The Bentayga arrived in 2015 as Bentley's first-ever SUV. It's also the most expensive and luxurious, factory-built SUV in the world as of 2016, as well as the quickest to 60 mph and the fastest in terms of top speed thanks to its 600-horsepower W-12 engine. The hauler is also packed with Bentley's latest convenience features and the finest leather and wood trim available on the market. Finally, it's also Bentley's most customizable vehicle to date.

All told, until the Rolls-Royce Cullinan and the Mercedes-Maybach GLS hit the streets at the turn of the decade, the Bentley Bentayga will remain the fanciest SUV out there. But, despite the head start, Bentley isn't resting on its laurels and is already selling special-edition models based on the Bentayga - one of them being the Fly Fishing by Mulliner.

Described as the "ultimate angling accessory," the Mulliner-built SUV is a modern interpretation of the shooting brake. But, instead of carrying shooting parties at hunting events, the Fly Fishing provides fishermen with all the equipment required to catch fish. In short, the SUV comes with a bespoke trunk that houses anything from rods and nets to a master tackle station and a wader-stowage trunk.

“The Bentayga Fly Fishing car showcases the breadth and level of detail a customer can expect from Mulliner. This is an individual bespoke solution and our skilled craftspeople can design elegant and exquisitely executed bespoke solutions to complement any customer lifestyle or hobby. Fly fishing is a sport that requires a variety of equipment and clothing, so it was essential to package the rods, reels, waders, boots and fly-tying station into the car in a luxurious, accessible and elegant way – and the end result is truly extraordinary," said Geoff Dowding, director of Mulliner.

What makes the Bentley Bentayga Fly Fishing by Mulliner special

When seen from the outside, the Fly Fishing special edition appears to be a standard Bentayga. The feeling continues inside the cabin unless the SUV is specified with bespoke Mulliner features, but it's a whole different story once you open the trunk lid. Inside, you'll find all the equipment required for a successful day on the river, but crafted with the utmost care and from the finest materials by the folks over at Mulliner.

Four rods are stored in special tubes trimmed in saddle-colored leather with Linen cross-stitching and located on the underside of the parcel shelf. A pair of landing nets in matching leather bags are stored in a carpet-trimmed hard pocket built into the side of the trunk. A master tackle station, a refreshment case, and waterproof wader-stowage trunk, all trimmed in saddle leather, are also included.

The master tackle station and refreshment case are mounted on a sliding tray that allows for easy access. Inside the master tackle unit there's a special Burr Walnut veneered drawer containing a fly-tying vice and tools, as well as a selection of cotton, hooks and feathers. Four aluminum reel cases trimmed in saddle leather with a Linen cross-stitching are placed underneath. The interior of the refreshment case is also trimmed in Linen leather and houses three metal flasks and a set of Mulliner fine-china tableware. It also includes a separate food storage compartment, basically turning the Bentayga's trunk into a mobile picnic table. Thanks to the quilted leather finish on top, the case can also be removed entirely and used as a seat.

Waders and boots can be stowed in a hand-crafted, saddle leather-wrapped wood trunk. This is lined with hard-wearing neoprene material to keep the items stored inside in a waterproof environment. Speaking of which, the bespoke Bentayga also comes with a Waterproof boot-floor and rear-sill-protection covers. These are discreetly integrated into the rear compartment together with an electronic dehumidifier unit to keep the area fresh and dry.

The good news is that all of the fishing equipment above can be removed completely from the trunk so that customers can benefit from the Bentayga’s full cargo space. So unless you're going fishing, you can use this bespoke SUV just like a regular Bentayga.

Oh, and even though I said that the exterior is as standard as they get, the Fly Fishing actually has a special feature in the form of Mulliner "Welcome Lights" built into the underside of the doors. They project the Bentley and Mulliner logos onto the ground when the doors are opened, but the more exciting part is that a bespoke option allows customers to add their personal logo or graphic. Fancy!

There's no word on pricing for this Mulliner-built shooting brake, but it's safe to assume it's significantly more expensive than the standard model. With the regular Bentayga priced from $229,100, the Fly Fishing probably fetches some $300,000.
