The pocket-rocket seems to have gotten better in every single department!

The Briggs Automotive Company, or popularly known as BAC, has been in existence for just over a decade. Its first and only car to date, the Mono, was born in 2011. Since then, the car hasn’t gone through much of a change. The single-seater seems to be designed as a track car and then toned down in each department to make it road legal.

Since its inception, the Mono has more or less remained the same; but BAC was looking to bring out the second-gen 2021 Mono at this year’s Geneva Motor Show. As luck would have it, the show itself got canceled, but the company decided to launch it anyway. Does it get any better than the previous-gen Mono?

Although there is an increase in power figures, the new Mono is improved on the aerodynamics front so it feels even more agile. The front fascia resembles the Pagani Zonda R with that wide mouth, round headlights, and stuck-out wing mirrors. The car is also lowered to make it look slicker and faster. The rear looks sexy with those exposed elements and fat tires with the closely-knit wheel arches. The wheels are wrapped in standard Pirelli Trofeo R performance tires that stick to the road like a leech.

The 2021 BAC Mono is powered by the same Mountune-developed 2.3-liter, four-cylinder engine that makes 332 horses and 295 pound-feet of torque.

This is an increase of 27 horses and 66 pound-of torque over the outgoing model. The engine coupled with a curb weight of just 1,257 pounds helps propel the car to 60 mph from a standstill in 2.7 seconds. Top speed is rated at 170 mph. The car is based on a new iteration of BAC’s traditional steel space frame chassis. BAC has also used graphene-enhanced carbon fiber panels that have further helped in a 22-pound weight reduction.

BAC Has Improved Its Handling and Stability

The Mono is about an inch longer than its predecessor and sits 0.8 inches closer to the ground.

BAC even managed to achieve an almost even weight distribution system by placing the fuel tank a little lower and moving the battery to the center. This resulted in a lower center of gravity and better performance on the road. The existing Ohlins Suspension system is modified a little to stay stable under hard braking, acceleration, and cornering.

The new aluminum-carbon fiber wheels are also designed to reduce weight through a generative design process with the help of Autodesk. Thanks to this, BAC was able to reduce the weight of each wheel by 35-percent. Each wheel now weighs merely 4.85 pounds.

How Much Will It Cost?
