cold

Truth be told, this year’s Chicago Auto Show brought out a lot of good stuff. We even cataloged the best of the best right here in a convenient list format, just in case you wanted to see what we’re on about. But, given CAS’s positioning between the Detroit Auto Show and Geneva Motor Show, events considered to be two of the most important auto shows in the domestic and international markets respectively, there’s always bound to be a few throwaway debuts in Chi Town. And that’s exactly what we saw in 2018, where the big makes brought out disappointments that included an update which was basically a rehash, plus a pair of yawn-worthy new crossover trim levels. Hell, there was even an entire booth that had us scratching our heads as to why it was there. So put on your troll face and click on as we explore the worst in show at CAS 2018.

Volkswagen Teases New Touareg; Looks Like a Boxier Porsche Cayenne

Volkswagen Teases New Touareg; Looks Like a Boxier Porsche Cayenne

Will break cover in China next month

After eight years on the market, the second-generation Touareg is being prepared for retirement. The third-gen SUV, spotted testing on public roads multiple times in the past, will make its public debut in Beijing, China, on March 23. Yes, I’m also asking myself why VW isn’t unveiling it at the Geneva Motor Show next month, but the German automaker could have more important plans in Switzerland. What’s more, the Touareg is very popular in China, the world’s biggest vehicle market. Volkswagen also released a teaser sketch of the upcoming Toureg, which looks a lot like the current Porsche Cayenne, but with a slightly boxier design. Or somewhere between the Cayenne and the Audi Q7. Big surprise, huh?

The Volkswagen Arteon has a Bigger Trunk than the CC and a Full-Sized Spare!

The Volkswagen Arteon has a Bigger Trunk than the CC and a Full-Sized Spare!

More room than the Mercedes CLS too!

Unveiled at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show, the Volkswagen Arteon arrived to replace the CC, a sportier-looking, coupe-style version of the all-popular Passat. A big hit when it was introduced in 2008, the CC lost its appeal after only a few years, and it became one of the company’s slowest selling vehicles. A significant departure from its predecessor, the Arteon will fix that and likely give Volkswagen a better shot at the premium market. Launched in the U.S. at the 2018 Chicago Auto Show, the Arteon is not only the more appealing car on the outside, but it’s also more practical.

Tuscany Brings Two Modified Ford F-150s to 2018 Chicago Auto Show

Tuscany Brings Two Modified Ford F-150s to 2018 Chicago Auto Show

Trucks include Shelby name with upgraded power

Ford didn’t limit itself to regular production vehicles at the 2018 Chicago Auto Show. Rather, it invited Tuscany to participate in the fun. Tuscany is an independent aftermarket coachbuilder that contracts with Ford to upgrade trucks with special packages and performance modifications before selling them at Ford dealerships and covered under Ford’s new-vehicle warranty.

Well, Tuscany brought two Shelby-branded trucks to the show – both of which are lifted 4WD modes, but with very different personalities.
